Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
So commentary is now off for all home games (Yankees) except if we are a game of the week.
I will leave it on for road games to hear the other teams commentary and stories.
I really like Boog, I love the more dead air moments too that let’s the game breath.
But this is year one and you can easily tell now. The repetition is overwhelming and I just finished April.
I love the new presentation both the The Show theme and the Regional theme. Both score bugs are amazing.....lot’s of great stuff. Even all the generic music has been done really well and has eased the sting of no SOTS on the PS5. But the commentary just is not holding up.....and I think going about it this way:
Home games off (except National Game of the Week) and road games on.....is a way to keep it fresher over the course of 162.Comment

And another little thing they could’ve done is maybe put some physics onto the chains, where it could’ve been a next-gen only feature to have chains that hang outside the jersey and dangle and flop with real physics. It’s small things like that they used to be cool about. Oh well.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

is this just one of those things where because most people don’t use the outfield cams they don’t bother? We haven’t seen a catcher animation overhaul in at least 4 or 5 years now. Might be even longer. Was back when they added the “calm down” and “there ya go” ones.

I think that sometimes people are expecting a little too much out of "next-gen". That's not to say this game couldn't use visual improvements. It absolutely can. But in a very general sense, this gen is going to be a smaller visual jump over the last. Just like the One/PS4 jumps were smaller than the 360/PS3 jumps. The biggest differences in games are going to mostly be increased resolutions, increased framerates, and the improvements that eventually come via integrated SSDs. And the last of that isn't really going to be present in a big way until the games are no longer also being made on last gen (and given that this game just launched on Switch, that's probably not going to happen until Nintendo comes out with a new system).

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
I have the game both on PS5 and Xbox Series X with an LG C1 TV and my preference to play the game on is the Series X. Dolby Vision makes this game looks so much brighter than the PS5 version. I also have a Dolby Atmos setup and the sound on the X is so much better. Those two features alone make the game more immersive IMO than The PS5 counter part. I know the PS5 has better frame rates in cut scenes and also the haptic feedback however, if you have a Dolby Vision capable TV and/ or a Dolby Atmos setup then the Xbox is the Superior version. I would be curious to see what the PS5 version looks like if Dolby Vision was supported on the PS5 and what it sounds like with speaker setups once 3D audio is supported for those.
I would love to hear other people's opinions on this.Last edited by Bballman360; 05-03-2022, 05:02 PM.Comment

I have Dolby Vision(DV) on my 6 year old Roku TCL 4K TV. I have the Xbox/s (Baby Brother to the X with no DVD Drive) Can I use DV with the XBOX/s? Right now I am playing the Show on a 120Mz computer monitor and it looks great there but no DV.Comment

The S does support DV but you have to have a display that supports it. I doubt the Roku TV you currently have supports DV. I personally would go with the LG C1 as it was last year's model and you can grab it for around 1,100. Or you can go with the C2 Which just came out but you are going to pay about 600 dollars more for a little brighter screen. I know there are a few Sony TV's that do DV and I actually had the Sony Bravia XR A90J but took that back to get the C1 because the C1 is half the price and can do DV and VRR at the same time. The Bravia Cannot do DV and VRR at the same time, you have to choose one or the other.Last edited by Bballman360; 05-03-2022, 04:09 PM.Comment
