Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

Knocked out the WBC map this morning and started grinding the WBC missions. Got all the 95 overall cards. Thinking about taking that team across the Team Affinity maps to knock out the rest of that program. Obviously have the Showdown to play as well.

Probably about ready to jump online. I've grinded offline non-stop and got a good start on collections and the offline content. The event might help me boost through the WBC program quicker and then I can focus elsewhere.

I love the new season approach as I feel like I have time to actually get into Ranked when I want versus feeling pressured to play. I don't see a program end on BR so I don't know if I missed it or what. If that ends on 5/12 as well, then they've removed one of the biggest barriers for me which is the time sensitive nature. I play the game all the time and still often feel like I won't be able to get stuff done.

Opening up DD the way they have is just absolutely phenomenal.

Way further behind on the NL - though I bought Machado to lock-in the Padres now before that guy (who I fully expect will quickly become a gatekeeper) is reinstated.
Should play the lottery with that luck

Got to 88 points in br after a 9-1 run... Went 5-0 today I think

Oddly enough first few days of events and br I felt like I was actually hitting better and pitching bad. Today I feel like I'm not hitting that great (hands are literally cold). And Stanton is the worst hitter ever. Polanco is still the best. My pitching has gotten better but still leaving meatballs. I know you're not supposed to dot with silvers and golds but pinpoint is either harder this year or not as forgiving maybe, not sure but it's different.

My 9-1 team I also think is prob the worst team I drafted so far.

I think the pitching thing has to be intentional after days worth of data. I haven't used any super high BB/9 guys yet and I wonder if this is how they are differentiating this year. It would make sense since pitchers often function the same. Their stuff will be different to a degree but it's all just attributes.

If the higher BB/9 cards have greater success dotting to the ball marker placement, it makes the current happenings make a lot of sense.

Then again, maybe it's just a deliberate move and every pitcher will function the same way with pitches favoring the outer part of the PAR. They aren't going to completely make the game impossible for casual players so it might be their compromise in the skill gap conversation.

Try to paint too much and the ball just zooms out of the zone or down the middle. Not great but I can see it. I'm hoping it's more attribute related and improves with better cards but we'll see.

I’m really enjoying the changes as well, and the new pacing. Im really loving the theme team concept. At least initially I’ve settled into a Yankees theme team, and like being able to use players you wouldn’t have before. Finished up the Yankees live series to get Mo, with Judge the hitting captain. With Mickey Mantle the AL East reward I went ahead and finished the rest of the division. In some ways last year I would do conquest maps with Yankees team, but I feel comfortable enough to take on online into ranked with the new program structure.

I’m not sure what to focus on next. I’m debating on whether to sell Ohtani or not, but leaning towards keeping him. I could make a big dent in LS collection, but I’m not in a rush to do that. So leaning towards keeping him for now at least. I usually have a more focused plan on LS collection, but just jumping around a little.

I still have WBC missions, the central, west, and nation conquest, along with finishing the storylines, team affinity, BR, and ranked. I’m loving the amount of content and being able to work through it at my pace.

Yeah it's not a problem with 99 Pedro or the 99 rare round Japanese guy

But I played a ton of moon shot event recently in 22 and using bronze guys I was dotting pretty consistent

That axford card... He's a diamond in br but I was constantly throwing meatballs with him, he's a 79 bb/9... Roki over 100.

Its just a comparison to 22 tho. Prob this year if your sub 80 bb/9 you should be throwing meaty stuff more regular I suppose. Hope I run into the same pitches.

I've also noticed a good bit of people are really struggling with the diving plays and throws which is cool that not every play is so routine

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

Did indeed start the West Affinity map with the WBC squad to grind those missions. Have a dozen of the PXP done so far so should have at least all the base knocked out before I finish this map.

Still having pretty terrible pack luck (at least compared to prior years) but did end up pulling Trea Turner. Tempted to sell since his value is through the roof right now for his overall but since I'm prioritizing the NL, gonna get greedy and just keep him to protect against him possibly going off early and ending up 90+.

