Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist

Hi Chris, thanks for being here for us!

I'm an artist and a ball player. I'm passionate about Baseball, art and video baseball games in general. The only reason I own an Xbox and PS2 is for Baseball. I love Baseball!!!

    Things I've noticed:

Proportions are off, arms are too short.

    Eye Toy:
It doesn't work to stretch the features to fit the outer shape, The features get distorted and end up looking nothing like the face you started with.

Instead make the outer shape fit the face, this way the features arn't distorted. You may have to shrink the outer shape to fit then let us adjust the overall size of the head.
In general the head is too big! so an option to adjust the size of the head would be appreciated.

Something needs to be done with the dark shadows on the side of the face, something to feather edge it. This occurs most of the time when you use a photograph.

    Legends:
989 offered tons of legends in MLB 2006, the only drawback for me was I could never get enough points to buy more than 12 of them. Please make it easier to get all the legends offered so we can place them on all their appropriate teams and play with and against them. Can you offer them right at the get-go? then I could start my Franchise with them.
I just don't like seeing them going to waste like in MLB 2006.

Many of the legends were mixed up this year, you pick Pee Wee Reese and get Red Schoendienst, anyway I offered a fix list on another post.

989 listed the following legends but didn't deliver them:
    Stan Musial,
    Whitey Ford,
    Eddie Mathews,
and a few others. I sure hope that they will be included with the next ball game!

I also have a short list of legends I would love to see in your next MLB game:
    Mark McGwire
    Hank Aaron
    Ted Kluszewski
    Sandy Koufax
    Duke Snider
    Mickey Mantle
    Joe Dimaggo
    Willie Mays
    Pete Rose
    Roger Maris

    Edit and created players:
989 please offer announced names and more faces in Edit and Create-A-Player modes!
Developers could start with a first installment of 2,000 of the most popular last names, taken from the census. Then keep adding installments of 2,000 last names with each new game. Do the same with first names then announce them both.

Or if you wanted to get really fancy you could use "Text to Speech Synthesizers" with this we could type in any name and the computer would announce that name. Think about it, this would personalize the game like never before.

Use real faces for edit, created players and legendary players why not scan 300 to 500 real people for Edit and Create-A-Player and if some of them looked like Babe Ruth or Rogers Hornsby all the better!
You guys should open up things, give us total edit in franchise anytime in the season.

Let us decide how many innings in a game, and the number of games in a season, offer this in franchise mode.

I'm getting a little tired for now, more to come later......
Thanks again for making us feel a part of this wonderful state of the art ballgame!

This right here! This is exactly what I have been saying guys. Please oh please fix this, at least get it back to when it was useable in the '05 version. Again, my vote would be to impliment the same software you use for the soccer eye toy feature. It looks MUCH better. Definately fix the one sided shadow, it makes no sense and the end result on the field is just aweful. It's a great feature, and one of my biggest draws to the game, next to of course the excellent gameplay, so I would hate to see it scrapped, just please make it useable.

Re: Official MLB 2007 - Wishlist

Chris, glad you are back to hear us sing the praises of MLB!!

here is a few things I thought should be included:

weather (you should be able to play in light rain)

On both the PS2 and PSP versions, sometimes a fielder would throw over the 1st basemans (or 3rd basemans) head and it would end up in the stands, but the game wouldn't go back to the batter, it would just keep you on the field with no ball thrown back into play, and it didn't matter if you changed sides or not to try to get the game going again...
the only thing you could do was quit.
Offhand I would say it happened once in every ten or twelve games played....

        I hope you fixed this....

Also please, PLEASE tell me that wifi play on the psp has a better framerate...
        (I imagine this is so)
it was almost impossible to play multiplayer...
Also for the PSP version, I would like to request a change to runner lead-offs
with the shoulder buttons and a steal should be the shoulder button + the
square, circle, triangle, or cross button, or something similar.

In last year's PSP version, it was a all or nothing steal, with no lead-offs... it took a lot of strategy out of the game.

Also, I'm selfishly hoping for the new big screen at Turner Field and the crowd (audio only obviously...) doing the Tomahawk Chop.

        Welcome back, Chris.
MLB 2006 was awesome and for this gamer, has eclipsed High Heat
to be one of the greatest baseball franchises of all time...

        I'm highly anticipating MLB06.

This is different than that pitcher throwing strikes and balls....With a guy with a great "stuff" rating...even his pitches in the zone are tough to hit.

Those are two things I'd really like to see as well, especially the pitcher "stuff" rating. If pitchers "stuff" is done correctly then guys like Clemens & Dontrelle Willis might finally perform more like they do in reality..... and that is completely dominate the batters 90% of the time.

I hope the PSP version has the same batter walk ups, replays, etc. as its console brother. And I hope the PS2 version has even more of all of those this year.

Chris, since you guys added more presentations, does that mean you added more signature batter rituals, swings, and HR celebrations too?

Another thing I' like to see to increase realism is more foul balls. Not the kind that just go back into the stands but foul tips that go into the ground, the batters leg/shoe, catcher, umpire, etc--and the appropriate animation that goes with it (i.e., pain).

I know a lot of people are against this but I would like more game tuning sliders to complement what is there now.

For additional realism, how about dirty/pine tar blackened helmets for some players (e.g., Bigio). We have soiled uniforms but every player has a nice shiny helmet.

I think the stadium models were among the best compared to other games but there is always room for improvement. I'm sure we will get the new Bush stadium but what about any other new classic or minor league parks?

That's all for now. Thanks for providing the community early feedback on the game.
Yes, we have added more personal batting and pitching anims.

Yes, there are more foul balls. We have added a few foul ball specific animations.

Slider addtions are still a work-in-progress.

I will talk to the graphics guys about dirty helmets.

I know the new Busch Stadium is in, I don't know about other stadium additions.

Last year, that angle was taken out and the camera just stayed at the traditional overhead view as the throw went across the diamond.

Not sure if my explanation makes sense, but any chance of that camera angle (or a similar one) making its way back into the game this year?
