Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist
Chris,
I would love to see the ability to choose the ballpark you play in during season mode. The graphics and stadiums in this game are awesome. I get tired of playing in the same ballparks all the time and would love to see and play in the different parks. I know I could play an exhibition game in any park but it is not that same as playing a league game. It would be cool to play a season game in the Polo Grounds or one of the minor league parks you have in the game. Any chance this can be included?
Also, can wind be factored in?

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist
Chris,
If you get a chance could you answer a few of these:
Batting:
- The check swing feature needs to be more responsive! It is difficult to use and there seems to be no consistency when you do check if it is called a swing or not.
- Any check swing hits?
- On a called third strike it would be nice if they showed where the ball was in the strike zone.
Fielding:
- Have the the ability for the pitcher to field some ground balls. There seems to be a lot of animations of the pitcher getting out of the way of the ball instead of fielding it.
- There seems to be some ball suction on making plays in the field. Has this been addressed?
-Any weather that affects gameplay?
- Do we have more control over the players in the field? The animation that the players go through when they field a ball makes things seem too mechanical.
- Is the right stick going to be used for fielding controls like jumping, diving, sliding, etc.?
- Are the throwing arms of the fielders backed down?
- Too much diving by the second baseman and the shortstop. They also play way too deep.
Running:
- The runner needs to round first base on a clean single and not run down the right field line.
Pitching:
- I love the pitching meter that they used this year and it is probably one of my favorite parts of the game. Great job!!
Thanks in advance!! Also, just curious is Kolbe still involved with this game?Last edited by nemesis04; 11-14-2005, 07:50 PM.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Yes, there are more foul balls. We have added a few foul ball specific animations.
Slider addtions are still a work-in-progress.
I will talk to the graphics guys about dirty helmets.
I know the new Busch Stadium is in, I don't know about other stadium additions.
Chris
Following up on the stadium question and regarding Petco Park. I live in San Diego, follow the Padres closely, and really like Petco Park. (BTW, you guys did the best job of any game recreating this great ballpark) So as you probably know the team is considering moving in the fences in right-center field where it's 411 and WAY deep. The decision has to be made soon because Petco Park is hosting the semifinals and finals of the inaugural World Baseball Classic on March 18-20.
Were you able to add the recent modification at the start of the 05 season to widen the batter's eye and will you be able to make the newly proposed 06 modifications to bring in the fences in time for the next release?
Story is here: http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASAp...t=.jsp&c_id=sd
Thanks again.Comment

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist
Chris, any chance you guys could start doing what VC did with their 2k game this year? Release the game for the PS2 and PSP in February or so, and then re-release the game later in the summer, around August or September in time for the pennant races, maybe with some extra signature batter stuff thrown in for the rookies and other guys who are having break out seasons up to that point. You wouldn't have to add a whole lot to get me to put another $20-25 down for a game to get me through the winter months.Comment

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist
Chris, thanks alot for coming back so soon to answer some questions. Here are a few from my wish list on page 1. Any way you could comment on a couple of these, or is it still too early?
You don't have to go in-depth, just a simple yes, no or maybe answer would do.... if possible.
My questions are mainly regarding the graphics & animations. The gameplay was excellent last year except that there weren't enough gameplay sliders & I still get too many hits to runs scored in most games. But those two things have probably already been addressed.
1) Will the Weather conditions be making it in this year? For example, Rain that varies from light to heavy & can start & stop during games? Cold weather effects such as the players breath smoking & maybe the chance of a light snow fall in early april or late into the season?
2) Will there be more gear & accessories such as sunglasses, wrist tape, longer armbands, etc... ?
3) Are you going to be including Signature swing follow-throughs for the top players? It doesn't look right seeing every player drop the bat & run the exact same way after they hit the ball.
4) Have any of the perzonalized HR celebrations been redone & updated? Some of the stars didn't have their proper & most recognized reactions, such as Manny Ramirez & Albert Pujols. Maybe you could even have multiple HR celebrations for some players.
5) Will the stadiums have Better grass textures that are modeled after each stadiums real grass design & dirt color? As well as more signs & advertisements around the stadiums?Last edited by ericjwm; 11-16-2005, 06:51 AM.Comment

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist
Chris, I don't have a question for ya, I have this idea i would love to run by you.
If I could wish for something It would be this:
Imagine the year is 1957, the year the Milwaukee Braves won the World Series. I know there is no such thing as a "Time Machine" or is there?
Maybe we could go back in time with "CLASSIC FRANCHISE"
this mode could offer several years to choose from like:
1927
1946
1955
1957
If we choose the year 1957, the computer sets everything up for the 57' season. The 57' stadiums, uniforms, music, and announcers. Some of the famous announcers might not be around but their recordings could be.
Although some of the legends that are offered were not playing in 57' they would be placed on their teams anyway, and we would have the option to move them to any of the other teams they played on if we wanted to.
We could create the players that aren't offered. 989 could offer real names and sound-a-like names ( first & last names) that would be announced.
The computer would put the 57' Milwaukee Braves back in Milwaukee, and all the other teams back to their 57' locations. In 57' they had fewer teams and a shorter season this would all be taken care of by the computer.
After the computer finished setting up the year we would choose the team that we want to play with from that year.
This "CLASSIC FRANCHISE" mode could stand alone or be added to the regular
Modern Franchise as an option.
It would be fun to hear the announcer once again say:
"The Say Hey Kid" Willie Mays just made his patented "Basket Catch"
Thanks Chris, for the opportunity to kick around some ideas!
MLB 2006 just blew me away, it is the the best game ever!
I can't wait until your next ball game comes out.Last edited by Scooter3; 11-17-2005, 10:11 AM."a mean motor scooter and a bad go getter"

Yes GTheorenHobbes, Great idea!
I posted an idea for a game with "CLASSIC FRANCHISE" maybe something
along this line could be an appealing alternative. 989 could offer their "MODERN FRANCHISE" in the spring and " CLASSIC FRANCHISE" in the fall.I believe I read
that 2K Sports would release more than one MLB game per year, I'm thinking that if 989 wanted to,they could counter with this classic idea.
I believe with a few alterations to their MLB game, like adding some classic stadiums, uniforms, along with their huge list of legends they would be good to go!
Plus they would have to open up edit and create-a-player so we could fill in the rest of the legendary and old time players.
Oh and a large first and last name data base, that they would announce both first and last names.
I know I would love a game like this.Last edited by Scooter3; 11-19-2005, 01:16 PM."a mean motor scooter and a bad go getter"
