After doing some research, I ended up hopping on board with The Show 23, upgrading from last years version, and I've decided to roll with my Guardians.

Your 2023 Guardians batting order will look like -

1) Steven Kwan, LF
2) Amed Rosario, SS
3) Jose Rameriz, 3B
4) Josh Bell, DH
5) Josh Naylor, 1B
6) Oscar Gonzalez, RF
7) Andres Gimenez, 2B
8) Mike Zunino, C
9) Myles Straw, CF

Will be rotating Will Brennan into RF with Oscar, and leaving Cam Gallagher backing up Zunino. Bo Naylor will begin the year in AAA.

Rotation will be

Shane Beiber
Tristian McKenzie
Cal Quantrill
Aaron Civale
Zach Plesac

Emmanual Clase will continue closing duties.

The rotation will be the strong point of the team again this season, with plenty of talent coming up the system as well.

Let's hope we can get the offense going this season with the addition of Zumino & Bell.

well, I decided to give John Means a reprieve and keep him in Charm City for another season, but him being a lefty, I couldnt take it any longer to keep him in my rotation, so instead of trading him away, I cut his stamina in two and halved, put him in the bullpen and made him a reliever. I still need more starting pitching though. guess I'll take a look at the FA list and see if there's a project pitcher I can stake a claim on

At the end of the month the Beavers sit at 37-43 currently 17 games back of the First place Yankees. They are still not out of it yet though sitting at 2.5 back of the Wild card. Surprisingly the Blue Jays are in last place in the division which is crazy. Looking forward to the draft going forward and will probably start making some moves as we get closer to the end of July

Offensive Studs:
Surprisingly Cadyn Grenier is leading the way with a .290 average after he took over for Riddle at Second Base at the beginning of the month. He also was the Rookie of the month! Tim Beckham leads the team with 16 home runs and Dee Strange Gordon leads the league with 23 stolen bases. Drew Jackson has also been solid hitting.282 with 17 Stolen bases.

Offensive Duds:
Miguel Sano hasn't been great with the average hitting .223 but with 12 home runs. Villar hasn't been great since the beginning of the season down to .236. On the Bench Lagares and Riddle have been struggling a bit as well.

Pitching Studs:
Michael Pineda is still my best pitcher at 2.73 with 85 innings pitched going 6-5 so far. Archer and Mengden also have both been solid. In the pen: Alvarez, Bradley, and Patton have been good and Corey Knebel has been nasty with a 1.63 Era and 15 saves.

Pitching Duds:
Alec Mills is starting to fall off with 4.95 Era and Drew Rom hasn't been able to find it since his debut outing. In the pen Brault in the long relief hasn't been good and Smith and Greene are struggling as well. Will definitely look to upgrade the pitching soon.

Injuries:
Still nothing...

Transactions:
Claimed Jackson Fraizer from the Rangers and released Jose Herrera. Claimed Miles Mastrobuoni from the Cubs and released Tim Kennelly.

All the Outfield spots besides Dee are still struggling. We acquired Monte Harrison from the Brewers to put in left field so we shall see how that goes. Mazara has been better of late and the bench hasn't done much of anything.

We moved Daniel Mengden into the rotation and he's been okay so far. Called up Drew Rom at the end of the month and had 11 ks against the Guardians. Maybe we found something who knows.

Pitching Duds:
Rotation is stable for now, In the pen Brault is there now In the long relief. Besides that it's been okay as well.

Injuries:
Still nothing big

Transactions:
Optioned Jaxx Groshans to Triple A and called up Anthony benboom. Claimed Jose Hernandez from the Pirates and sent him to Double A. Claimed Jose Herrera from the Diamondbacks sent him to Double A. Optioned Jorge Acala to Triple A and called up Drew Smith. Claimed Corey Abbott from the Nationals and sent him to Triple A.

Trades:
Traded Zack Britton to the Brewers for Monte Harrison. The Brewers acquired Harrison Bader from the Yankees and had a log jam in the Outfield.

Looking forward to the draft coming up soon, and will keep looking to improve the team. Definitely trending to being sellers at the deadline.

Getting ready to start a franchise with my beloved Philadelphia Phillies. Love playing this game but one thing that bothers me and it’s a personal quirk, is the players without photos on the big screen. I like playing as realistic as I can and it makes things more realistic with pictures. With that being said, stay tuned for some Phillies Spring training baseball coming your way soon. First matchup will be against Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees.

Brewers pitching stiffles Cards bats during series

The Cardinals (27-19) dropped two games of a 3 game set with the Brewers at Busch to begin the week. The Cardinals maintain a one game lead over the Cubs in the NL Central.

The offense really sputtered this series as the Cardinals scored a total of 6 runs over the series, with 4 of those runs coming on Wednesday.

