Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 24 Edition)

Had the day off so decided to grind as much as possible since double xp was on until 3.

Somehow I actually hit the 40k cap so I got to the 91 overall pack. Was just working on the new TA conquest maps with my Castillo/Swanson hybrid to do it.

This team is really fun and better than I thought it would be.

2B Awards Ozzie Albies (Wild Card)
    CF Mike Trout
    3B 91 Overall Chipper Jones
    LF Babe Ruth
    RF Ronald Acuna Jr
    DH Live Series Shohei Ohtani
    SS Dansby Swanson (Braves Captain)
    1B Live Series Matt Olson
    C Live Series Sean Murphy

    Live Series Michael Harris
    LS Marcell Ozuna
    LS Travis D'Arnaud
    LS Forrest Wall

    Cornerstone Luis Castillo (LS Captain)
    Hyper Pedro Martinez
    LS Shohei Ohtani
    LS Spencer Strider
    LS Chris Sale

Bullpen is a mix of LS and Braves that I can't remember. But core of the team is fun and sticking to this kind of build is actually a blast. Since I have zero interest in the packs they're releasing, it frees my Stubs up to pick up any interesting players I want. I have LS done so really it'll depend on what Braves cards get released which will create roster fluctuation. I want to try and maintain a tier 3 boost so it'll be challenging.

Swanson/Castillo hybrid gives +30 contact right and +20 BB/9 to LS Braves. LS Chris Sale ends up better than the Hyper series that was released last season. Plus he ends up with like 96 H/9 BEFORE any Inside Edge boost

This team needs a Javy Lopez or Brian McCann and it would be so damn dope

I don't think they factored in double xp this morning.

I played 2 ranked games and good hit of event to get to 25 wins

Then tonight I play like 5 mins of mini seasons and hit cap right away lol

Didn't Double XP end yesterday at 3pm est? If you reset your cap after that it would have been easy to max out with the cap lowered back to the 15k

Idk when it resets but I played from like 730am eat to 1100am est Monday.

Then I played one inning of mini seasons in the first of the cup finals so probably 830pm and it gave me the xp cap limit notice

So it prob reboots at midnight west coast time

Got Architects and London Series done. London took a while to grind offline but they put a value on it of 40,000 Stubs so if you're willing to grind for it then it's no different than some of the offline grinds we've had in the past.

Of course since it's a No Sell pack I pulled rare so took Harper. Probably won't be using him anytime soon as I love the Castillo/Braves hybrid. That Harper looks nasty fun on a Devers build, though.

Also, replaced Live Series Acuna with the Rookie version. They have essentially the same Contact attributes but the Rookie has a bit more Power. Also has higher Speed and Defense as well as Clutch. I had a lot of fun with that program and love what it represents. Having a fun decision on LS vs flashback was fun too.

I’m having some insane pack luck this year, I just pulled Ohtani. Selling him put me over a million stubs, this is easily the earliest in the year I’ve hit that threshold. I’m about 10k xp away from the 2nd Griffey/Chipper pack. If I play some BR later, I’ll definitely get to that tonight, I’m only a couple of BR points away from the 8k xp chunk in the program.

After grinding last weekend, I got my stub count up to 180K after completing Live, and got it over 250K after selling my Event spoils.

Tired of playing, I started dabbling in the market with the splits so favorable. Just by buying and selling the same 4-5 cards from last season, I'm now approaching 500K! Too bad there's nothing I want to buy!!

I played a couple event games and some RS on HOF. The AS level games was a small sample size of 2 three inning games, but the encouraging thing is that in those games there was no contact made on pitches outside of the strike zone that had very early or very late swings. If that is how it will play, that will be amazing. The thing that makes me the most angry in this game is having 2 strikes on someone who constantly swings at pitches out of the zone and have them make contact on very early swings on change ups a foot off the ground. On the HOF games, I did notice a couple of instances of contact being made on bad swings, but nothing horrible, definitely no 8-9 pitch ABs with an 0-2 count.

I have to say, I think SDS did really well constructing the London and Architect programs.

