I dont really see that. I feel like I get enough swings outside the zone...quite a few are check swings but are called as swings after the appeal.

Pirates end April with series victory

The Pirates could have ended April with a sweep of the Nationals as they led in each game but could not keep the lead in the first game of the series. The Nationals started the scoring in the game with a 1st inning Corey Dickerson RBI single but the Pirates answered back with three of their own in the 2nd that came off of a Rodolfo Castro two rbi double and a Kevin Plawecki rbi single. The Nationals continued the early scoring in the bottom half of the inning as Dominic Smith hit his second homer of the season to bring the score to 3-2. The teams would then continue to go back and fourth until Dickerson's second RBI on the day gave Washington the 5-4 lead and eventual victory with the same final score.

Game two saw Pittsburgh return the favor after taking a 5-3 lead in the 8th inning after Oneil Cruz's 8th homer of the season, a three run shot. The game also ended in the same score, 5-3.

Game three was all Pittsburgh as JT Brubaker pitched his second consecutive solid outing (6.0 IP, 6 Hits 0 ER, 6 SO) as he improved to 5-1 on the year. Ke'Bryan Hayes was the main offensive star of the game as his 5th inning grand slam gave the Pirates the lead which they held on to as Robert Stephenson came in after Brubaker's departure and held on for the three inning save.

The Pirates will have the first day of May off before heading to Tampa to take on the 21-8 Rays.

The Minnesota Twins put on end to their 4 game losing streak with a thrilling 6-5 win over the visiting Washington Nationals. Tyler Mahle improved his record to 3-0 by going 5 2/3 innings striking out 7 while walking 3 and allowing 1 run. Byron Buxton hit his 4th homer of the year with Joey Gallo adding his 6th. Jhoan Duran despite giving up 2 runs in the 9th inning earned his 8th save of the young season.

Cardinals drop series to Mets in Queens

The Cardinals (40-32) dropped 2 games of a 3 game series with the Mets over the weekend in Queens. The Cardinals and Cubs remain tied atop the NL Central Division.

The Cardinals won Friday night's opener with Matthew Liberatore starting against Jose Quintana. Liberatore was serviceable going 5 innings giving up 4 runs on 7 hits. Thankfully the bats knocked around Jose Quintana as the Cards put up 9 runs on Quintana before he left in the 5th. The Cards would go on to win 10-6.

Saturday was a showdown of Adam Wainwright and Justin Verlander, but Verlander would get the better of the matchup. JV went 7 solid innings giving up a single run on 2 hits with 12 strikeouts. Wainwright would only get thru 5 giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, including 3 homeruns. The Mets would win 8-1.

Sunday was no better for the Cardinals as they faced Max Scherzer. Scherzer would go 8 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits with 10 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery matched pitch for pitch for most of the day, but was pulled in the 7th after a Pete Alonso 3 run bomb opened the lead to 5-2 for the Mets, the eventual final score.

Dylan Carlson would tally 7 hits in the series including 3 doubles. Arenado and Goldy were solid as well.

The Cardinals will travel to Washington for a 3 game series with the Nationals starting Monday night.

Cardinals trade Steven Matz to Pirates for Johan Oviedo

The Cardinals brought back a familiar face to organization when they agreed to send Steven Matz to the Pirates for RHP Johan Oviedo. Oviedo a former Cardinal, was just recently sent back to Triple A after a stint with the big league club. The 25 year old has thrown 6 big league innings racking up 7 striketouts and only allowing a single run. He will report to Memphis to start out as the Cardinals continue to build MLB ready bullpen depth to get ready for the dog days of summer and potential injuries.

8 games into my first season with the Braves and I'm 4-4. I'm managing every game. 2nd game in the Padres series has been my favorite game so far. The Padres score 4 runs in the top of the 7th to take a 6-2 lead, felt very much like loss coming on. That inning was a disaster, relief pitching was terrible. Fortunately, Padres had equally as terrible relief pitching as we were able to score 4 runs in the 8th and 9th, including a 2 run home run from Albies (who had been hitting AWFUL, like a .068 average). Game went into extra innings 6-6. In the bottom of the 11th Albies hits yet another 2 run hom run and the Braves win 8-6. Super fun come back win, I was dancing and chanting "Albies, Albies, Albies" ahh great game.

My Astros made quick work of the Yankees, winning the Wild Card round in two games (Who is your Daddy? Haha, sorry, I had to)

Game 1:
What a great way to start a playoff series. In the first inning Pedro Leon started us off with a double, which brought up Yordan Alvarez… who absolutely demolished a pitch to make it 2-0. During the second inning we got the bases loaded for Pedro Leon and on a 3-2 count with two outs he hit a solid double in the left field gap to score two runs. So with two runners on, two outs in the second inning, Yordan Alvarez came up and annihilated another pitch for a three-run homer. That made it 7-0 and ended Carlos Rodon’s night.

Framber Valdez had a really solid outing in game 1. He threw 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 10 batters. Hunter Brown came in to throw the 7th inning where he went threw up, three down. Phil Maton came into the 8th and gave up two hits but then settled in and finished the inning without allowing a run. In the 9th inning we brought in Rafael Montero to close it out. He gave up a home run to Giancarlo Stanton but then mowed down the next three batters to finish the game.

