Found some rosters I like with the new guys from Japan and Tatis not introduced as a rookie so lets get started

Big Spending Rangers Look to Compete While Implementing Six Top One Hundred Prospects into The Show

They say everything is bigger in Texas and the way The Rangers have handled this rebuild confirms it. A year after spending 500 mil on the likes of Semien and Seager, they went and spent another 400 mil to bring in Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi to shore up a pitching staff who found a gem in Martin Perez.
That mixed with 3B Josh Jung who has been given the green light for opening day and the likes of prospects Owen White, Justin Fonscue and Dustin Harris who all might find themselves in The Show at some point this season, things looks promising. Then to top it all off Texas has the duo of Rocker and Leiter waiting in the wings. Safe to say the future looks bright in Arlington.
With new manager and World Series winner with San Francisco Bruce Bochy at the helm Texas will look to have its first winning season since 2016, when they also last won the division.

Cardinals drop another series...this time to the Giants

The Cardinals (16-10) dropped their second straight series, this time losing 3 of 4 to the Giants in San Francisco to begin the week. The Cardinals now lead the Cubs by 3.5 games in the NL Central.

The Cardinals got the victory Monday night was Jack Flaherty was perfect thru 6.1 innings, before Brandon Crawford broke up the perfect game with a single up the middle. Flaherty would get thru 7 innings allowing a run on 2 hits while fanning 9. Juan Yepez and Willson Contreras were the offensive sparks, both posting an RBI with 2 hits.

Miles Mikolas got no love in his start as the bullpen blew a late lead in the 9th, as Ryan Helsley failed to convert a save for the first time this season. Helsley would take the loss giving up a walk off single to Michael Conforto in the bottom of the 9th as the Cardinals fell 3-2.

Steven Matz was roughed up in his start on Wednesday as the Giants tagged him for 6 earned runs on 7 hits thru just 4 innings. Matz would pitch the 5th and thankfully escaped further damage when JD Davis hit into an inning ending double play with the bases loaded. The Giants would run away with this one 7-1.

Thursday, Adam Wainwright pitched well but still took the loss as the offense failed to do anything. The lone run came when JD Davis over threw 2nd base on a double play attempt that would have ended the inning allowing Dylan Carlson to score on the error. Other than that, the offense produced nothing. The Giants took the victory 5-1 and the series.

The Cardinals will wrap up the month of April and their west coast trip with a 3 game series against the Dodgers in LA.

Cardinals make first trade of season

The Cardinals made their first trade of the season by partnering with the Braves on a minor league trade involving players with big league experience.

The Cardinals sent 26 year LHP Jojo Romero to the Braves in exchange for 26 year old OF Magnerius Sierra. Both players were on the 40 man roster and both teams needed depth at the respective positions they got in return due to injuries.

Sierra a one time Cardinal will actually be called up to the big leagues as the team has optioned OF Lars Nootbaar to Memphis. Nootbaar is coming off a rib injury and continues to struggle mightily at the plate, where he has just 2 hits in 43 at-bats. He has also committed 2 errors in left field. The Cards hope a move to Memphis will allow Lars to get his form back we saw in the Spring and return to the big league club.

With Sierra joining the big league club, Tyler O'Neill will slide to his more natural position of left field where he's won a gold glove. Sierra will anchor center field thanks to his high quality defense, and will provide speed at the bottom of the lineup.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Decided to roll without the CAPS for Tatis, Fujinami and Senga, and replace them with some of the WBC players:

Padres - Murakami for Tatis Jr.
        Mets - Saski for Senga
        A's - Minarik for Fujinami.

Makes it my own universe. As always, I'll be rolling with my NY Mets. Excited to get into 2023

Diamondbacks Offense Sputters, Lose 2/3 to Cardinals

Arizona had their coldest offensive series of the season, and the pitching wasn't there in the key moments, as the Dbacks would drop 2/3 to the Cardinals(12-7) in St. Louis. They now sit 1.5 back of San Diego in the NL West, and are in fourth place.

Game 1: 2 out double by McCarthy then a single by Marte gave the Dbacks a 1-0 lead. Christian Walker added on a solo shot to center in the Top of the 7th which drove Mikolas out after a solid 6.1 after giving up 4 hits, 1 walk and 2 runs. Willson Contreras would then take the first pitch Kyle Nelson threw over the bullpen in left to make it 2-1. Nelson would bounce back however and strike out the side. Bottom nine, still up one Mantiply would give up a leadoff Double to Goldy, who then advanced to third with one out. He then would get two straight weakly hit ground balls to get himself out of a jam and get the Dbacks the Game 1 victory.

