Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions

After having this game since day 1, I like it! Not love it! It plays great just like any other version of the Show.

It's time for SDS to give us consumers a reason to repurchase this title. I am playing on next gen and the only thing that makes it "Next Gen" is a stadium creator! I'm thinking it is so much more they can do and give us for at least $73.00. It is not intend to bash the game maker. I love the product & I have been a loyal customer for 20 years! I received the survey, completed & submitted it.

I like the new presentation, but it's limited! It shouldn't be for a powerful system. Maybe SDS will wow us next year, but I'm content playing this for years if I must!

      I second this post.

The only reason I may consider purchasing 23 without quality improvements is the new scheduling MLB plans to implement next year.

Game to game it plays fantastic but franchise wise it’s missing a little something.

I’ve had a hard time sticking with my franchise this year.

Maybe it’s just fatigue on my part.

I must say the commentary has gotten exponentially better since launch

Still work to do obviously but it’s so much better now than before

Went back to back to back to back, with Carlson, Schwarber, Arenado, and Duvall.

I know I've "complained" about off the field things that bothered me, that normally don't bother me, but on the field, on PS5, this game plays so incredibly well. As someone during the year that bounced back and forth between '22 and '21 because of personal hangups, its clear imo of course, that '22 is just so much better on the field, and easily the best playing of the series.

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions

Have to agree with Armor on both the check swing issues and more importantly (for me) hit variety. The latter is the reason why I've stopped playing the game. While some of it is me making bad decisions on which pitches to hit, a good portion of my hits have good swing timing and they seem limited to 6-7 ball trajectories:

                1. Fly out in deep center
                2. Fly out in deep left (I tend to pull some with righties)
                3. Dribbler to 3rd
                4. A rope over the 1st baseman (which they miraculously jump and catch half the time)
                5. Ground ball dead center which goes past the pticher and 2nd base for a hit
                6. Blooper over shortstop.

Any suggestions to improve this? It's breaking the immersion for me. I love the game otherwise.

Glad you are happy with the game.

What's the secret for generating sustainable cpu offense, hit variety (user and cpu) and range of scoring outcomes?

Don't get me wrong, 22 is good, but compared to 20....I just don't get the variety that I am used to.

Before you ask, I've easily logged 80 games on 22, so it's not a rash judgment based on 1 game or series.

If you know how to save the game for me, I'm all ears.

And you aren't the only one who's reported they've seen lots of hit variety.

I don't know that there is any secret. I play straight default Legend using meter pitching and zone hitting. The only sliders I alter are injuries with both in game and sim set to 8.

I've bounced back and forth, but the main reason I continued to return, and stuck with '22, is due to it being a better playing game on the field versus that of '21, or even '20 imo.

For me, '22 plays the best game of baseball on the field.

The game is smooth, no argument there. I feel the disconnect is in variety game outcomes, stale cpu offense and lack of hit variety...I.E. the "dice roll" aspect of The Show seems to be missing in 22.

                              Nevertheless, glad you enjoy it!

Maybe its your game settings? I mean if I was in your situation I wouldnt enjoy it either. My scores from the past handful of games are 6-5 (w) 3-2 (L) 9-2 (L) 10-3 (L) and 4-1 (w). Classic pitching, directional hitting. all-star+ difficulty, default sliders except CPU contact up one notch.

I'm not saying that you should use those settings, but what your asking for is in the game is all I'm saying. If I was playing with stale hit variety and no dice roll aspects, then I wouldn't be playing it either.
