This year I'm attacking Spring Training differently than I have previously, I'm playing them but with generated quick counts on. As for the regular season I'm seriously considering playing one out of every three games and simming the other two out of three. If after one season of playing that way doesn't scratch my itch, I'll return to playing all 162.

Actually, quick count spring training is a pretty good idea. Got me thinking now.

I completely get that, I guess that's why I don't wanna sim Spring Training, as that gets me more involved and familiar with my team.

I guess I was mainly talking about multiple game series, will you play all the games, sim 1 then play, or just play the whole series.

No I don't sim regular season games unless it's maybe the last month of the season and I'm well out of contention

Love this thread and hearing how others approach their year-long franchise.

I'm doing the same thing I did last year. Play 162 with the Mets as well as random MLB Games throughout the year. Play all Postseason games alternating user-controlled teams. 30-team control so I handle all lineups, trade deadlines and injuries.

And then starting in 2025, I'll pick a team to rebuild and do the Play 1, Sim 5 to get through a couple of seasons.

I also have my RTTS player in my franchise universe, so I'll be playing every at-bat with that player. New for this year, I'm going to start him in MLB in 2024. He'll be 21 years-old and not a high overall. I found waiting 2+ years to get him to MLB took away my ability to play his full MLB career because I waste time in minors. I want him to struggle his first few years and then blossom into a star. When I start in the minors, my attributes progress to high so when he makes his debut, he's always ROY and soon to be All-Star/MVP.

Open to rebuilding suggestions, I did Pittsburgh last year and had a blast

Your Mets just might be the perfect rebuild.
Marte will probably start regressing
Polar Bear is going to free agency next season
Pitching staff really doesn’t have much long term talent
Some potential pieces to start building around and a tight budget to start but lots of money available by the time you’re ready to really contend.

Hey guys, didn't wanna start a separate thread for this, but was just wondering since we're talking about our teams and what-not, I was wondering how much (if any) do you sim vs play?

That's a whole lotta games to get through especially with Spring Training (which I like to play to evaluate my roster and bullpen)

So just wondering how you fellas handle the long season..my apologies if this in any way disrupts the original intention of this thread.

I've always done he Play 1 - Sim 5 method, but I do have some limited playing so I plan on switching it with a bit more simming this year. I think my current plan is to just kind of let the season come to me and see. I think the Mr. Hurriicane approach from YouTube is a solid way to go about things. I'd say it is roughly 2-3 full games a month, 2-3 other partial games a month, some critical situations, etc.

I want to feel connected to my team while also getting through more than 2 seasons, which I've never done without a massive sim.

I am setting a goal of five full seasons before 25. I would love to eventually do 162 games, I think the closest I got was about 125 or so before fizzling.

By the time October gets here I should have 3 seasons in with NY. If the Dodgers are killing it, I will play a season in Colorado, see if I cant knock down a peg or two the best team money can buy.

A lot of pessimism about the game so far this year ( and much of it is warranted) but just thought I’d try and change the conversation up a bit.

So for those buying (or those still on the fence), who you got?

Almost 99% sure I’ll be running with the Mets this year. A somewhat aging over priced team that definitely needs some help. Hasn’t won since’86. Never had an MVP.

Feels like a challenge.

I will use the Mets but to add realism I will start with roster as is for realism even though they will have a low payroll since the game not setup to show Mets paying max and Justin still

As an Orioles fan, I can't wait to build off the surprising 101 win season from a year ago and see how long it takes me to win the World Series. I'm excited to play with this roster and hopefully see it grow over time and make a dynasty out of it. I will probably do an A's Franchise and do the relocation to Vegas and see if I can rebuild them and bring a World Series to Las Vegas.

Ugh Las Vegas. I've played a season or ten in my time with Oakland but I'll be damned if I ever play with them again once the A's relocate. It's the same reason I'm not ever going to play with the Expo team that plays in DC now, tho the fact they compete in the NL East with the Mets doesn't help their case. But I could at least run a season with Atlanta or Miami, tho I would probably sim the games versus NY.

Cubs with generated pitch count. I've tried playing spring training games but i end up borad and sim to the start of the regular season. I tried playing with the Cubs and Padres last year but didn't get far so one team it is.

But it’s gonna be hell waiting for Imanaga to be added and there’s no point starting without him cause I’ll just restart. So maybe mess around with Cleveland in the meantime