Game 2: Davies started off ok, until he gave up a RBI single to Arenado in the third. We go to the fourth and fifth where the Cardinals tacked a run on each to make it 3-0. However, the DBacks sprung a two out rally with an Alek Thomas single and then an Emmanuel Rivera HR to take Flaherty(Who had been dealing) out of the game. A Pavin Smith SAC fly would tie the game in the 7th. No teams would score after that and then Nolan Gorman would drive in the ghost runner with two outs to secure the 4-3 sub for St. Louis

Game 3: Waino was in retro form for Game 3 as he absolutely dominated the Diamondbacks hitters. They could not get a run off of him, and when they could score, it was far too little, and too late. Plus someone finally was able to hit Ryne Nelson, so that cumulatively turned into a 3-1 loss for the Dbacks, and their worst offensive series of the season as the bats seemed to have cooled off.

The Dbacks are now traveling back to the desert for a 7 game homestand, that starts with 4 crucial games against the Padres(11-9) who currently lead the division.

              Probable Starters
              Bumgarner (2-0, 2.00) v Musgrove (1-3, 2.63)
              Gallen (3-1, 2.25) v Darvish (2-2, 2.08)
              Jameson (1-2, 10.50) v Snell (4-0, 4.50)
              Davies (0-2, 4.58) v Lugo (0-2, 7.45)

              League Notes
Julio Urias threw the 27th no hitter in LAD history against the Mets.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion

After our brief skid, we have rattled off 11 wins in a row and have retaken first place in the NL West. We sit at 27-5 and 3 games ahead of the 24-8 LA Dodgers, who we are about to begin a 3 game series with at home.

                Blake Snell (3-0) 0.25 ERA 50 K's 35.2 IP vs Tony Gonsolin (4-1) 2.95 ERA
Seth Lugo (2-0) 3.86 ERA vs Dustin May (2-3) 3.68 ERA
Michael Wacha (4-2) 2.81 ERA vs Noah Syndergaard (3-0) 3.10 ERA.

Since coming off the IL Nelson Cruz has been red hot raising his average from .116 to .318 with 5 HR's. The time off must have reinvigorated the 42 year old veteran.

                        2023 Washington Nationals

The Nationals (36-43) travel to Queens to take on the Mets (39-40) for three games.

                        Game 1: Cade Cavalli (4-7, 4.00) vs Tylor Megill (10-2, 2.78)
The Nationals got to Megill in the first, leading the game off with singles from Brady House and Luis Garcia followed by a double from Brandon Drury. Garcia was aggressive on the bases and was able to score as the throw was offline. Drury would then score when Joey Meneses singled; he would probably have been thrown out if the throw had been on target, but it was not and the Nationals took an early 3-0 lead. The Nationals would add on, but it was not until the seventh off reliever Jordan Yamamoto. Kike Hernandez, Brady House, Luis Garcia, and Yadiel Hernandez would hit four base hits in a row to drive in two more runs before the Mets pulled Yamamoto and brought in Hansel Robles. He would get out of the inning without any further damage. Cade Cavalli would go six shutout innings, giving up just four hits and striking out four while walking zero. He could have gone an inning longer but the Nationals did not want to risk it. Colin Poche, Aaron Bummer and Victor Arano each pitched a shutout inning and the Nationals took game one of the series.

Game Two: Stephen Strasburg (6-6, 2.11) vs David Peterson (2-5, 3.28)
Washington took the lead in the top of the second when Gleyber Torres hit a solo home run, but the Mets answered in the bottom half. Tyler Stephenson doubled with two outs and scored when Eduardo Escobar singled. Strasburg and Peterson would then pitch scoreless ball for the next four innings. Peterson was then pulled after five and Jordan Yamamoto pitched a shutout sixth and seventh. Joely Rodriguez came in to pitch the eighth; giving up singles to Gleyber Torres and Brandon Nimmo before throwing a wild pitch to Keibert Ruiz that allowed both runners to advance. Ruiz then singled up the middle to score Torres. Doelis Guerra would replace Rodriguez and give up a base hit to Victor Robles, allowing Nimmo to score from third. The hits would keep coming; Brady House singled to load the bases and Kike Hernandez hit a bloop single that could not be caught to score Ruiz. Ildemaro Vargas then roped a line drive to right to score Robles before Brandon Drury broke the hit streak by striking out. The Mets would replace Guerra with Hansel Robles, who forced Joey Meneses to hit a bat shattering ground ball to first for the second out. Brady House would be able to score, and the inning would finally end when Gleyber Torres grounded out. The Nationals batted around and knocked in seven hits (all singles) to score five runs. This inning was the turning point, as the Mets were completely taken out of the game and Aaron Bummer and Victor Arano had an easy final two innings to give the Nationals yet another series win.

