Finished up the Central Team Affinity conquest. I need 3000 more XP for 97 Tommy Edman, who is my first choice.

I hope after the influx of players on release day we might start to see live series diamond prices come down. Goldschmidt and Arenado would cost me about 140K of stubs and I am not close to that yet.

Speaking of struggling with Moments, I've been working through the WBC Moments. For some reason, I'm really struggling with the Tim Kennelly 4 total base one. I've tried it many times, and end up quitting and moving on to the others. HIs card stats look good enough, must be me.

I'm finding it's harder to hit for power in this game so far, compared to MLB22.

Finished off the US Conquest map last night - had a ball doing that.

Going to play a bit on the TA Conquest maps while I get a few more targeted cards I want for a theme team concept I am working on.

I'm actually a bit excited to dig into Mini Seasons as well....

Just got walked off by the Twins on the USA map. Had some really good swings that went for outs but just didn't hit as well as normal.

So far, even offline the hitting feels so much better. So much more consistent and so much smoother.

I don't care if I lineout or even lose a game as long as the outcomes make sense.

Still incredibly early and only time will tell if they patch things or what but - the game feels amazing.

I’m really enjoying how the game feels this year. Hitting feels good, I love the fielding changes as well. I love not being able to stash a bat in the field without consequences. I’ve been burned multiple times by Soto not being able to reach a ball in the field, but have been dealing with it because his bat is so strong.

I am not sure why but I’ve also been throwing to bases for no reason after an out, which usually leads me to throwing it into outfield. So a learning curve on throwing meter but man it feels good to mail a runner on a plate with a perfect throw.

But overall just having fun playing, and think it feels great. I’m trying to take things slower this year. I started the storylines, but am planning on doing one a day. I’ve finished the WBC moments and conquest, but I’ll work in a couple players into my lineup instead of having a lineup of all players. And I’m not lowering difficulty to just grind against CPU on rookie.

I’ll keep an eye on anything time specific, but I’m trying to play this year with a team I want to play without worrying about needing to build a God squad. I hope that with captains it’s more possible than ever to do your own thing and not be greatly unmatched. Not that I play online too much, other than BR.

Unfortunately have plans today, but thing I’m going to start on conquest maps for affinity tonight. I am really looking forward to mini seasons though, so we’ll see how early I get home. I have just been building stubs so far but do want to start looking at live series collection as a Yankee fan I want Jeter as my shortstop, despite his faults.

              dear god

I just realized I've been playing on 60 hz. My monitor supports 1440p at 120hz and I've been playing on 60hz.

I just got it set correctly for max settings.

This is either going to be really good or really bad haha

Creating theme teams is going to be addictive as heck. Currently just toying around with an "Ohio" team using the Guardians Live Series offense (with Doby as Captain) with the Reds pitching (with Dibble as Captain). A Reds live series team with 2 golds (both 80) is transformed with Dibble's Tier 3 into a team with 6 Diamond level pitchers (Dibble makes 7) with Greene, Lodolo, and Diaz all over 90. The Guardians offense with Doby's Tier 3 isn't bad either....but I think I may toy with a couple of other possible options

While I can appreciate why folks are enjoying the WBC content and those monster cards; exploring various theme team combos is really giving me a lot of joy.

This is the stuff I'm stoked to see across the community. I do personally tend to go attributes>personal affinity with my building so I don't know how much I'll experiment with super builds. But I'm DYING to see what people build and how the teams look, online and offline. There's going to be so much creativity as long as they keep pumping out new and unique Captain cards.

And people can feasibly play online and be reasonably competitive even using their favorite team's live series cards.

Just so much amazing stuff in the game. It's day 3 of early access - I can't wait to see what SDS throughout the year.

The one downside right now is that team overalls don't update to reflect the boosts in the menu screens - so it's really hard to give someone a picture (literal and figuratively) of how some of these teams really look.

One thing I give SDS credit for....the Team Captains for the live series collections that come from weaker Live Series teams have generally nicer boosts. If one of those teams happens to break-out this year, look out. And these are all Core cards too...so, you could conceivably run with them all year.

Some of these Set 1 Captains are pretty cool too. And I THINK one could create a pretty nasty offense with an All Star series theme team with Harper as the Captain.

Cbrev did a video on negro league team build and it is pretty crazy how stacked those Pitchers are when you have the team captain going

Pretty sure satchel has like 115 h/9 or something crazy with outlier... And the catcher with a million positions I think has like 120 power both sides with diamond defense and over 80 speed

Dihigo is awesome. With the advent of the DD, it opens up the value of utility players that I've always dreamt about. He can literally play every position including pitcher. He will always have gold fielding no matter where he plays. He won't be diamond because his primary is SP but still, gold fielding everywhere is plenty good. He also has 83 Speed and 85 Reaction at secondaries. I have him at SS right now because of the crazy boosts and he's just insane.

I have Jackie on the bench as a pinch runner right now. I can run Jackie for my catchers and then just swap him with Dihigo. So much versatility and so much fun.

I have trouble locating with Satchel, honestly. His stuff is insane but even on consistent perfect releases he struggles to hit corners. Early game attributes are off the charts. I'm sure he plays much better online but offline he kinda isn't doing the best for me right now. Plus the windup is slower so he's not my go-to in Conquest. I'm using Donaldson a lot right now since he has a quicker windup and his stuff is really good, too.

Also loving that Postseason Glavine in CQ. Still lowkey hilarious that I'm blowing batters away with Glavine's 97 MPH fastball haha.

About halfway through the US map. Taking a break to do some dishes then get some food for my fantasy draft at 2. Then hopping right back in.

I lost again - this time to the Royals. Having to replay is frustrating, but I can't complain about the gameplay. It's buttery smooth and my PCI placement is already getting stagnant because of the non-stop play. I LOVE the audio this year. I typically don't even wear my headphones - I just have them off to the side and can still hear through my headphones but don't care.

My headset is glued to my giant head so far this year. The bat and glove sounds are insane. Audio just sounds incredibly balanced across the board.

The biggest thing for me is the outfield play. The field does not play small anymore. You actually can hit balls over the head, in gaps and bloopers. It's a massive change IMHO. Couple that with the new throwing meter and it just feels great.

And the batting also just feels right. I get frustrated that I miss a pitch because I missed it and not because the game feels random. Piazza absolutely is raking for me so far and It has a lot to do with being able to hit gaps. I really hope they don't tweak it too much.

Decided to open a second 50 bundle just to cover some ground on the lower rated cards for collections.

No diamonds. Pulled a gold in the Chase pack.

                            Packs are atrocious so far.

I got trout from the rare wbc pack so I won't complain too much but other than that I've only pulled Riley, zero other diamonds.

I wanted that Trout so bad. Wasn't to be ...

I'm already 165K XP into the main program so I'll have another chance. I've got all but 1 showdown complete and all the conquests minus US which I'm using to attain Affinity progress. With the loaded squad, I think I'm going either Ranked or Event since BR would equalize my roster advantage. I've never been able to juggle the temptation of all 3, but with more time maybe this will be the year.

Can't wait to see what the market does Tuesday. I'm cautiously optimistic I can complete the Live series quicker this year because (a) my pack luck is already better and (b) you would think that 4 versions of Ohtani means his Live series card doesn't have to be so inflated. I'm sure I'll be as accurate as all my stock picks in real life ...