Astros took game 1 with a final score of 8-1.

Game 2:
We started off this game much like we did the first one. Altuve hit a double, Brantley walked, and then Yordan came up and hit a shot into the left field gap that ended up scoring two. So just like the first game we jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Two innings later we got the bases loaded for Kyle Tucker who, I’m assuming, got tired of Yordan getting all the glory because he was served up a hanging breaking ball and Tucker slammed it over the right field fence. 6-0 lead for our Astros.

Christian Javier was absolutely lights out in this game. This season we have seen Javier grow to a 90 overall pitcher and he looks every single bit of it. In this game he threw 7 innings, allowing two hits and striking out 12. In the 8th inning, with a 6-0 lead, we brought in Blake Taylor hoping to give him a chance to compete in the playoffs, but he instantly got into trouble. He walked the first batter, gave up a single to LeMahieu, and then Aaron Judge hit a screamer to right field that ended up scoring two runs to make it 6-2. We brought in Ryne Stanek who walked Stanton, but then struck out the next two batters before finishing the inning with a ground ball from Dominguez. Pressly came into the 9th inning to shut the Yankees down and finish the series.

Astros win Game 2 with a score of 6-2

This advances us to the ALDS where we get the chance to take on our division rival, the Los Angeles Angels.

I’ll come back for a full series breakdown as soon as I get the chance.

new to the forum & returning to the game after a few years. Can I ask how you do this IFA 'draft'? I'm also going to be starting an A's franchise for similar reasons as you, so it'd be nice to have at least one prospect to hone in on apart from Soderstrom.

I tried starting an A's franchise last weekend but forgot I had GM contracts on and got fired after just focusing on the draft and stocking up my farm system for two seasons!

I also plan on adding Sasaki to my team on a four-year contract when I start, but keeping him in A ball and completely nerfing his stats until his contract is up. That way he can become a FA in 2027 like he will in real life. Hopefully my team will be dominant by then and he'll want to sign!

What I did in my Jays franchise (and plan to do either today or tomorrow in my A's franchise), is line everyone up in a certain order (however you want), then roll through the IFA generator in @JWDixon120's google sheet (Mine is edited, but click on the link below to see how it works!).

It's obviously open for however you decide to roll, but to avoid creating 30 different prospects, I decided that I'd pass on any team that "drafted" a prospect with a potential under 75.

Once you see the spreadsheet, it'll likely make more sense!

I’ve noticed less chasing but it past years it seemed too easy to get guys to chase. It seems to be in the sweet spot for me

After some amount of back and forth, I am going to roll with the Miami Marlins for '23.

They have been team I have wanted to roll with since '23 came out but I really like rebuilds.....so it was a bit of a dilemma.

So to make it more rebuild-ish, I'm going to send send Jean Segura to a team that really needs a 3B and can absorb the 2 year salary, and pretend that him signing with Miami never happened. I will take barely anything in return probably a low level prospect, so it feels more "fair".

I'll also send Avasial Garcia to a contender who needs a RF and can handle that ridiculous 4 year deal he has. Again I'll try to not get much in return.

Lastly, there are a handful of guys on that roster that are around 28 years old or older that I don't want to pay when their contract is up (Hampson, Cooper, Stallings, Gurriel etc). I'll either deal them or just dump them to the FA pool. I'll definitely need to looks for a good SS prospect for the future because I don't really love the Marlins SS prospects....

Miami has a good pitching staff, and I'll need to pay up to keep them around.

Three game series in Milwaukee has ended and the Mets can’t get out of town fast enough after getting swept by a total score of 27-5. Seven games in to the season and it’s looking like the Mets have the worst rotation money can buy, as Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer have a combined 8.57 ERA. The Mets head to Queens for their home opener as they host the Marlins.

Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. I’m down 3-2 in the 6th, two outs with Jeff McNeil on first and I think it’s a 3-2 count so I send him. The pitcher throws a ball that I take and they throw to second and I’m completely puzzled when my batter is still in the box. Turns out it was only a 2-2 count and I stole a base with someone I’d never attempt to steal with. The next pitch is a single up the middle and I’m able to tie the game. The next inning I take the lead and our four game skid comes to an end 4-3

I started 12-0, I literally could not lose, I play games, quick manage games and play player lock games, no matter what mode I used I couldn't lose.

I was about to restart the franchise and make sure I hadn't screwed up some settings, but didn't knowing I should probably regress to the mean at some point soon. Well I just finished a road trip to New York and Boston and have now lost 4 of my last 5, including the Red Sox sweeping me.

I had a franchise like that a few years ago where I was either the hottest team in the league or the worst team in the league all season, no in between. It was one of the more fun ones I’ve played, going from double digits out of first place to first place and then plummeting and getting hot again

The Angels come into the ALDS with a record of 95-67, which was good enough for first place in the AL West. The Astros come in at 90-72, which was good enough for 2nd in the AL West.
