Well I'll be damned, an honest-to-goodness graphical enhancement. Gotta give credit where it's due, better late than never. Hope this is just the beginning and isn't the only enhancement this generation. Faces aren't the only thing that needed work. But I'm glad something is being done.

The gameplay video seems to be just rtts and no pitch clock. But it is a “work in progress” video so here’s hoping.Comment

Well, this is the kind of stuff they should have lead with. But doesn’t matter now. I’m loving what I am seeing here. Very intrigued about the impact plays thing too. They said “enable” in there. So sounds like something we can turn off if we want.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
Yeah, I'd imagine it'll be along the lines of the "Showtime" moments. And it's probably RTTS/Player Lock only.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
Yeah at first glance the "impact plays" sorta seems similar to the "showtime" mechanic, but maybe with a little more focus on those non-routine plays to make them a bit less of a dice roll. Seems like it is RYTS specific which is fine, but curious if they applied it anywhere else.Chicago Cubs

Early pickups from the first minute or so of the gameplay drop -
I note that it's a different scorebug from the one we saw previously in the other blog. Exit Velo now pops on the scorebug along with pitch type and its velocity, so even if you turn the detailed analysis thing off you'll probably still see that.
Commentary is conspicuously absent.
Edit: MB, Exit velo was on the scorebug last year too. Disregard! (though it does actually look different)
Might as well just edit this as I go....
On a double play ground ball a banner saying "TWO TWO TWO" with the PS Triangle button flashes briefly at the top of the screen (until the player pressed the triangle button to preload, probably). Not sure if that's an accessibility thing or part of the regular experience now.
It's not completely uncut gameplay, it's RTTS, they're keeping it on the field and hiding the menu stuff. Though I will say I saw "Equipment Pack" as one of the dynamic challenge rewards so....
11:05 is going to be the bane of my existence if I have this feature on. I won't spoil it (though if you watched the Jeter feature premiere you'll already know).
Framerate throughout looks very solid, only saw noticeable drops in the same place we always do - walkoff celebrations with the whole team on screen. Minor league stadiums only though (which are typically not as graphically demanding as the MLB ones).
Nice postgame (and probably post-series) performance screen with the player model and their team ranking in a couple of categories. Pretty sure that's new.
That's mostly what stood out to me. There are still programs and equipment tied to RTTS according to a few of the dynamic challenges, so they're probably going to have to show a lot to keep most of you guys interested in the mode. I was just happy to finally watch some gameplay - and nothing in that department really disappointed me.Last edited by bcruise; 03-07-2024, 11:29 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
It seems like all the sports games take a few years to really figure out how to handle next gen (NBA 2K didn't really nail it down until 23, etc.), and this is starting to look like The Show has arrived at that point.
I always wait a couple months for community rosters to be taken care of before buying but I might have to get this at launch. Idk I think it looks great.Last edited by ZachenFoot; 03-07-2024, 10:52 AM.Comment