                      - Goals that can be completed via cards from S1
                      - Cards in the program that help you meet goals to obtain other cards (architect)
                      - synergy between cards for goals between programs (Rollins/Lindor/Turner as Mets/Phillies AND SS to get hits, as an example)

The grind for goals is just enough to need more than one game offline vs CPU, but not excessive to the point of being frustrating.

Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come.

Finished the BR program a couple of days ago. Went fairly quick with most runs ending around 5 or 4 wins, so was easy to get the pxp missions done fast. I picked Vinny. I’ll try him out but I don’t love him so far. BR rewards have been pretty lackluster this year.

I completed Live Series late in season 1 and have had generally really good luck with pulls so I’m sitting at 600k stubs without any effort. Nothing to spend it on and no motivation to try and invest it or flip. I’m starting up the Cubs theme team again. That Chapman has demolished people in the event with the Cubs boost. I’ve yet to allow a run with him. Excited to pick up a couple more cards for the squad today in Edwards for the bullpen and Tauchman. Tauchman being an 86 is kinda lame but I need to see what he looks like boosted. I loved his card when it was supercharged so he might get some run. I think I might be ready for ranked once the extra missions are released.

I don’t know, just a really weird year. Having fun playing, but have hit the point where I’m only playing what I want and not grinding stuff to grind. I think I’m losing interest faster than ever but I can’t complain too much. I don’t think sets/seasons works for these kinds of game modes.

Exactly at the same point. Nearly done with BR, nearly at 600K, and I feel the SAME exact way.

I think the notion of starting over after I got a couple ABs with Brett, Rollins, Mays, etc. is forcing me to detest all the 89-91s. And honestly, they're suck cards. I grinded my tail off just to put those guys on the bench, and they want me to get excited over a Turner Chase card when the Turner Live boost is better. They're just not thinking things through. We also have the benefit of perspective ... if you spent 6-figures on a 92 last season, you did it because you didn't have Live series or didn't have the foresight that WAY better cards were coming. So ... we grind for very little and sit on our stubs.

By the time we get to Season 3, the idea of starting over is going to be so repulsive that I don't think I'll be able to get over it. Even starting at 95's instead of 89 would show that they have a few brain cells not attached to profiteering.

im at like 450k stubs, finished events and programs but not started BR

started a mini season but its so boring and slow, i've been trying to prioritize XP over anything...haven't done TA conquests but need to do those too i guess. I actually kind've hate conquest and mini seasons now after 3 or 4 years of these 3 inning CPU games. I've hardly done any conquest this year and didn't even start nations map

I just wanna get jeter and chipper this season and actually be able to use them

I don't really have good enough pitching where I want to go into ranked for a while. I'm 20-0 so wanna protect my record and now roll in there with forest whitley for TA progress

lol, none of this **** is fun idk why i play this game. This is the only game I own, I thought about getting NHL but ehh, I prob wouldn't play it

Man, that finally hit me towards the end of season 1. Tried to get into season 2 just because even though I said I wouldn't, didn't even make it through a mini conquest map.

I get my MLB fix with Cycloniacs True Sim Rosters, got my 30 team control Franchise set up and been having a blast.

I've also played 5 or so Online Rated Games, mix of all star and hall of fame. Had a blast in those as well.

I hope DD finds some magic next year with some new modes along with going back to let us use cards we earned year round.

My usual DD grind got replaced with going back to Diablo 4 and grinding out Hillsides and Nightmare Dungeons with my buddies. All because of Ramone! LOL

With that said I still enjoy reading what everyone in here is doing and how their grinding is going etc.

Finished ALE for TA, about 75% done with the NLE. The dropoff in quality of contact from 99-rated cards to 89-rated cards is really demoralizing while hitting. Pitching is fine, but hitting just keeps making me angry. I find myself periodically going back to the Rockies on Rookie at Costco HQ just to feel like I’m getting rewarded for quality timing again…

Grinding my way through conquest maps for most of today, then on vacation again for a week and won’t be able to play. Might spend some stubs on low diamond cards to use for exchanges to get through TA quicker, but I’m not sure.

I think I can do this for S2, but not sure I have three rounds of this grind left in me by the time S3 comes out.