Decided to overpay a bit and got Strider and and Riley to complete the Braves. Made the first significant changes to my lineup. Have added enough cards that I felt ready to remove some of the NLB legends and lost the huge buff from Buck. Still have Buck in LF and Dihigo at SS but moved Ronnie to DH, added Kondoh to CF, moved Riley to 1B and started Arenado at 3B with WBC Moncada at 2B and Bench at catcher. Moved Piazza to bench because his captain ability just isn't worth the tradeoff since Buck is still boosting Satchel's BB/9 and H/9. WBC Luis Robert, 2nd Half Lowe and live series Trea round out the bench.

Captain Alcantara, Captain Peavy, Postseason Glavine, Satchel and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are in the rotation with mostly live series bullpen arms with Eckersley, Giles and Captain Pressly and WBC Doval. Have Pressly's ability enabled but not much of a game changer.

I can't Google the name but I've been settling on a new minor league stadium with a 3 initial name.

Has a good batters eye and elevation I think is 1008. If you square it up it'll be a hr but they're not late swing off pci bomb fest like high elevation stadium. Had a tall left field wall and I think a shallower right field wall.... But I've finished events and close to done with br and so far I'm liking how that plays best so far

Finished up the West affinity map and started the Central and completed all the WBC missions. Pulled base in the Around the World pack and took Lopez and slotted him in the rotation for now.

Did end up pulling Realmuto which gave me most of the Phillies' diamonds so I bought the rest and finished that collection. Also finished the Marlins and Nationals and bought everything but the diamonds for the Mets. Slowly just peeling away the lower end collections without overpaying. I'm avoiding the Reds for now since I'm not interested in paying like 600s+ for bronze cards. Dibble is almost certainly nasty but I'll wait.

Hopped in and got my first event game out of the way. Was nervous that the game would feel worse than the tech test since there's way more server load but the game was still pretty smooth.

Definitely going to be an ongoing adjustment since I have the game running at 120hz now. That combined with the more stable framerate and I can definitely see where my timing will be affected with the hesitation that got programmed in over the years. But game felt good for sure.

Hit a leadoff no-doubter with the Charisma Acuna and his no-doubt animation is so sick.

I'm always so jealous of everyone else pulling high diamond players in their packs. In all the years of DD I have pulled a Trout card once and have never pulled any of the high diamond pitchers. I just assume I'm a very unlucky human being when it comes to this stuff as I also never win anything at a casino.

I got two chase packs so far, both were an 80 overall gold player.

I've had pretty bad packs so far, too. I had decent luck last year so I shouldn't complain I guess as I packed multiple 90+ in the first 2 months. But it's been a rough go of it so far.

I mean 2 50 bundles with 0 diamonds was hardcry worthy haha. I typically buy a couple of the headliners as they release just as a lottery ticket and bought one so far because that Edmonds looks nasty.

I've had good luck this year, I had rotten luck last year...great luck the year before...so...who the heck knows?

I've also committed to not purchase ANY of the premium packs this year....and to me, it makes even more sense this year as the non-Core players do have a finite usage rate in modes that matter. Not judging anyone who does partake in them, I'd just rather spend my stubs on base packs and selected guys I might want from the auction house. I know myself well...once I open that first 7500 stub Duos pack, I will buy 4 more...so holding the line there.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Ive only opened my preorder packs and the free ones ive gotten so far from the conguest and things and ive only pulled 2 diamonds Trea Turner and Machado , so i finished the Padres and i really want to finish the Cardinals but Goldy and Arenado are too high right now so hoping to pull them outta the packs im getting in the USA map . I'm about half done 40% done i have all the west teams and i think 1 central team beat so far , just haven't had alot of time to play lately but hopefully that changes because i am loving this game .

I sold off every thing I could yesterday to afford the new Edmonds card. Now they are releasing a 99 Jordan Walker tomorrow. I wasn’t planning on spending any money this year, but I’ll probably be buying some stubs tomorrow.
