Sheepishly....I will admit...I meant he should sit down on his own.
Hey it's tough to make all those decisions AND have the bowl of Doritos and some club soda all at the same time!
Or trying to punish my 3rd bomber of homebrew!!

FOR me it's just getting to know what the game does and how. he lack of a REAL users manual is disappointing on such an expensive game.

    AWESOME otherwise.

Just played my first game on legend. Never played above all-star. Cardinals @ Cubs, won 2-0 with an A-Ram homerun and a Fuku RBI Single in the seventh.

Much harder to hit. Had like 1 hit going into the 7th (A-Ram homer). Pitching didn't seem to much harder, as I had Z go 4 2/3 with no hit and he finished 8IP 4H 0ER 3BB......you can guess who the 3BB were to LOL.

      So much better than Madden.

Just another reason why I love this game. I just finished a three game series against the Marlins. In game 1 I drew 8 walks but couldn't get a clutch hit to save my life and lost 4-2. In game 2 I only managed 3 hits the whole game, struck out 13 times, and won 1-0....

So naturally game 3 was a back and forth slugfest! I was trailing 8-3 in the 4th, tied it at 8 in the 6th, fell behind 11-8 in the seventh, got within 11-10 in the bottom of the eighth, and then tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the 9th. Onto the 10th where I gave up 2 in the top half and then somehow Greg Dobbs came through with a two run, two out, two strike single to tie it in the bottom of the 10th. Finally won it with 1 out in the 11th on a bases loaded sac fly by Howard.

3 games, 3 completely different outcomes. Now it did take me a while to find the sliders that worked best for me (HOF level) but I am loving how realistic this game can be. The game variety is amazing! Anyways, had to take some time off to post this, back upstairs to take on the Nats.

I agree. The variety of the games can be great.

Playing one franchise game a day with my Nats. I got swept by the Bluejays and then somehow I managed to sweep the YANKEES of all teams (one game was a sim because I was gone), and then swept Baltimore. I actually scored six runs in the first inning of the last game in the series and here's the number of pitches thrown by the O's starter with Johnson batting for the second time in the inning. Went on to win this one 16-1, a rare blow out.

You're right about finding your comfort level. I think the biggest difference for me was turning down the OFer's speed. Seeing the right amount of extra base hits.

That picture is, im my opinion, the most rewarding aspect of the game (well besides winning, of course). Just knowing that because I worked counts deep and got key hits, I was able to knock the pitcher out of the game early.

I had a game today where the opposing pitcher only pitched 2 1/3.

Not too far off from what happened a few weeks ago. One short of the sweep. Glad I was at the first Nat's game where the Yanks won.

Jim, it's funny looking at that screenshot that I initially thought the number of pitches was kind of low for the second time through the lineup. Then I realized that the way I play the game and have my sliders tweaked, I tend to work counts, rarely swing until I have a strike on me, and always try and work the starter and get him out as soon as possible. Now of course I have games where the opposing starter pounds the zone and only has 70 pitches through six innings (which again shows the great game variety)

Anyways, this made me curious as to how others play the game and their approaches at the plate...i.e. a pitch count that may seem low to me may be a lot to someone else.

My approach at the plate depends usually on who's pitching and the lineup I have that day.

But a general rule of thumb is that if a pitcher begins the game with little confidence(typically half the bar is full) then no matter who he is, I'm jumping all over him at every opportunity because I don't want to take strikes and let him build up his confidence.

If the pitcher has full confidence(more than half bar) then I typically play it by ear and generally take the first strike unless the pitch is the pitch I'm looking for and in the zone I'm looking for.

Guys, I have the PS2 version and have a question for you: Is there anything I can do, slider-related, to get the 1B and 3B to make plays on balls hit down the line?

Drives me nuts when a ball is hit down the line (all types of hits, not just liners) and my fielders don't even attempt to make a play on the ball.

try raising the fielder reaction time slider.

Thanks, CB. I actually caved in and tweaked the sliders (I try and play on default as long as possible) and noticed that most have the fielder reaction slider maxed out. I've played a couple of games and definitely notice a difference.

Now, I just need to figure out what team to roll with in my new franchise. I was thinking either the Royals or Rockies.

Jim--What did you turn the OF Speed down to? I finally feel comfortable with the game again, but one of my last issues is that the CPU can go first to third regularly where I can't at all.
