Absolutely. I just busted out of a L9 with a 10-1 win, felt absolutely awesome. 66-69 on the year and have loved every single moment of it, struggles and all.

Another thing I wanted to mention is that there’s a lot of disrespect to the game baseball going on in this thread. We’re talking about a sport where a couple centimeters and/or a couple milliseconds can be the difference between an inning-ending DP and a 6-run outburst. The ebbs and flows of strategically managing each scenario and circumstance that comes along is the very reason I play this game.
    Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Absolutely. It’s what makes this game the best console sports simulation out there.

I would say this too. When you play a full 162 you are getting the full monty of potential outcomes.

If guys are playing 40-50 games and simming the rest….yeah you are going to get a far less robust playing experience. Baseball is all about reversion to the mean and sometimes you get outliers both above and below the mean and those are called Storylines!!!

How do you know it's all-star and above? Where's your evidence of that?

I recognize you as a long time member of this forum. I'm curious why you returned to 22.

My only evidence Mr Holmes is Rookie and Veteran level is cake.

The CPU is weak below All-Star. They don’t pose any threat pitching (fat over the plate meatballs galore).

Once you get to All-Star and above it becomes a game of chess.

Playing this game for over 15 years you kinda have a good feel for what’s going on.

I believe the CPU will pick up tendencies on all levels but it’s more prominent on the higher difficulty levels. I’m almost certain All-Star is the baseline between higher/lower difficulty levels.

If you read the in game strategy guide it even suggests that it occurs on all levels with the “skill” being scaled down for lower difficulty levels

A lot of this thread, is similar to the stuff I read on fan forums for actual baseball.

I don’t fret too much on what happens in game. If Bartolo Colon can hit a HR in real life, anything is possible in sports!

I play exclusively franchise-manage full game. Do you think the AI picks up it's own tendencies at higher levels?

                        Yup.

I've seen pitchers give up four runs in the first and then shut the opposition down for another five.

I don't know. I can play a game to the 9th and have and saved and exited then play that 9th inning scenario multiple times and get different results.

Maybe one could argue that reloading the game changes what is "predicted" to happen.

I had a game like this. I was up 4-3, pitching in the top of the 9th and played the scenario in franchise 10 times. For context I was up 4-1 in the 7th and gave up a 2 run double in the 8th. In these 10 scenarios, I was able to get the save 8/10, score was tied 1/10, and the CPU took the lead on a 2 run homer 1/10.

I also have the scenario where it was tied 4-4 going into the bottom of the 9th saved but haven't tested it yet.

It seems like to me this "comeback code" isn't there. If it was in my opinion, the CPU gaining momentum in the 8th would have carried over and they would have been unstoppable.

                          It's baseball, outcomes differ.

Agreed, not there. I had a game yesterday where I took a two run lead in the top of the 11th. CPU comes up, one out, single scores the runner. I get another out, walk a batter. Next batter hits a deep fly to left. Sciambi yells out “swung on and belted”. I thought 2 run walk off. My left fielder catches the ball back against the wall.

If it goes out some are gonna scream “scripted”….”comeback code”.

I have no idea why the ball didn’t travel an extra 5 feet over the fence and I’m not even going to go there. The game replicates the game beautifully, IMO….I went from “oh, $hit!” When he hit it to….”yeah!” When it was caught.

That’s one thing I’ve noticed since the commentary team changed, you don’t instantly know it’s a home run anymore based on the commentary
