Not to pick on you, but at some point, I would hope everyone finally comes to the realization that when people talk about a lack of walks, they are referring to it from the other side. The assumption is always that people are talking about batting while they are usually talking about pitching. Now I'm not saying anything in regards to this version on that issue because I've hardly played yet, but I can tell you that I have been, in years past, harping on the walks issue, but I usually draw them just fine. It's giving them up that's always been the issue. Maybe this year is different; I don't know yet.

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Just wanted to say this and it certainly didn't deserve it's own thread...
It may sound silly, but I actually miss my coke bottles in Left over the Monster. I hit a HR with Youk and if the bottles were there, it would have had that satisfying bounce-back off of them.
Yes, I know they're supposed to be gone and yes i know that it's not really an impression based on the game itself. I was just a bit surprised that I missed having them there, since I didn't really care one way or another when they announced they would be removed...lol. Oh well.
Anyway, enjoying the game. Aside from the apparent franchise roster issues (which have me a bit worried) I'm quite pleased.

But, I do pitch walks. In one demo game, I couldn't find the zone with Kazmir and walked four in four innings. I use classic."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
This probably isn't a "little thing" as much as it is just funny. I'm playing as the Giants vs San Diego and Lincecum hits a decent shot down the first base line for Gonzalez to make a diving stab on. He throws from his *** and gets him out, and Vasgersian makes some comment in the play-by-play about him "throwing from his fanny as he gets the out at first."

Ah, ok. I've walked guys, but probably not as many as there should be. I've only used top starters because I played a few Opening Day games. So I would have to judge it when I use guys with less control.

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
This game has not disappointed. I have only played a few exhibition games. Things I noticed:
1) Kauffman renovated -- I had no idea...It looks sweet
2) Saw a catcher take one in the cup and the ump stopped the game so he could shake it off....
3) The "no doubt" camera has different angles this year. I hit one with Giambi that showed the view from behind the hitter and you could see the ball, a rope to right center, leave the park and see the fans reach for it....I know last year there would be a shot like this down the lines...It was sweet..
4) Outfielders banging into the wall trying to make a leaping catch..
5) The pitching and hitting are much improved...
6) The custom cheers and jeers is a sweet touch. Sounds more like EVP's (ghost voices) but does the trick...Also, the custom songs for batter walk-ups are nice.
I played the Cubbies in an exhibition as I used the A's. The lighting is absolutely fantastic. The shade is a tad dark but you can really tell when the lights kick on.
Overall, loving this much more than last year's game....What?Comment
