Like the Royals are not trading Witt Jr, They even moved MJ Melendez. I was like what in the world
Haha, Deivi got waived by the Yankees in my Jays franchise and somehow ended up slipping all the way to me in the waiver wire.

30 team control is the only way I can play anymore. I have all of the CPU stuff set to Auto, and I let minor trades go through, but yeah...those Witt for Deivi type trades just kill me.

I would have bounced Verlander lol. He old man winter for us. Scherzer I would also but have no spot for Mountcastle with Pete there

100% I do the same. I do understand those who love the universe to shape itself and I get it. I just am too much of a realist of the game.

I think you just convinced me to restart my franchise again and do 30 team control

If you hang on to both of them it looks like the Mets are going to be somewhat of a challenge to use once you get past year 1. Their ratings plummet, there isn’t any pitching in the farm system and you barely have enough budget to fill your three minor league teams

Some guys here don't use it but I love it. And I really only intervene when its really detrimental to a team. Like KC trading Witt .

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion

At the end of the month the Beavers sit at 61-72 currently 16.5 games back of the first place Yankees. August went as I predicted as we faded out of the playoff picture. Currently looking to next year as we try to get a lot of guys in the mix. These last two months are basically auditions for starting spots next year. Hoping to play competitively up until the end will have a wrapup at the end of the season. For the September Call ups Corey Ray and Josh James will be with the big club.

                Offensive Studs:
Jose Azocar has been leading the way with a .320 average and Nomar Mazara has ten home runs. Drew Jackson has been solid all year and on the bench Monte Harrison has been as well.

                Offensive Duds:
Keston Hiura and Ivan Herrera have not been great both hitting below .200, Luis Gonzalez has also been struggling.

                Pitching Studs:
Packy Naughton has been solid so far and Spencer Howard as well. In the pen Santana, Bruhl, Bradley, and Patton have been my best pitchers.

                Pitching Duds:
Andrew Jackson struggled so I'm trying him in long relief now. Alcala has been better of late but not great and Drew Smith has struggled.

                Transactions:
Claimed Jonah Bride from the Athletics Claimed Ricky Vanasco from the Rangers. Claimed David Hamilton from the Red Sox. Called up Cory Abbott and optioned Zac Lowther. Claimed Alex Faedo from the Tigers. Released Ford Proctor and Daniel Mengden.

                Injuries:
Lewin diaz broke his hand and will be out the rest of the season

I decided to tear it all down and trade away most of the guys to try and get younger and more talented. Currently we are 3.5 back in the Wild card so there's still a chance but I'm looking towards the future. Corey Knebel and Willians Astudillo were my two All Stars. We extended Drew Jackson for 1 year with a club option for a second for 2.72M.

                Trades:
Sent Steven Brault to the Twins for Dennis Santana: was offered the trade and Santana was having a solid year.
We then sent Tim Beckham and Michael Pineda to the Cardinals for Ivan Herrera and Packy Naughton. We needed a catcher and Herrera was being blocked by Contreras and Packy was depth.
Next trade we sent Miguel Sano and Juan Lagares to the Astros for Forrest Whitley. Wanted to take a shot on Whitely and Sano was having a solid season.
Next trade we sent Alec Mills, Jonathan Villar, and Scott Manea to the Padres for Jose Azocar and Nick Martinez. Was looking to get younger and faster in the Outfield, Azocar was being blocked. Martinez gives us a solid veteran presence in the rotation with a two more years in the contract.
Next trade we sent Jose Alvarez, Anthony benboom, and Darien Nunez for Keston Hiura. Main piece in this was Alvarez and the others were throw ins for Keston. Milwaukee didn't want him anymore and figured give him a shot.
Next trade we sent Corey Knebel and Phil Gosselin to the Angels for D'Shawn Knowles. Trading our All Star closer for a solid Outfield prospect.
Next trade we sent Chris Archer and Shane Greene to the Giants for Luis Gonzalez. More young talent for the Outfield. Giants have a lot of Outfielders and figured he would be the most expendable.
Next trade we sent Dee Strange Gordon and JT Riddle to the Dodgers for Justin Bruhl and Andre Jackson. We get back two solid young arms and the dodgers get Gordon who was having a solid season.

                Lineup as of 8/1:

                CF: Jose Azocar
                SS: Drew Jackson
                LF: Nomar Mazara
                DH: Keston Hiura
                RF: Luis Gonzalez
                C: Ivan Herrera
                2B: Isan Diaz
                3B: Cadyn Grenier
                1B: Lewin Diaz

                Bench:
                Monte Harrison
                Nick Banks
                Willians Astudillo
                Toby Welk
                Ford Proctor

                Starting Rotation:

                1: Spencer Howard
                2: Nick Martinez
                3: Jace Vines
                4: Andre Jackson
                5: Daniel Mengden

                Bullpen

                LRP: Zac Lowther
                MRP: Jorge Acala
                MRP: Dennis Santana
                MRP: Noah Davis
                MRP: Drew Smith
                SU: Archie Bradley
                CL: Spencer Patton

                Transactions:
Optioned Drew Rom to Triple A and called up Zac Lowther. Claimed Ford Proctor from the Giants. Claimed Spencer Howard from the Rangers. Designated Miles Mastrobuoni for assignment. Claimed Kolton Ingram from the Angels. Claimed Christian Pache from the Athletics .

