Do you only play The Show? If so then Core is all you need. But if you play other games, then I’d keep ultimate.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Coming to Current Gen Consoles and Switch, No PC or Game Pass
And I love Boog. He exemplifies baseball and it ooozes from him. MLB 22 was a rough start and rightfully so...it was year 1.
23 was greatly improved and 24.....well even better.
What I also love is the moments of silence they added to 24.....it really let's the game breath. Baseball is not a frentic pace (as much as Manfraud wants to make it be) so the flow of this new team to me.....feels authentic.
My hope is they really focused on the name audio data base because it's criminal the names that are missing. Too many legendary names and honestly even common names are missing since the move to the new booth. So going into year 4 I hope they really focused on rebuilding that robust name library we previously had.
Something else that got my attention on this latest blog:
"and the return of Feature Premieres from the development team at San Diego Studio"
I am very happy to hear this. I assume we will get Twitch stream feature Premiers again which were always fun to talk about and chat about.
I hope gameplay is just enhanced upon from 24 because it was/is fantastic on 24.
I am all about the more "customization" options and tools being added for us old diehard classic roster junkies so we can recreate our own "Era" mode to an even higher level of authenticity.
If anything I am very excited for the first time in a very long time for a new Show release.
I am absolutely taking the day off for early access. Already marked that off.
I am also going to have a return of "What Does Baseball Mean to You"
I did this for several years leading up to The Show's release where I gave one person a free copy of a standard disc version of the game (now it will be either the X or PS5 depending on who I select).
So look out for that thread soon.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 01-29-2025, 11:30 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: MLB The Show 25 First Details Revealed
First, you need to decide if you want a model that can play discs or not. If you don't plan on buying phiscal games or watching Blurays, you can save a little money getting the Digital version.
Next, would be choosing between a standard PS5 or Pro model, which is roughly a $200 difference. If you are getting a PS5 strictly for MLB, it probably isn't worth buying the Pro. It might look and run a little bit better but it likely won't be a significant improvement, and if you are coming from a PS4 the jump to a PS5 alone would probably be a big enough improvement (if you haven't gotten a PS5 yet I imagine you don't care about having the latest and greatest console on the market).
You might be able to save some money getting used or refurbished, and a store like GameStop might offer some kind of warranty for a used/refurbished console, but that's on you to decide if you are ok with saving some money by purchasing a used (a quick look on GameStop shows used PS5s going for under $400).
Now here's where things get a little tricky and confusing, especially if you are considered buying used. There are the original models which are a little bigger in size, but still come in a Digital only version and a Disc drive version. There are also the newer "Slim" models. The biggest different with the Slim models, other than being a little smaller, is that if you by the Digital only version ($450 new) you can always buy a disc drive to install later ($80 separately). Or, you can get this version with the Disc drive already installed, which sells for $500.
Hope this helps!Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Coming to Current Gen Consoles and Switch, No PC or Game Pass
Looking forward to seeing if franchise mode has finally received some notable upgrades. A lack of year to year saves once again is pretty disappointing, but if they've actually improved franchise mode, they may be able to reel me back in. The series has always played great on the field, but franchise has been lackluster for some time now and is THE reason that despite it being "free" for me on GamePass the last 3 years that I've put maybe 3-4 hours into the series total in that span.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

I doubt we will see y2y saves. BUT there are a lot of other things I prefer they fix, bullpen logic, better trade and off-season signings logic. Things like that to me are criticalMets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Re: MLB The Show 25 Coming to Current Gen Consoles and Switch, No PC or Game Pass
The current gen (excluding the switch) is intriguing.
I will give SDS the chance to show me what they have done to get my purchase. Like this time last year, I am neutral on the game to start.
Now, if I see 125 man rosters, then it will be a lock. Other than that, I need to see what they improve upon before I make the purchase. I stopped pre ordering a few years ago and have bought a physical copy the day of release if I feel it is earned.Funkycorm

Tired of buying a new game and throwing away my franchise to see whether they had addressed multiple major issues and discover they have instead focused goofy ideas. I'll watch the franchise video but they better get some things fixed or I'll keep 23.≡Comment

We'll see. I am not holding my breath, but they have a chance to get me back on board again if their priorities finally align with mine again after all these years.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: MLB The Show 25 Coming to Current Gen Consoles and Switch, No PC or Game Pass
I'm hoping that with MLB going back to the teams wearing their own uniforms in the ASG that moving to current-gen only will allow SDS to make this happen in the game. Fingers crossed....MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
NBA: Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic
NCAA: Penn State Nittany Lions, Boston College EaglesComment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Coming to Current Gen Consoles and Switch, No PC or Game Pass
Fixing those areas of the game would be huge for me. Unfortunately, given the recent history of this series, I'm not holding my breath that even one of these issues actually gets fixed. Maybe slightly tuned for the better, but not actually fixed.
We'll see. I am not holding my breath, but they have a chance to get me back on board again if their priorities finally align with mine again after all these years.
I'm playing 23 still and that aspect of the game is broken but I'm not going to throw away my franchise and start over only to discover the same problem still exists. Then in a year buy mlbts26 to see whether the fixed it.
I don't need anything new. Fix the current game. When everything has been fixed then add something new. Unfortunately community day has been both good and bad. We used to have a mange mode fan on this forum who attended community day and got a lot of things fixed. Unfortunately some really bad ideas have also been implemented over the years while major problems still persist.≡Comment
