It's the blank canvas part that intrigues me. I can pretty much go in any direction that I want, and not feel bad because we're going to be terrible, and there's nobody on this roster that I really feel attached to. Plus, I can't even take the easy way out by trading for top prospects, because I've got no friggin' trade chips that are worth anything spectacular

I'm thinking that I might do my international FA "draft" (using JWdixon's IFA generator) sooner rather than later, just to have a prospect that I feel tied to thorughout the process.

Yeah man, exactly why they were so intriguing to use last year. You really had to work to get them to contention. Year three I had them in the ALCS.....and lost. Overall it was pretty challenging and stressful .

I just can't believe the state that we're in. After all of the trades that they've made, the end result looks like (as of day 1 of this franchise at least) Soderstrom, Langeliers, and a bunch of fringy future AAAA guys. I don't know that you build a franchise around Soderstrom, as good as he may well end up.

Think of it this way, they hired you to save the franchise, by any means possible, and with hardly any money. Haha.

I know exactly how you feel. I am back in my restart 9000 times loop. I can not get attached to any team expected to win. I even tried to use my Mets and just bring up all the kids from day one and then I feel weird about it. Right now I am pausing all franchises and going through each team to find one to use. I am not sure who I want to roll with but they need to be crappy. I have narrowed it down to Detroit, The Reds, A's and Nationals. Nationals are a long shot since they are in the NL East.

Yeah this is me in any sports game over the years especially the Show. I pretend I'm the GM that comes in to save the team. The team can't already be good. It's a nice little escape from my actual mundane job.

Are you settled on a team this season? and if so how is it going? I have fallen behind a few days on the reading

Very true. First thing that I did was spend a bunch of money upgrading my scouting and coaching staff, so hopefully that'll help with growth. If I can find a decent deal for Seth Brown, I'll likely get Soderstrom up sooner rather than later.

I've been rolling with Miami so far, but I think they aren't bad enough now that I'm a couple weeks in to it. I'm winning too much. So I may switch to a worse team. I tend to spend April every year trying to find my team to roll with.

I don't do the writeups like you guys do on this thread, I'm not as talented of a writer. LOL

I’m not a good writer either that’s why I mainly just post stats and standings after each month lol

Injuries plague Cardinals series with Giants

The Cardinals (39-30) were hit with injuries during their series with the Giants at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals dropped 2 games of the 3 game series, but avoided a sweep by coming back and winning Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals and Cubs are now tied in the NL Central.

Jordan Montgomery started Monday night and pitch well, but the bullpen would blow the lead as Ryan Helsley couldn't get the save, giving up 3 runs as the Giants came back to win 6-4. The Cardinals led 6-1 heading into the 8th, but Andre Pallante would give up 3 runs without recording an out. The Cardinals also lost Brendan Donovan to a shoulder tear. He will be out until around mid-August.

Jack Flaherty got the ball to start on Tuesday night, but would leave in the 2nd inning after taking a line drive off his arm from the bat of JD Davis. Thankfully x-rays were negative and Flaherty just has a bruised arm and likely will make his next start in the rotation. The Cardinals would drop Tuesday night's game 7-3 as the bullpen just couldn't put together enough successful innings and the offense couldn't get key hits.

Miles Mikolas would leave his start on Wednesday afternoon after throwing just 10 pitches due to a finger injury. Mikolas isn't expected to be shelved. Steven Matz would actually take the ball as the bullpen was worn out, but Matz would keep giving up a lead the offense put together, allowing 6 runs to cross in 4 innings and would leave the game with the Cardinals down 6-3. The tired bullpen would step up was Chris Stratton went 2 solid innings now allowing a run. Zach Britton pitched a perfect 7th inning, new acquired Trevor Rosenthal pitched a perfect 8th, and Giovanny Gallegos held the Giants at bay by keeping the deficit at 6-4 heading into the bottom of the 9th. The Cardinals would put up 3 runs capped off by Juan Yepez's game winning RBI single to avoid the sweep.

The Cardinals are off on Thursday as they travel to New York for a 3 game weekend series with the Mets.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Yeah, me being a Cleveland fan, I cannot use any other team in that division. So Detroit is a no-go.

I find that I just ramble on too much when I write here...that's why I try to keep the majority of things on the google sheet

Marlins pitching is filthy. If they could put together a better lineup...yeehaw!

I've actually got a proposal that I'm working on for the A's-Marlins...Ramon Laureano ($9.5) for Sixto Sanchez ($1.6)+Khalil Watson ($4)+Jacob Miller ($3.9)=$9.5

Not sure if I'm going to go through with it or not, but adding Sixto's upside would be huge for me...just don't want to feel like I'm stealing him though hahaha.