                Injuries:
                Still nothing...

                Beavers 2023 draft class:

1: Chad Levine 21 year old C potential Starting Pitcher from Michigan. Has high k per nines, sits in the high 80's. Could be in the rotation by next year.

2: Aaron Robles 18 year old C potential Center Fielder from Venezuela. Has solid hitting stats with contact in the 70's. Think he should be higher potential, fielding stats aren't great will probably be in left. ETA 2025

3: Miles Dominguez 21 year old C potential First Basemen from Cuba. He looks a lot like Lewin Diaz stat wise just not a great fielder. ETA 2025-2026

4: Luis Martinez 22 year old B Potential Shortstop from the Dominican Republic. Has solid fielding stats could be in the majors soon just from that. ETA 2024

5: Desmond Stallings 19 year old C potential Relief Pitcher from New York. Has solid stats needs more development ETA 2025.

6: Ray Turner 18 year old C potential Relief Pitcher from Texas. Another solid young arm, has very low walks per nine. ETA 2025-2026

7: Abraham Zamora 20 year old B Potential Shortstop from the Dominican Republic. Definitely a project guy ETA 2026.

                  Cardinals DFA Steven Matz

LHP Steven Matz has been designated for assignment. Matz has struggled thru the first third of the season, and his last two outings saw him get knocked around. The last game pitched he had a 26.7% hard hit rate against him. The outing before, a little of 25%.

Matz is under contract for 2 more seasons and there appears to be a market to trade him. I don't think outrighting him to the minors would be an option due to the apparent market as the Cards would get nothing in return. So its likely the Cards will get a gauge of the return over the next 10 days before they are forced into a decision.

Matthew Liberatore is being recalled from AA Springfield where he landed after returning from injury. He will start Friday night against the Mets. How he does will determine if he is retained or if the Cards will option him back down and bring up another arm (Dakota Hudson or Jake Woodford)
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Tempers were flaring in Milwaukee today as the Brewers were up 11-0 in the 8th inning and they tacked on another run via a sacrifice fly, breaking one of Goose Gossage’s unwritten rules. The next batter, Luke Voit received a fastball in the ribs as the Brewers went on to win 12-0. There are two games left in the series, hopefully tensions don’t escalate.

I am 4-4 with the Rays. I decided to go with them before they won all of these gamez because i really love Brandon Lowe and Arozarena’s game. Plus i thought it would be fun playing in an old dome stadium. I think its fun too to play in front of small crowds for some reason. I only had 7,000 for game 1 of the red sox series.

And Brandon Lowe has 7 hr’s in 8 games. Absolutely raking

Has anyone else noticed that the CPU batters will RARELY swing at anything out of the zone, even if it's close? This annoys me. These are the most disciplined CPU hitters I've ever seen in The Show.

I get swings and misses out of the zone all the time. Might depend on how you set a pitch up, where their hotzones are plus ratings, etc.

Quick but not detailed update of my Twins franchise (more detailed month end update coming soon), but this has been the wildest franchise I've ever had. I started 12-0, I literally could not lose, I play games, quick manage games and play player lock games, no matter what mode I used I couldn't lose.

I was about to restart the franchise and make sure I hadn't screwed up some settings, but didn't knowing I should probably regress to the mean at some point soon. Well I just finished a road trip to New York and Boston and have now lost 4 of my last 5, including the Red Sox sweeping me.

The 2023 regular season has ended for my Astros. We finished with a 90-72 record, which put us in 2nd place in the AL West (Angels finished 95-67, so Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani will get to play in the playoffs).

Jose Altuve ended up tearing a finger ligament during the season, which put him out for about 2 months. He finally came back in early September. He finished with a .311 average hitting 27 home runs and knocking in 69 RBIs.

Yordan Alvarez was arguably the best hitter in baseball. He had a .325 average with 39 HRs and 123 RBIs. He tied for the MLB lead with 202 hits (Trae Turner also had 202). He led the AL in RBIs with 123 (Trayce Thompson had 147 for the Dodgers to lead the NL).

Brantley led the team in BA at .327. In a surprising twist, Pedro Leon was third on the team in BA hitting .321. Jose Abreu hit .269 with 30 HRs and 93 RBIs.

On the mound, Luis Garcia and Framber Valdez each had 15 wins. Garcia led the starters in ERA at 3.09.

Lance McCullers ended up settling into his bullpen role really well. Hunter Brown struggled as a starter, throwing a 5.59 ERA, so eventually we had to put McCullers back in the rotation. McCuklers ended up with a 3.97 ERA.

Rafael Montero led the team in ERA at 0.71. Ryan Pressly (our closer) had a 1.81 ERA with 43 saves.

We’re ready to start the playoffs. In the Wild Card Round we will face off with the Yankees, who finished with a 92-70 record.
