LOL, I must be in the wrong county in NY. I stopped at 2 different gamestops and they both told me the 4th. As for the Walmarts here, Well they seem to get the games way after release date.

I dunno... I was able to pick up 08 last year at my local Wal Mart on Feb. 29th

I think it just depends on the IQ's of the folks working gaming departments or stores. And at my local WalMart, those IQ's are low. So the game was on the shelf about four days early last year.

I bought my copy. The next day, I was there for something else, and overheard another guy asking about the PS3 version. Only the PS2 version was on the shelf. The clerk went and looked it up, and said, "Oh, oops, we are not supposed to have this out on the shelves yet." And the clerk went and took all the PS2 versions off the shelves!

Which Wal-Mart?

The one on Hwy 29. I was there the friday night before 08 came out and it wasn't on the shelves, but they had a bunch of copies stacked underneath the rest of the ps3 games.

You never can tell about these things. Last year in Georgia I stopped by my local Wal-mart on the 27th of this month, I picked up MLB 08 for the PS3. That is why I did not preorder this year, hoping to get lucky again...

I got MLB 08 the Sunday before it was slated to come out last year at a local Northern Kentucky Meijer. Needless to say I'll check there again.

Last year I got it a week early at the Walmart that's about 2 min from my condo.

Why anyone pre-orders (unless they live too far from ANY commerce to drive into town and buy the game) baffles me.

On release day, you can walk into any Walmart, Best Buy, Game Crazy, etc., etc., etc. and buy the game.

And as we are discussing, maybe before release day ....

I was planning to reserve this weekend at Gamestop anyway, so hopefully this is true, I'd like to have it a week early - I've played the demo so much I feel as though I should stop so the game feels fresh when it ships out.

I got MLB 08 the Sunday before it was slated to come out last year at a local Northern Kentucky Meijer. Needless to say I'll check there again.

If you find it early again at that Meijer, let me know - I'd gladly take a trip across the river to pick this up early.

I work Loss Prevention at Wal-Mart and know our registers prompt not to sell a street dated title. Had to let an employee go trying to sell one early after a guy convinced him it had already released. Said he would cut him a deal and the guy ringing up got caught and was already being watched for other things. It's not worth a job and a company fine to sell a guy early. Why eveyone can't wait baffles me..

It was the Meijer in Cold Spring near Kroger. I'll definitely let you know because I'm always out early on Sunday mornings.

Sadly, up here in Canada baseball titles are not on the top of the list for stores. Two years ago I had to wait a couple of days after release date to get it. Last year I had to dig into a box on the floor (on release day) in the store to help myself because they were in no rush to put it out on the shelves.

Last year I had to dig into a box on the floor (on release day) in the store to help myself because they were in no rush to put it out on the shelves.

That's my fear, too. Getting it on release day at all. There's a FutureShop, Best Buy, Zellers, Wal-Mart, and two EB stores all within a few blocks of each other near our apartment, so hopefully I don't have too much trouble.

I just don't foresee much of a rush to stock an English-only baseball game in a heavily Franco and Italian part of Montreal, though, so we'll see how it goes.
