The Padres were riding high after getting off to a 5-1 start to open the season. The Braves brought them back to reality over the weekend.

Max fried was dominant in the Braves home opener. Fried threw 7 shutout innings while striking out 8 Friar hitters. Travis d'Arnaud's 2 run homer proved enough as the Braves ended up winning 4-1. Xander Bogaert's bat remained hot as he went 2-4 for the losing side.

Once again Braves pitching stymied Padres bats as the Braves bested the Friars 5-1. Kyle Wright went 6 2/3 strong innings with only giving up 1 run. Sean Murphy and Vaughn Grissom each homered with Grissom collecting 3 hits and a double to go with that homer. Braves win 5-1

Padres 3 Braves 2
Nelson Cruz hit a run scoring single off Colin McHugh in the top of the 9th to break a 2-2 tie and give the Padres a 3-2 lead. Josh Hader struck out 2 in the bottom of the 9th to earn his 2nd save of the season. Seth Lugo despite getting a no decision pitched well scattering 4 hits and 2 runs over 7 innings while striking out 6. Xavier Bogaerts was 3-4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI for the winners, while Vaughn Grissom homered for the 2nd time in as many days for the Braves.

Sun. April 9th
The Braves jumped all over Padres starter Michael Wacha right from the first pitch. The Braves touched him up for 9 earned runs in 1 2/3 innings en route to a 13-7 win to close the series. Matt Olson led the Braves offense with a mammoth home run in the 2nd and ended the day with a pair of hits and 3 RBI. Juan Soto hit a pair of home runs in the losing effort.

Injury Note:
It was a bitter sweet win for the Braves as star OF Ronald Acuna was injured sliding in to 3rd base late in the Braves win. Acuna suffered a Broken Shin and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

The Padres record is now 6-4 and next travel to New York to take on the 6-4 Mets.
