At the end of April the Beavers sit at 16-12 definitely exceeding expectations so far. They are 3 games out of first place behind the Yankees and right in the Wild card mix. I don't think we can keep this up but we shall see.

Offensive Studs:
Williams Astudillo has been leading the way in avg hitting.295 while Miguel Sano has 8 Home runs. Drew Jackson, Jonathan Villar, Tim Beckham, and Dee Strange Gordon have all been solid so far.

Offensive Duds:
All the Outfield spots besides Dee have definitely been struggles. Nomar Mazara is hitting.207 while Williams and Kennelly are around .230. will be looking to upgrade there soon. Also Phil Gosselin and Jaxx Groshans have not been good either.

Pitching Studs:
Alec Mills has been my best pitcher by far with a 2.12 Era going 3-1. Chris Archer has also been solid with a 2.40 Era but has struggled with walks. In the pen Daniel Mengden has been a beast with a 1.65 Era in the long relief and Jose Alvarez and Corey Knebel have been great as well.

Pitching Duds:
My 4-5 guys Jace Vines and Steven Brault have not been good and will be looking to improve there.

Injuries:
Nothing so far..

Transactions:
Claimed Michael Rucker from the Cubs currently in Double A. We traded Andrelton Simmons to the Twins for Jorge Acala to. Called up Cadyn Grenier and optioned Robert Stock. Claimed Dauri Moreta from the Pirates. Optioned Nick Banks and called up Justin Williams. Claimed Isan Diaz from the Giants. Traded Robert Stock to the Mets for Drew Smith.

I hope to keep improving and seeing who's going to stick around. There will definitely be more moving parts this month as well.

Started a few franchises to get a feel for which team I want to roll with. I’m seeing some questionable lineup choices for a couple teams.

The Mets went with Bret Baty at DH leaving better options on the bench.

The Padres were playing Nelson Cruz in right field while playing a bench player ( can’t remember who) at DH.

Neither team has any injuries.

Thanks to Cruz i was able to hit 2 triples with Kris Bryant. And several doubles.

Everyone always complains about bullpen usage but I think lineup’s might be just as questionable.

I don’t want to do 30 team control so I guess I’ll just have to look past it.

Diamondbacks Continue to Beat up Padres, take 3/4

The Dbacks(12-11) got back to their winning ways of late by taking three of four against the Padres(12-12) at Chase Field. They now sit tied atop the NL West with the Dodgers(12-11), as this division has stumbled out of the gate. They are now also 5-1 against the Padres so far this year.

Game 1: This one started off hot. Walker got us started with a solo shot, we’d tack on one more in the inning. Ultimately, Musgrove once again was roughed up by the Dbacks making it through 4 innings and giving up 5 runs. Dbacks would continue to smoke the ball after he left, and would leave this one with a 12-5 win. Bumgarner pitched well going 7 innings giving up 5 hits, 3 earned, with 9 Ks. Ketel Marte had 3 XB hits and 3 RBIs. Carson Kelly had 4 RBI as well.

Game 2 would certainly live up to the pitchers duel everyone was looking forward to. At least it would end that way, Gallen gave up a lead off home run to Bogaerts to start the game, and would give up 2 more runs over his 5.1 innings pitched in his worst performance of the year. Darvish however was spectacular as the DBacks only could muster 4 hits and 3 walks, as he struck out 8 on his way to a complete game shutout.

Game 3 was dominated by the Padres early, where they put up 4 in the second inning. However Arizona would come back with 2 of their own in the bottom half, and tack on a 3rd in the 3rd. However, after that both sides defensively, until the 7th inning where Jake McCarthy got a 2 out pinch hit single scores 2 to take the 5-4 lead. Tim Hill walked in a run two batters later. And then one pitch after a successful Dbacks challenge which ruled Carroll safe at 1st, , Ketel Marte would provide an insurance run with a RBI double. Arizona would win this one 7-4. Sidenote the Dbacks would also draw a season high 9 walks in the contest.

Game 4: The Dbacks really never had a doubt in this one. Once they took the lead it was never close and they never looked back. Zach Davies pitched wonderfully going 6 innings with 2 hits and no runs. Christian Walker hit his second homer of the series to extend the Dback lead to 3-0, which would become 5-0. The Padres would tack on one in the 9th but ultimately it would not matter.

Now the Dbacks welcome the Royals to town(11-11) for three and look to end their homestand with the streak that they are on.

