Re: Showdown Thread
Yeah so here's basically all I do:
Wait for the pitcher to come set. Once they come set completely I hold R2. Then tap L1 to take 2 steps. If you take more than 2 they automatically step off. Once I take the extra steps I hit left stick to the right + L2 to trigger the steal. This is the "normal" steal input. Even with runners on elsewhere it should only send the runner on first.
I've only been picked off once doing this and it was immediately after trying to take 3 steps. They threw over the next chance and I got picked but it was also with a terrible runner.
I have been stealing with runners as slow as 65 speed. That's against decent catchers too. Anything 75+ from what I've seen is virtually guaranteed by 4 steps or more.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
I believe the amount of ridiculous defensive plays has been turned up to 11 in the new showdowns. Lol
Twice in the first mini boss battle against Mariano Rivera made 2 behind the back snags on bullets up the middle. It was quite impressive actually. Lol.Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur

Re: Showdown Thread
I actually think this is a thing for MLBTS20 in all modes, compared to 19. I've noticed the pitchers have become an impenetrable wall. I rarely get a groundball hit up the middle this year. The pitcher collects those like a magnet this year, no matter the velo.Comment

I quit early on even leading off 1st or 2nd this year, and I never attempt a steal. I was getting picked off most every time I tried early on, so I quit even taking a lead.
I'm not sure I fully understand your method, so I need to practice it in another mode before I try it in Showdown.Comment

Whoa! This could be a game changer for me in Showdown. I hit into a LOT of DPs and it's a killer!

Also agree with everyone who said AL feels more difficult. To me, pitch speeds seem faster in AL vs NL and I can't explain why. I always have trouble adjusting down to Veteran but in this run of the AL I've been late multiple times. Pitch speeds overall just seem different than what I would expect and definitely seem different than the NL. It's the first time in the new Showdowns I've failed multiple moments leading into the final battle.
I'm still going in with 9 runs but it definitely felt more difficult. Not a bad thing or anything since overall these are easier and more enjoyable than the first batch but noticeable.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
I don't really struggle vs a particular handedness but after saying earlier that the AL felt like faster pitch speeds, for whatever reason Brady Singer felt SLOW AS ****. I was so far out in front of that dude it was pissing me off. His sinker felt like a changeup with crazy drop to it and even when he'd run a 94 mph heater I was so far in front. This is the crazy inconsistency in timing that bothers me. I just don't see how it makes sense for it to be this whacky. Maybe it was a way for them to bake in more of a skill gap but it just doesn't feel right. Idk. So tip to anyone facing Singer: stay back an extra tick.
My last draft was weird. Maybe the AL is just loaded on OF but I feel like every viable pick I had was an OF. I didn't really have too many moments where it prevented me from just stacking offense but I definitely had a couple where I had to keep a ****ty bench player in order to have them play the field.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

The next one I did I faced Snell as the first mini boss. Scored 1 run in 12 outs. Lol He's just one of those guys I don't see well at all.Last edited by doubledeuceR6; 04-27-2020, 07:54 PM.Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur

Re: Showdown Thread
Oh for sure. Even on Kopech and Pearson I was early. I beat pitches to the spot and then I'm just so far in front. On those guys I can adjust quicker because it's a couple ticks slower than HoF and Legend and I can pump it back quicker. On dude's like Singer I just struggle to slow my bat down for some reason and then press. I don't even feel like I had trouble picking the ball up with his hurky jerky delivery, either. I just couldn't time him until a bit into the run.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
Holding R2 just keeps them from pitching. You wait for them to come completely set before holding R2 so they don't throw over. I guess in a sense it locks them into the animation to go to the plate. You just take 2 steps to get the best lead possible and then steal. Piece of cake.Comment