The Cardinals lost the series opener Monday night as Jordan Montgomery took his 3rd loss on the year (4-3), but didn't pitch poorly. He was the victim of the offense getting shutout. Montgomery went 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 10 strikeouts, but he got no help. Dylan Carlson and Tyler O'Neill provided something I guess, with each getting a double.

On Tuesday night it was more of the same, except the Cards did get a run. Jack Flaherty would take the loss (5-2) but again pitched decently. He went 6.1 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits. Dylan Carlson drove in the only run for the offense with a RBI double, as the Cards fell 2-1.

Wednesday the bats got better. Paul Goldschmidt and Willson Contreras each hit homeruns as the Cards would win 4-1 to avoid the sweep. Goldschmidt had 3 RBIs with Willson providing the one. Miles Mikolas would continue to be perfect (7-0) going 8 innings giving up the lone run as he started the 9th. Ryan Helsley would convert the save.

The Cardinals remain at home as they welcome the Dodgers to town for a 4 game weekend series.

Im 27-17 with the cubs. Tearing it up in May thanks in large part in facing the Marlins and Nationals. Lost 2 of 3 to the twins but took 2 of 3 from the Astros. But I gotta figure what to do with Seiya Suzuki. Ima big fan of his irl but through 44 games he’s hitting .188. Matt Mervis (1B) is red hot in Iowa but I may wait till June to make a decision

I just did something in my Mets franchise that I don't think I have ever done in my Show history. I just hit two Grand Slams in the same game, in back to back innings. First one by Alonso and the other by Lindor.

By years end, Scherzer was a 80 and Verlander a 82. They both still had sub 3 ERAs in the regular season but got shelled in the postseason. Not sure what to do with these contracts now. They're gonna be a tough team to use.

Oh and the Royals traded Melendez and Witt at the Deadline just because they were out of the playoff picture. Interesting start to Franchise this year.

I like the scouting though! Much more fun and immersive.

oh it really sucks that Kodai Senga is not in the game yet in the Mets rotation. Not too happy there

Mets Get Off To Fast Start With Sweep Of Marlins

The Mets opened up the season heading into Miami for 4. Mets have high hopes this year as world series contenders predicted to win between 95 to 105 games.

Settings- Legend (I will start messing with sliders every 10 games if I feel I can not lose. I am ok winning between 95 and 105 due to the roster but do not want a guaranteed title. So will adjust as we go)

Layout- 30 team control BUT I only do it to watch trades. The computer pretty much runs the teams just gives me the options to back things out.

Game 1- Verlander vs Alcantara
The two aces matched up for the season opener of 2023. Before the first pitch the Mets had a shocking turn around as they made a last minute decision to send Brett Baty to AAA to start the season and keep Edguardo Escobar up. Escobar getting a second lease on life with the Mets took advantage of that right away. In the second inning as Alcantara had some control issues and walked the first two batters Escobar would come up and drive a 2-2 pitch for a 3 run home run to give the Mets an early 4-1 lead. That would be all they would need as Verlander went 6 innings giving up 2 runs and the Mets win the opener 5-2

LP- Alcantara (0-1)
S- Raley (1)

Game 2- Scherzer vs Rogers
Scherzer was not himself this game having some control issues and giving up lots of hits but limiting the damage to 3 runs over 5 innings. Luckily for him the Marlins bullpen which was a constant problem in 2022 is still a problem in 2023. Down 4-2 in the 8th Tommy Pham would hit a 3 run home run off Matt Barnes to give the Mets a 5-4 lead and the win.

WP- Ottavino (1-0)
LP- Barnes (0-1)
S- Diaz (1)

Game 3- Sasaki vs Garrett
The much awaited debut of Roki Sazaki. In the off-season the Mets had signed Kodai Senga to a 5 year deal but that deal was voided a month before spring training as Senga decided to join the Japan military instead and the Mets pivoted to the youngster to take his place. Sasaki did not disappoint. He threw 6 and two thirds of 3 hit baseball while walking 3 and striking out 9. That along with Escobar enjoying his new life hitting another home run and a solo shot from Nimmo and the Mets dominated this one and win 6-0

WP- Sasaki (1-0)
LP- Garrett (0-1)

Game 4- Peterson vs Luzardo
This was a big start for Peterson. With Verlander and Scherzer having two years left in their career. Quintana in the same boat Peterson and Sasaki are the future of the rotation and need to show they have what it takes. Well Peterson did not let anyone down on this day. He had the best start of anyone in the series. He went 7 innings, allowing only 2 hits, 1 walk and strike out 12. He got a home run from Tim Locastro and Mark Cahna and shut down the Marlins for the 5-1 win and series sweep.

