I'm going back to the Braves after using the A's last year. Towards the end of the year, I was missing the Braves, and the fact that they've got a newish jersey this year is enough reason for me.

Or are there other teams that come to your mind?
Orioles aren't a middle of the league team anymore, they had the best record in the AL last year, and are a very young team poised to be a World Series contender for years to come. They're also one of the most heavy US-born rosters out there.

The Mets have a middle of the road roster this year, but it shouldn't be hard to do very well in Free Agency your first offseason with their budget. They're pretty US-heavy too.

The Blue Jays are a good option, but my pick is the Marlins. They're historically very bad, but they won 84 games last year. They also have a pretty diverse roster, with nearly half of it born outside the US. And Miami itself is the major US metro area with the highest foreign born population, so that adds to the atmosphere too. There's a reason the Caribbean Series (a winter league tournament that consist of teams from around Latin America) was held in Miami this year, and did very well. Marlins have a great pitching staff, little weaker on the lineup side of things.

I was mentioning a few back also that the Mets should have a low payroll as the game does not have the ability to have the Mets still paying Scherzer and Verlander like they do in real MLB

That occured to me as well. James McCann too. Overall, that's $50 million.

Padres are an interesting option that I don’t see anyone mentioning here. Tatis is a fun franchise player, but Machado and Bogaerts will be declining soonish in game and are being paid like superstars for a long while still. Pitching staff is pretty mediocre, especially depending where King’s rating falls. Darvish is old, overpaid, and will regress immediately. Musgrove isn’t getting any better. The bullpen? Yeah. Lineup has sharply regressed from what it’s been on paper the last few years.

There’s definitely prospect talent, but I don’t see any MLB young cheap pieces that are near ‘guaranteed’ to develop into great players after year 1 or 2, like some teams have. They are suddenly no longer a top spender, either. Other than 2022 and the odd COVID year, there hasn’t been much success in a long time. No WS wins. Have to compete with Arizona and the stacked Dodgers.

Unless they somehow end up significantly better rated than they ended up in 23, they could be a really good pick.

Yep a good candidate for a sudden rebuild, especially since they're normally a franchise that doesn't spend much money until recently. You could trade for young pitching and build around Tatis.

I was almost positive I was going with the Mets this year but you’re all putting other options in my head. Hahaha

Lot of us going with Mets it seems. If we all do writeups its going to take over the new franchise thread. Mets all around

Just too invested in the real Jays. Whenever I’ve used them in the show I can’t run the team the way I should because I care too much about the players in real life.

One year I was telling a coworker about the Jays walk off win the night before. Guy was like “ they didn’t play last night “.

I confused my Jays franchise with real life. Hahaha!

Since then I usually use an NL team.

Never ever use an AL East team though. I’m no traitor.

Also I won’t even trade for any current or former Jays in whatever franchise I run with. I get rattled if I don’t have the same level of success as the players in real life.

Where should the Padres place this year? Does people wait for the OSFM rosters to drop then start their franchise? Padres sound like a fun team to play and rebuild realistically. Typical I play exhibition games with the Cincinnati, Kansas City and Baltimore.
