    Re: batter-pitcher duels

for the three games I've played (I play as The Rays) against the Yankees, it seems that there are a lot more fouled off pitches by the CPU...7 or 8 in an at-bat...then again, maybe because it's the Yankees. LOL

Admitedly, there will be a lot more tweaking by myself to see things happen...as well as to see if I can MAKE some things happen.

    a) the Citifield construction beyond the outfield walls at Shea is absent on the PS2 version.

    b) the create-a-player option is the same for the PS2 version of the Show 07...meaning VERY limited. Of course, there is no red glove option. But I know Kolbe said that for the PS3, this feature is awesome.

    b) NONE of the ficticious players can have their names edited at all, unless you go into Franchise mode. I didn't try season mode yet.

    c) The batting stances out of the box are really screwed up for many players. And SCEA, can you all get Frank Thomas' stance correct? The man hits from a CROUCH, he DOES NOT hit upright.......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    d) The same goes for many pitchers' deliveries....incorrect

    e) The players' speeds are all over the place....Paul LoDuca at about a 60 rating out-of-the-box? I DON'T think so.....

Thanks for the writeup Rod. Still, pretty hard to get too upset about the second-best baseball game ever created (PS3 version being #1), regardless of Thomas' incorrect batting stance

            re: Evan Langoria

he's not in the game...and I cannot edit any of the ficticious players (from other teams or on the FA list)...so...I have to wait till I've had enough of playing exhibitions...then when I go to Franchise mode, I will repost his CAP exactly the way I had for The Show 2007.

              @ baa7

you're right...at least we can correct those shortcomings, but...there are a TON of guys with wrong stances and deliveries...

                @ vinny_b

After 3 games, I'll be fair and say it's a little better...nothing earthshaking, but it is smoother....

Opposite field hits in my opinion, still have that 'sting' to em if they're hit solidly....and the slicing/ball trajectory is there

There is no active bullpen in the PS2

you know...it's VERY early, but...some of this crazy stuff going on with the PS3 version, has me thinking that I may be sticking with the PS2 version....

Again, it's early, but we'll all see how things shake out

Omg, can you please post the new animations like windups/batting stances? I've asked at least 10x today but no one gave me a good answer. I know it doesn't really concern everyone but this could affect whether I buy this and wait for the PS3 in the summer or not just not buy the PS2 version at all. Thanks!

In the PS2 version does the out of town scoreboards work correctly?
. Little did anyone really know that the groundwork was being set for, arguably, the most devastating offense in the history of college football.

Re: **MLB 08: The Show (PS2) First Impressions Thread**

I've played a few games for PS2 and I've noticed quite a few glitches in the gameplay aspect. I've had a linedrive go thru the rightfield wall, leaving my fielder helpless and watching a inside the park HR. I did a mound visit once and all the players involved were in fast forward. I lol'd. Also, I went to pinch run Varitek and the CPU informed me he was injured and had to be replaced. I had no other choice, I had to replace him which sucks.

Batter/Pitcher Analysis is a pretty awesome feature. Unfortunatly it goes on a game played basis, and does not tally during your 'chise.

Haven't played Franchise mode deep enough to see if the CPU pulls off deals, but I did notice that your management stays intact and doesn't disappear after each game. Starting pitchers are messed up, I was scheduled for a Kendrick- Patterson match-up but it was Tim Redding who threw out the first pitch.

Framerate is improved drastically, new fielding animations are in especially on the hot corner.

Excellent observation, thanks. Yeah, one needs to be able to check that over many games to get the full value out of that feature. But I imagine a particular CPU team's pitcher would pitch the same every time you faced him. So it would be a matter of noting what he throws, so that you have that info for the next time you face him.
