Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Sorry man, I started to make a post but then my battery died.
Anyway, my guess is we're not going to get a stadium update like that, but honestly I think that posts like this that I'm making light a fire under SCEA's butt even more to just prove me wrong that they can do exactly that, and thus would. That's the kind of developing team that you're dealing with here, and that's the kind of devotion they have to making their community happy.
So it wouldn't be impossible to get the things like this that you said (the jerseys probably not), but then again changing the color of the wall probably isn't as easy as using the Magic Wand tool and changing the hues. Maybe a developer could step in and answer this for sure.
Anyway, most patch updates address things through coding, not cosmetic changes. That doesn't mean that stuff can't be done.Comment

I have NO problems check swinging...'till the 3rd B Ump says "Yeah...he went!"Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Not true. I can check swing with no problems. Every batter, No. But a good amount which I'm sure is ratings related.Joshua:

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
This year they really have it tied to ratings and not every player can easily check swing.Joshua:

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I hit two homers with A-Rod at Citifield and both barely got out of the park, I knew I didn't hit the pitch completely square but knew I got a lot of it - possibly enough to get out of the park. Both ended up just clearing the fence, I posted a vid of Beltran just missing robbing one of them. I def can't do that with other players in the Yankee lineup, it was cool because it was A-Rod who still had enough power even though he didn't get all of it.
And then I started my RTTS, I total disaster.
I think I was 4-35 to start the Spring, I don't remember the exact stat line but I posted it earlier in this thread. Hit a ton of weak ground balls and in general looked pathetic at the plate. Played one last Boston/NYY game after that debacle and hit three homers off Beckett. Love the difference."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I have had zero issues with check swings but it may be due to the fact that I'm a poor hitter & very indecisive. I swear I check swing 2 or 3 times per inning, if not per batter.
And as far as Citi Field goes, I believe the SCEA team told us they did not get permission to tour the stadium as they wanted to.
That prompts a question for the devs. Why wouldn't MLB want you to see a stadium that's going to appear in a game that bears the name "MLB"?Comment

Still wouldn't surprise me to see blue walls end up out there just because they want to throw everyone off about until it's officially ready.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Check swings work fine. I haven't had any problems being subtle enough with it. Maybe I'm going crazy, but it seems to me that the later you are on the swing, the least likely the hitter will hold up. I tend to be early, so maybe that's why I can check easily. Maybe SCEA can confirm this.
As for walks. There are plenty. Patience is important. Just because it's 0-2, doesn't mean it's a done deal. Last game I played, I got Lackey to throw over 100 pitches before being taken out with a runner on first and no outs in the 5th inning (Scoscia should have never put him in there to start the 5th!) Lackey also walked me five times in the process and the inning prior, he got into four full-counts. It just wasn't his day. I could tell off the bat with the way he was missing the corners. So I sat and waited for good pitches."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
