But it affects pitchers in full 9 inning games the same way.

It's prevented by making your pitching changes on the bullpen screen. Usually the quick menu works too, but I'd just rather play it safe.
Ah. I think I'm more amazed I've been playing the game this long and somehow avoided seeing that here. Now that you mention it though, I've noticed that in-game before but I don't always use the schedule to pitch next inning (I most often just use the quick menu), so I don't know that I would've connected the dots on the cause. Good to know.

I didn’t know it was a thing anybody else thought of but I picked up on that issue with last year’s game. Every time I clicked to insert the pitcher the inning before he never felt crisp the next inning and I stopped doing it. Interesting that I wasn’t out of my mind.

Players - like the guy struggling with Diaz go into slumps for sure. I played 162 with Toronto last year and Romano was awful to start the season but was dominant after the slow start. That’s what makes the game great. However there is a lot of scripting that goes into a 162 Season. The one I hated to see was when my team would go through the error brigade. You will go from being the best fielding team in the league to the Bad News Bears - then after 4-5 games be back to normal. You can deny this stuff doesn’t exist - I’ve played 162… it’s there.

      Team Bullpen Slump
      Starting Pitching Slump
Hot pitching streaks where your rotation is like the 90s Braves
      Power surges and cold snaps
      The Error Series or two
      The Bonehead base running stage

But then again, it’s kind of how a real season goes to… is what it is

Then with about a month and a half left everything goes back to balanced. Don’t believe me? Go play 162.

Its my favorite part about the game. It makes me feel like I really have to manage the team/player through the rough patches.

What a interesting thread this has been.
I have never thought the game had a comeback code.
I thought the “beat my wife” comment was comical.
I actually had to google the “R” word…..I’m old and had no clue, was afraid I might step on a land mine. I wasn’t sure what else had changed in our world but it ended up being a word I never use.

Yea I don't believe in it either. People get stuck in patterns in the way they pitch and CPU picks up on our patterns. I used to pitch like that and gave up late comebacks. But since I changed my pitching habits, changing speeds, location, etc., also not always throwing first pitch strikes the frequent late comebacks have for the most part stopped.

I missed the R word post, someone’s going to have to message me that one.

If your married or have a g/f kids etc. and you’re finally done w/ everything for the day, your battling in peace, and all of a sudden bam!!! Blow a 5 run lead in the 9th! About that time your wife asks a question & the veins popping out of the neck. They never yell, “Hey can you come here real quick?” And you can’t wait bc you already feel guilty you vanished to the man cave and she’s slaving - they never yell that when you’re changing lineups, it’s always when there’s someone in scoring position and the count is 1-2. Never fails and you want to just strangle someone lol.

I NEVER use schedule to pitch. Havent for 3 or 4 years. Always messed up something when I did. What I do is, I stretch and toss till 2 outs or guy on first (in case of DP), then I warm up, If I go 2 batters past warm up, I go to ready and waiting. When next inning starts, I bring my pitcher in.

The game doesnt see any of that. Im sorry. It sees 1s and 0s. The game cant manage a bullpen, rotation, know what weakness it has team wise, or anything outside of programming and you think it has AI to read your tendencies..........? Nope, sorry, dont agree with that.

False when it comes to on the field. This game knows my tendencies. If I swing at pitches out of the zone, it will continue to pitch out of the zone. If I'm a sucker for the low change up, it'll keep throwing it until I stop swinging at it.

Hey Forme….on All-Star and above it does pick up on your pitching and hitting tendencies.

Absolutely. It’s what makes this game the best console sports simulation out there.

I would say this too. When you play a full 162 you are getting the full monty of potential outcomes.

If guys are playing 40-50 games and simming the rest….yeah you are going to get a far less robust playing experience. Baseball is all about reversion to the mean and sometimes you get outliers both above and below the mean and those are called Storylines!!!

Right now he’s got a 2-6 record with an era around 4 and about ten blown saves. I just found out about two weeks ago that using the schedule to pitch next inning option causes lowered confidence and I had been using that all season so I just think I’m past the point of no return with the confidence and that’s why his pitches end up nowhere near where I want them. Hopefully next season he’s back to normal
Is that new to 23? I never knew that either, and I use that schedule to pitch quite often. I already went back to playing 22 back in late April, does it affect confidence in 22 also?

Guess I've been out of "playing mode" to long. My apologies for the inaccurate statement. You don't see that stuff in Manage mode.

Well Manage mode is a wreck and I love sports games to much to shelf, so I started "playing" franchise again. HOF default clean screen classic/directional using saved 4/21 live roster.

Everyone who says the game plays great, perfect, are absolutely correct. Nothing wrong with the game at all. Just playing it the wrong way. Have to PLAY, cant manage, sim or play any other way.
