In MLB25 FAQs it says no Y2Y. I just hope we’ll be able to load a previous roster, or at least load saved players from one year to the other. Imagine how fast those incredible rosters we have in ‘24 would show up this year.

Roster makers deserve some love this year.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Coming to Current Gen Consoles and Switch, No PC or Game Pass

MLB The Show sits in a unique gaming spot for me. It is one of my most played games; however, I haven't purchased it upon release since MLB21. MLB22, 23 and 24 I played a month on gamepass and then waited for end of season (or in MLB 24 for it to be a free PSN game).

Nothing wrong with any of the games. I think they mostly keep improving (though Quick Counts was messed up starting in MLB23). They did add some things like the Negro League material, Jeter stuff, made some changes to draft, etc.). None of those things moved the needle for me and how I play. I like MLB24 but I can honestly go back to MLB20, 21 , 22 , or 23 and have an equally good experience.

I'm hoping for some big sell point to make me want to buy this game on release again. I need something like an NBA Eras mode, franchise customization, new incredible graphics (though I'm not down on MLB The Show graphically as some are), etc. Something that really screams "new innovative item that you need to have and playing the old MLB The Shows would never be the same." This is what I'm hoping for in the next few weeks. If not, I will happily enjoy playing the old versions and maybe I'll pick up MLB 25 in the bargain bin later this year.

Maybe they are just a victim of their own success for me. Game is always solid. It is just that to me amd the modes play, the game has been 90% the same year to year. That being said, I eagerly awaiting news on the upcoming version on hopes there is something to sell me on buying MLB25 on day 1.

Confused by everyone everywhere saying current gen only when it is coming out on the Switch. The Switch is weaker hardware than the PS4 or Xbone, so the game dev will still be held back just the same.

I think what Sony means to say, each systems current gen console. Each systems last gen is no longer supported.

Yeah, I get that Switch is current gen too, but I assume the reason you would be excited by "current gen only" is because that would mean the end of the game development being held back by older tech. But that's not the case if they are still making it for the Switch.

Switch version could just keep copy and paste of 24… And then updated rosters.

Guess we’ll find out in Feb.

Honestly that's what I'm thinking the Switch version is going to be. More of a roster update than anything. I personally don't think the Switch is going to hold back the PS5 & Series X/S versions of the game.

So really, the best thing about moving away from last gen PlayStation and XBox is it freed up a ton of time this small developers team has available. I think their most precious asset is their time.

If so, then since there is crossplay, the PS5/Xbox Series versions won't be any step forward either.

This might just be me hoping for a true current gen overhaul, but do we know for sure that the Switch version will actually run natively on the Switch this year? Switch has some games available that the hardware can’t run, so the games are cloud streamed to the console. I would think that because of latency, they wouldn’t do that for the Switch, but that could be a way to still have a Switch release and have current gen improvements for all consoles.

No game pass is a big big mistake a lot of the show players played it because it was convenient on game pass I truly don’t know if it has the same demand for those players to actually buy it!! mLB is still relatively not the most popular league and it’s not appealing enough to draw in those on the fence gamers!! Don’t get it if it wasn’t broke why fix it!!

We hear all the time that these companies have telemetry on what is being played and what is not. They do cost-benefit analysis on everything in a similar fashion that impacts revenue. I am sure they crunched the numbers and were satisfied with the outcome.