Game Three: MacKenzie Gore (5-7, 3.98) vs Max Scherzer (3-8, 3.93)
The Nationals once again were the first to score, but it took until the fourth inning. Brandon Drury hit a solo home run on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, which was also the longest at-bat for the Nationals up to that point. Both Scherzer and Gore were dominant early, and Gore would only give up one hit in his first four innings of work. The Nationals added a second run in the fifth; Keibert Ruiz hit a solo home run on a hanging curveball to put Washington up 2-0. The Mets scored in the sixth; Mark Canha singled and scored on a Luis Guillorme double. That would be the end of MacKenzie Gore’s outing, he went 5.1 innings, giving a run on just three hits, walking two and striking out five. Colin Poche would get out of the inning, and Carl Edwards Jr and Aaron Bummer would follow with two shutout innings. The Nationals added on in the top of the ninth; Keone Kela walked lead-off hitter Joey Meneses and Gleyber Torres would follow with a two-run home run to put the Nationals up 4-1 late. The Mets would attempt to rally in the bottom of the ninth, getting their first two batters on base against; but Trevor Rosenthal got out of the jam and remained perfect on the year. And with that, the Nationals earn a three game sweep; something they haven’t been able to do in a long, long time.

The Nationals are now 39-43 and are 8-2 in their last 10. They will now travel to Chicago to take on the Cubs (40-41) before facing the Pirates at home. The division is most likely Atlanta's yet again, as they have been one of the hottest teams in baseball, but a Wild Card spot is still a possibility for the Nationals. We are approaching July 1, and Washington is showing they are ready to contend.

Cardinals drop series to Dodgers..finish April 17-12

The Cardinals (17-12) dropped another series, this time to the Dodgers in Los Angeles over the weekend as the month of April is officially in the books. The Cardinals now lead the Cubs by just a single game in the NL Central.

This series was frustrating as the Cardinals had a good shot at sweeping the series and even better chance to win the series, but only manged to salvage the Sunday finale.

The Cardinals lost Friday night despite Jordan Montgomery pitching well. The Cardinals trailed 2-0 and were being dominated by Julio Urias but broke thru in the 6th to score two runs and tie the game. They would lose in extras, in the most unusual fashion. With one out and a runner on second, Anthony Miswiecz got Max Muncy to strike out on a ball in the dirt, but it was mishandled by Contreras. Contreras ensuing throw to first to get the out ended up in right field allowing the winning run to score.

On Saturday, more heartache. After Jack Flaherty tamed the bats the Dodgers thru 7 innings, Jordan Hicks promptly let is all slip away in the 8th giving up 5 runs as the Dodgers would win 6-3.

Sunday thankfully, the Cardinals avoided the sweep as Miles Mikolas went 6 innings striking out 7 to keep his record perfect at 4-0. The bullpen tandem of Drew Van Hagen, Giovanny Gallegos, and Ryan Helsley shut the door to earn the victory.

The Cardinals are off on Monday as they travel back home to St.Louis to welcome the other Los Angeles team, the Angels to town for a 3 game series beginning on Tuesday night.

Cardinals claim Alex Reyes off waivers from Dodgers

It wasn't a complete loss, the trip to Los Angeles. The Cardinals claimed 28 year old RHP Alex Reyes off outright waivers, bringing him back home to St.Louis. Reyes was waived after the Dodgers selected the contract of Andy Pages to replace an injured Mookie Betts who will miss roughly a month due to a pectoral injury suffered Friday night.

Reyes will join the 40 man roster but report to Memphis before likely being called up to the parent club. Moises Gomez was outrighted to make room on the 40 man roster.

The Cardinals are desperate for relief depth/help as the arms in the minors are really struggling thru the first month of the season.

Miles Mikolas earns National League Pitcher of the Month for April

In more good news for the Cardinals, RHP Miles Mikolas was named the National League Player of the Month for April. Mikolas put together a great month going 4-0 in 6 starts with 32 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.32.

                            Congratulations to Miles!
