I don't know what it is, but there's a weird look to when people put the ball in play. It's like... there's a split-second delay, and it for some reason feels like the ball bounces (every time) before it goes in the air, or whatever it does. Is there some way to fix that?

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist

I posted this awhile back, so I will put in the Wishlist thread.

Some issues I would like to see addressed:

        Batting:

        - The check swing feature needs to be more responsive! It is difficult to use and there seems to be no consistency when you do check if it is called a swing or not.

        - There needs to be more foul ball battles similar to Mvp. You never foul tip anything. You are either ripping the ball to the left or right of you and sometimes behind.

        - On a called third strike it would be nice if they showed where the ball was in the strike zone.

        Fielding:

        - Have the the ability for the pitcher to field some ground balls. There seems like there is a million animations of the pitcher getting out of the way of the ball instead of fielding it.

        - There seems to be some ball suction on making plays in the field. That needs to be tightened up!

        - A little wind would be nice that actually affected the ball.

        - I would like a little more control of the fielders similar to Mvp. The animation that the players go through when they field a ball makes things seem too mechanical.

        - The right stick control needs to have more impact in the fielding controls and if they are, there is no need to have seperate button controls for jumping and diving. It just confuses things!

        - The throwing arms of the fielders needs to be backed down. Even with the slider things were not great.

        - Too much diving by the second baseman and the shortstop. They also play way too deep.

        Running:

-Once you get used of the controls the running control is not that bad.

-There definately needs to be user controlled slides!

        - The runner needs to round first base on a clean single and not run down the right field line.

        Pitching:

        - I love the pitching meter that they used this year and it is probably one of my favorite parts of the game. Great job!!

-It would be nice if you could see the pitch history of each batter you face similar to Mvp. It helps a lot when you can look at your successes and failures.

        Sliders:

-It was nice that we had some but I think we need more.

        Some to consider:

Arm strength for infielders and outfielders broken down seperately.

        Outfielder and infielder range

Running speed and aggressiveness for non user controlled baserunners.

        Foul ball frequency

        Variable umpire

        Steal aggressiveness

Pitch speed broken down by pitch type as opposed to a general speed adjustment.

I am sure there are more to add!

        Rosters:

-We definately need some more freedom with this. This portion of the game I found most fustrating.

Thats all I have for now I will add some more later.

I have been calling for this all year - better roster management. I want the ability to control all 30 teams in season mode. I want to be able to control lineups and rotations and demotions. An editor that works for batting stances and pitching motions.

          More foul balls.

          Wind.

          Less wild pitches.

The roster updates have been awesome!

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist

That's a great list, nemesis04! SCEA, look at his list as a baseline to start from & don't add any other features until you get those things accomplished as they are key items that will provide more realism & fun to the game.

I LOVED the EyeToy feature! Is there any way to further enhance that feature by editing the captured face? Like adding in features to the face like facial hair, hair style, etc.?

            Thanks,

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist

A couple more things to add:

-There needs to be another difficulty level added, three is not enough.

-Rally music should not be playing when the visiting team is up at bat. LOL!

-With regards to shagging flys in the outfield, I like the new system of having the path of the ball wander a little bit. I thought adding a strafe button would help so it would be easier to move side to side when you have to adjust to make the catch.

              - I do not like having to hit the L1 button while the ball is in the air to hit the cut off man. Have L1 just be the throw to the cut off man.

              Thats all for now.

                Some more interesting things:

-Weather: rain, overcast skies, rain delays etc.

                -Brawls and arguments

-An interesting idea would be allowing the player to argue a call on close plays with the possibility of getting the call reversed or getting the manager thrown out. which would affect player morales

-A fan favoritism system for career mode (or any mode, at that). Like, if a player is performing well, the fans respond with more noise and teams are more likely to retain those players whose contracts are ending

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist

MLB 2006 was really close to perfection, but my main gripe is that I still get too many hits to runs scored. There aren't usually over 20 hits combined for both teams unless its a fairly high scoring game. I'm seeing 20+ hits in even 5-1 games... which isn't right.

Here are some other things I'd like to see improved or added.

                  1) More sliders for everything......... pitcher ball rate, pitcher control, CPU batter swing frequency, foul ball frequency, outfielder/infielder speed, CPU catch effort, baserunner speed, etc....

                  2) More gear & accessories such as sunglasses, wrist tape, longer armbands, etc...

                  3) Weather conditions: Rain that varies from light to heavy & can start & stop during games. Cold weather effects such as the players breath smoking & maybe the chance of a light snow fall in early april or late into the season.

                  4) Better grass textures that are modeled after each stadiums real grass design & color. As well as more signs & advertisements (with fake names of course) around the stadiums.

                  5) Individual batter tendencies for each player that are editable ala MVP 2005

                  6) Fixed collision detection for certian stadiums. One being the teal monster at Dolphins stadium........ the ball goes right through it in this year's game & counts as a homerun.

                  7) Signature swing follow throughs for the top players.

                  8) The perzonalized HR celebrations should be redone & updated. Some of the stars don't have their proper & most recognized reactions, such as Manny Ramirez & Albert Pujols. Maybe you could even have multiple HR celebrations for some players.

ALL of the game developers should make this feature mandatory in the game. I think ASB 2002 or 2004 had these weather conditions. Although once you got the weather condition, it was continuous throughout the game

                    peace!

I would like to see a more realistic strike zone, like in MVP. Have the umpire vary the zone, maybe call a strike that just missed the corner etc. Also a better roster editor, with the abilty to change pitchers' pitch types and movement. Not everyones' curveball moves in an 11-5 motion. It seemed like the cpu pitcher always pitched the corners perfectly, and I K'd a lot. Just a few things that could be fixed, that make the game a must have for me.

Fix Manage Only mode and double switches. Better roster management. More foul balls and higher pitch counts. Oh yeah, and fix Manage Only mode.

Please add more classic stadiums - especially the older ones like old Comiskey Park, Polo Grounds, Ebbetts Field, Tiger Stadium, old Yankee Stadium, Shibe Park, Cleveland Municipal Stadium, Minnesota Metropolitan Stadium, Kansas City Municipal Stadium, Sportsman's Park in St. Louis, Milwaukee County Stadium, Griffith's Stadium in Washington DC, old Brave's Field in Boston, LA Colliseum etc.
It would also be nice to be able to play in these stadiums in any game mode.

I second this idea. One of the things I liked about playing ESPN's game last year was the ability to choose your stadium in season mode. It would be nice to play a season game in an old time stadium if you want rather than just exhibition games or homerun derbys.

                              1. Fix the freezing.

                              2. Add a roster editor that you can use in the main menu and in the season/franchise mode. Allow us to edit everything, including the posistion of each player.

                              3. Continue adding more excellent animations.

                              4. Polish the graphics. Update the stadiums, although they looked pretty good this year.

                              5. Add more commentary. Please don't use Rex Hudler. The announce team from last year was the best in a baseball game in years.

                              6. More stadiums.

                              7. Fix the Eye Toy feature.

I have more but it's been awhile since I have played.