WP- Peterson (1-0)
LP- Luzardo (0-1)

Summary
Only one of the four games did I feel I actually had a shot to lose. So while I want to adjust the sliders as default Legend might not be a challenge for me I will wait until 10 games in as maybe its just the Marlins stink. We will see

Next up the Mets travel to Milwaukee (2-1) for three games

Besides the Mets 4 other teams went unbeaten, Braves (3-0), Cards (3-0), Padres (4-0), and White Sox (4-0) as they swept the defending champs

Flagstaff, AZ (AP) - The Hops continued their roll as they took two of three from the Phoenix Firebirds to end the home stand at (4-1).

The Hops opened up their weekend series against Phoenix by blasting seven home runs in an 11-4 victory. Emmitt Hampton homered three times and drove in five to help lead the Hops to their fifth consecutive victory and 16th in their last 17.

Flagstaff would get off to a quick start as Oscar Aleman hit a three-run home run in the first inning, his 11th on the season. Rogelio llerena would get two back in the top of the second with a two-run home run to right off of Sam Herzog.

But the Hops would cruise from there. Hampton hit three homers and now has 17 on the season. Josh Ortega blasted two home runs and is up to 19. Oscar Aleman and Forrest Owens also hit homers as the seven tied a team record.

Sam Herzog (6-5) pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, while striking out five.

The Hops did not reach 50 wins in 2022 until July 25th when they improved to (50-51).

On Saturday night, the Firebirds and their ace Frank Reyna shut down the Hops as they were victorious 2-1. Reyna tossed 6.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits, while striking out eight.

Phoenix would take a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning on a Phillip Cox RBI single that scored Myles Payne. They would increase that lead to 2-0 in the seventh on a Payne RBI double.

Roberto Geronimo would get one back in the bottom half as he hit a solo home run, his 11th on the year to cut the lead to 2-1.

But Phoenix closer Rickey Gilbert came on and struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 18th save on the year.

Alex Farmer (6-2) took the loss, but pitched well, going 6.1 innings and allowing two runs on six hits, while striking out eight.

In Sunday afternoon’s finale, Forrest Owen homered twice to lead the Hops to a 2-1 victory. Owen’s second homer came in the bottom of the eighth to break a 1-1 tie.

Phoenix (33-39) had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-out RBI single from Juan Chavez.

From that point on, Shoe-Lace O’Tying was in control. He struck out seven as he tossed eight innings, allowing just one run on four hits to improve to (9-2) on the season, lowering his ERA to 2.45.

Forrest Owen homered in the third inning off of Escobar to tie the game at 1-1. He would break the tie with a solo homer in the eighth on the first pitch from reliever Steven Evans.

Vic Miller came on to earn his 24th save, but he tight-roped out of trouble to earn it. He gave up a lead off single to Juan Chavez and walked Bobby Gates before striking out Keith Morales and getting Llerena to ground into a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.

The Hops (51-20) will now hit the road for a nine-game road trip to El Paso, San Antonio and Prescott.

Around the League: Chandler’s Mike Anderson hit a two-run home run in the top of the tenth as the Chiefs rallied for a 5-3 extra innings win in Tempe over the Rafters. Jacob Martin lined an RBI double in the fifth inning for the games only run as Henderson defeated Glendale 1-0 in a battle of first place teams. Nino Soriano (8-3) tossed 7.1 shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out seven in the victory.

After winning in extra innings on Friday evening, the Chandler Chiefs scored six runs in the top of the ninth to stun Salt River 6-4 on Saturday afternoon. Stanton Brickman came through with a clutch bases clearing three-run double to put the Chiefs up 5-4 as they improved to (47-25).

I'm only a couple of games in, do the CPU teams automatically select alternate uniforms? Thought I read somewhere they don't in franchise and you have to select them yourself.

I honestly don't recall them doing it in '23.

I change uniforms based on what I want the teams to wear

Cardinals embarassed by Dodgers during 4 game series at Busch

The Cardinals (28-22) were absolutely embarrassed by the Dodgers during a 4 game series at Busch Stadium in St.Louis over the weekend.

The only good thing was the Cardinals were not swept in the series as they won on Friday night. But other than that, nothing good to write about. The Cardinals were outscored in this series 41-13. Yes, that lopsided. The Dodgers scored 10 runs on Thursday, 6 on Friday, 13 on Saturday, and 12 on Sunday.

The Cardinals will look to rebound as they head to Cincinnati for a 4 game series against the Reds beginning Monday night.

Cardinals sign LHP Zach Britton to one year deal, option Anthony Misiewicz to Memphis

After the embarrassing showing by the pitching staff and bullpen during the Dodgers series, the Cardinals have made a move to bolster their staff by signing free agent left-hander Zach Britton to a one year contract.

Britton who appeared in 3 games for the Yankees last year only completing 0.2 IP and had a 13.50 ERA will be brought in to hopefully return to the success he had in 2019 and 2020 with the Bronx Bombers.

With the signing, Anthony Miesiewicz was optioned to Memphis with is bloated ERA of over 14.
