I would love to know how OOTP is able to have every season in baseball history?!!

How are all those players being compensated? Decades of players. All-time greats.

I absolutely want that option (historical seasons) in the Show. I doubt I would play any other game.

I think OOTP is able to do it because they only use the names. When The Show has to license a player, what they're paying for is the rights to use their likeness. OOTP isn't trying to recreate these players visually.

Man. The hype for this years game is almost at a zero for me. Having the Jeter storyline in the game and me being a Yankee fan is the only thing that has me sort of excited to play. Other than that, from what we've seen, not much has changed especially for offline franchise players. This game definitely needs to a new coat of paint. Im hoping once last gen is left behind, this game starts to move forward. Honestly, at this point, id be ok with a roster update for 23 if that meant having a longer dev cycle.

While my hype is also at zero due to me not caring about storylines I still know we have two more presentations and I will buy it even if my hype stays at zero for new rosters

We already know the last feature premiere is for Live Content so if you have no interest in DD then there's only one presentation left to have any hope for.

The Show does not prioritize having franchise mode being that deep. For many, that's fine, for others, it is an issue. The Show has always been about gameplay first and has typically always knocked that out of the park, pun intended, but it's clear their priorities within franchise mode do not align with many here that want that mode to be the star of the show.

There's a misconception here on these boards that because The Show has gameplay on the field and prettier graphics, that it cannot possibly try to have a franchise mode that mirrors what OOTP's career mode has. That's not really how it works. The guys that work on the franchise side of things have the same capabilities as those that work on the career mode side of things in OOTP or NBA 2k, it's just different studios prioritize different things. It's clear as day, too, that over the years SDS does not exactly have franchise mode as their top priority. Not having expanded rosters to this day shows what they aim for with the mode. And, for many, it's good enough. For others, it's not. There's not a right or wrong way for them to go about franchise mode, the quality of it really just depends on what the user wants out of the mode. For a casual experience, it does its job well and I believe that is all SDS wants out of it, so they are mostly happy with it.
I find some frustration in the fact that over the years, SDS has removed features from franchise mode and from general gameplay. These features specifically for me are the financial or “owner mode” type features and the real time broadcast. Now for one reason or another SDS has decided those features which were essentially built in 2005 or 2006 were no longer valuable for the game. But this is the same path Madden followed to much disdain by a core community of users. In contrast, a game like NBA 2K rarely removes any features (though they are also rarely added but when they are they tend to be well implemented such as their eras mode). When 2K removes features such as their move to MyGM in 2K14, there has been steady progress toward adding those features back to the game. I think with both MLBTS and Madden, most of the frustration comes from the seemingly arbitrary removal of features (likely to increase revenue in other modes), and the refusal to work toward restoring the previous capability of the user.

I should have prefaced that previous comment with my belief that the developers at SDS should not be fired for being “lazy” or laid off (which seems to be a serious possibility due to Sony’s actions this week and the wider market for video game entertainment). I think they are clearly skilled, however it is my belief that there are shortcomings in the direction of the studio and possibly with Sony Interactive Entertainment as a whole.

Ill say this it looks great, and i know it isnt out yet and well find out in a few weeks. But it looks like the same recycled stuff from the last 12 years. It is a great series but not having an MVP or 2k around lets them be lax on innovation. I really hope some competition comes along to shake things up as far as baseball video games go.

It wouldn't impact anything in franchise mode other than giving you another reason to play it.
This wouldn't be bad and only play moments in DD. I used to enjoy collecting cards in All Star Baseball and even Madden cards back in the day.

That's what cards used to be about.
