Twins Bats' Quiet, Drop Home Series to White Sox
The Minnesota Twins scored just 5 runs in a three-game series, as they lost the series to Chicago two games to one.
In game one, Kenta Maeda went five solid innings with five strikeouts but the bullpen got hit around late and Twins lost 4-2. Byron Buxton hit homerun number 100 of his career to lead the dysfunctional Twins' offense.
Pablo Lopez outdueled Lance Lynn in game two as Minnesota snuck out a 2-1 win. Lopez (2-1) went five innings allowing just one run with three strikeouts. Jorge Polanco was activated from the IL and delivered a solo homerun, the 99th of his career.
The White Sox bats went off as Chicago won the rubber match 10-1 on Thursday afternoon. Bailey Ober (0-1) started for Minny and it wasn't pretty as he gave up eight runs and eight hits over four and one-third innings. Max Kepler homered on the first pitch of the bottom of the first for the only offense for Minnesota.
Both Alex Kirilloff and Jorge Polanco, who were both just recently activated from the IL, were again placed back on the IL with different injuries. The Twins also currently have Sonny Gray, Gilbert Celestino, Royce Lewis and Chris Paddack on their injured list.
The Twins ended their first homestand of the year at 3-3 and are now 7-5 overall, as they head to New York to take on the Yankees for a 4-game weekend series. Joe Ryan (1-0, 0.75), Tyler Mahle (0-1, 7.00), Kenta Maeda (1-0, 0.82) and Pablo Lopez (2-1, 1.72) are scheduled to toe the rubber for Minnesota.
