No, I don't have any trouble believing that most stores will have the show come Friday. That's why I started this thread...

The guy I was quoting was trying to make the case that "EVERYTHING" arrives a week or two early. And while that might be true for the distribution centers, it definitely is not the case for many stores. Like I said before, I've gone into plenty of stores on the release/street date only to be turned away because the still had not received the game. There's nothing to believe or not believe about that.. If I can't buy the game on the street date it's because the store doesn't have it.

I agree with this. If you look back to last year 2k8 was reported to have 'gone gold' on Feb 28 and was in stores March 3rd if I'm not mistaken. It was certainly not in stores '1 or 2 weeks early' just waiting for the street date. More like 'just in time' where it went gold, was manufactured, then immediately shipped to retailers in time for the street date.

I'm wondering if we are going to hear about MLB '09 going gold this week?

i was total opposite last year since i was wanting mlb 2k8 at gamestop and all they had in at that time was mlb 08 the show, and the guy tried to sell me that, so i ended up taking the show and was soooo glad i did.. i hope i find a walmart or something to sell this game on friday that would be a nice weekend before the birthday present..good luck guys

Hey, just throwing this out there and dont know if it will help or not. I guess it depends on when gamestop gets their games in. BUT, Halo Wars(which i have no care for but loving it right now) is having a midnight release at gamestop on March 3rd. So, technically, like i said, depending on when they get thier games. We might just be able to pick it up at gamestop at midnight FOR SURE.

FWIW, I talked to my stepbrother today. He works at gamestop and he said that he thinks they're getting the show a couple days early BUT they can't sell it to anyone early because they'll get fined and fired. He will however let me know if they end up being allowed to release it earlier than expected.

He works at gamestop and he said that he thinks they're getting the show a couple days early BUT they can't sell it to anyone early because they'll get fined and fired. He will however let me know if they end up being allowed to release it earlier than expected.

I hope so but doubt it will happen. I pre-ordered from them about a week ago, so we'll see what happens.

If they have it and are open at midnight for the Halo Wars Release, then they should be able to sell the show as well.

I've been to 4 different gamestops and they all say they will have the game well before the 3rd, but will not sell until then.

IMHO, the game-focused stores know what they are doing, so you can't get the game early there .... not easily.

The trick is to find the Walmart/Target/Best Buy near you with the dumbest staff. They will often put it out and sell it early, in my experience.

I'm not judging anyone. Whatever tickles your fancy. But there's alot of belly-aching going on about getting/not getting the game early. I just don't know why people put themselves through the torture. We know the stores will have it on March 3. Patience is a virtue, and sadly, few possess it. But if someone wants to drive 100 miles to play a game 48 hours before I do, then more power to them.
