Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread

Hey Folks. Long time know read huh?

Yes its your friendly neighborhood Bullit and I have returned.

Well I finally have '24 in my hands and a few games under my belt and thought I would share my impressions with folks who don't care what I have to say.

I have played this Series for a very long time, '06 or '07 was my first. Made the transition to the PS4 with '14 and I am still on this gen with '24. '18 was my very favorite and my only Platinum of a sports title. '20 in my opinion was the best that it ever was and still hold a place in my heart. '21 thru '23 where good games. I enjoyed my time with each but I never really "felt" it as I am sure the hardcore on here will understand. Nothing bad about any of them really but it seemed I was more just going thru the motions than really getting invested.

This has all changed for me with '24. From my limited playtime so far I can honestly say I am in love all over again. It really does feel like the "soul" of the game of Baseball is back in this edition. There is just so much to love here. It is really nice to be excited about this game again. Maybe some of it is that I personally am in a much better place in life. But oh my do I have it bad for this game. I am even enjoying RTTS again. I will go into more detailed information about things I like and don't later but I just thought I would drop this now as this years release is just purely the spirit of Baseball for me in so many ways.

    Baseball is better.

    Love ya all

In all the years of playing - we're talking PS1 days - I'd always only used X to hit. A few weeks ago, I decided to try hitting with the right stick. Don't think I can ever go back to buttons now. It's freshened up the game for me.

I've experimented with hitting using the stick a few times over the years, and have always hated it and been horrible at it. I'm happier just finding a combination of settings and sliders that works for my level and sticking with X.

Just played the 1st game of a 4 game series in Tampa and I'm considering to sim the rest. This dome is just depressing to look at. Does anyone play 81 games in there? Torture!

I like playing games there as a visiting team. I wouldn't be able to play 82 games there as a home team though.

I don't even play games there as a visitor! I go to Miami instead.

If I was a Rays fan, I would play 80 plus games there. Sony San Diego does a much better job at making the Trop aesthetically pleasing than the real Trop. I also feel the same way about the work Sony put into the A's Coliseum. I hope when they leave Oakland, we will be lucky enough to have Sony keep it in as a classic stadium.

Yeah, for some reason I always enjoy playing games in Oakland . It must be the lighting, but yeah, I like it.

Obviously if pressing X works for you, nothing wrong with that. I didn't think I'd like using the stick at first, but it feels pretty natural now. I'm using the one where I just have to push up and not pull back first.

Just blew a 6-run lead in the 8th. I think think the CPU-can’t-score crowd and the CPU-comeback-code crowd should get together and go bowling.
                            Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

For me this has been the tale of two separate games.
The game played great at release on QC. Then when they released the patch that had a gameplay change everything went bad. Strikeouts soared and AI run production dropped. I screwed around with the sliders but never could fix it. Then I changed from QC to playing every pitch and the game has been great ever since. 🤷🏼*♂️