Probable Starters

Nelson (2-2, 2.22) v Yarbrough (2-1, 3.22)
Bumgarner (3-0, 2.52) v Lyles (1-2, 4.50)
Gallen (3-2, 2.70) v Keller (2-2, 5.56)

League Notes:
Texas Rangers RHP Jake DeGrom is expected to miss 1-2 months with a fractured forearm. He has been added to the 60 IL, tough break for the Rangers big money move of the offseason. The Rangers hope to hang on in the AL West race, as they currently are in second place 2.5 GB.

Atlanta Braves RHP Spencer Strider has been put on the 60 Day IL as he suffered a torn pectoral muscle. A big loss for the Braves who currently sit in 2nd in the NL East by 4.5 games.

2023 Pittsburgh Pirates 03/30-04/09

Overall Record:4-5 (4th NL Central (1.5 behind 6-4 Cubs)

Pirates end first home series one game under .500

The Pittsburgh Pirates won 2 of 3 against the Cincinnati Reds in their first series of 2023. After that, Pittsburgh has had to salvage the last game of the next two series against the Boston Red sox and Chicago White sox to avoid sweeps.

Pittsburgh was able to win game three against Chicago thanks to a solid outing by 29 year old JT Brubaker (7.0 IP 3 ER 5 SO). Brubaker did allow a ton of its (10) but that has been the norm for Pirate starters early on in the 2023 season. The 'power' bats in Pittsburgh's lineup also contributed to the win as Bryan Reynolds (2), Oneil Cruz (3) and Jack Suwinski (1) homered in the game to lead Pittsburgh to the sweep saving 6-3 victory.

Pittsburgh will need to get their bats going as the season continues on in its early stage as the team currently sits 29th in the league in batting average (.212, barely above Oaklands .211).

Pittsburgh's early slate doesnt get any easier as the reigning world series champion Houston Astros come to town for a three game set.

*edit 1* I know Pittsburgh doesnt have any orange colors (text at the top) but I figured yellow wouldnt be very appeasing to the eyes.

*edit 2* I had to restart my last game twice due to crashes once in the 7th inning with a 7-3 lead and another time in the 4th with a 1-0 lead. After that second crash I just started saving and exiting after each inning...hopefully that doesnt persist.

Well pretty frustrated.....6 games into my franchise and I've noticed the Rangers stadium has this odd haze kr glare to it in certain games with the stadium open or closed and it's really bothering me. It's like playing the game in the fog. Don't think i can do this. It makes me not want to play home games.....

Cardinals sweep the Angels in St.Louis

The Cardinals (20-12) swept the Angels to begin the week in St.Louis. The sweep keeps the Cardinals one game ahead of the Cubs who have won 9 straight games.

The Cardinals won this series with pitching, as the Angels managed just 2 runs the entire series. Better than that, the combo of Trout and Ohtani combined for just one hit in the 3 games. While pitching was great, Oli Marmol is growing concerned with the offense. The Cardinals managed just 6 runs in the 3 games themselves, and never recorded more than 5 hits in any of the games.

The Cardinals will stay home after a much needed off day Thursday as they welcome the Tigers to town for the weekend, before hitting the road next week to Chicago and Boston.

Decided to hop in on the fun, even though sticking with 22. Decided to go ahead and roll in the updated rosters (thanks to the vault) and run with the new franchises starting up in this thread.

Was torn between Toronto, Cincy & Tampa but decided on going with the Rays since they're A affiliate is local and am able to catch a lot of games. I have always had a hard time using my favorite team in franchise mode, so decided to give this a go.

Heading into this franchise, the most games I have ever got through is 60ish so I am going to attempt my first 162 playing them all.

I didn’t miss Cano either. I didn’t use him in Spring Training and traded him pretty quick once Regular season started.

Cardinals take series against Tigers

The Cardinals (22-15) took 2 games of a 3 game series against the Tigers in St.Louis over the weekend. The Cardinals lead is now 2 games over the Cubs.

The Cardinals won the first two of the series extending their winning streak to 5 games before losing Sunday as Steven Matz again was rocked on the mound. Matz is struggling to find any consistency in his starts and its starting to raise a concern amongst the managers, front office and fans.

On the other hand, Miles Mikolas moved to 5-0 with his win on Saturday and holds a 1.03 ERA. Mikolas struck out 8 batters over 7 innings of work Saturday.

The Cardinals will travel to Chicago for a 3 game series with the Cubs as they try to extend their lead in the NL Central. The Cardinals will then travel to Boston on Thursday to face the Red Sox for a 3 game weekend series at Fenway Park.

Good luck man I look forward to the read. I always have an issue playing with my team the Mets. I let feelings towards how they doing in real life effect me in game. Game been out a week I have switched my franchise team 3 times already. I might never make it past the first series of the year in franchise mode. A common issue for me every year
