This game kicks serious ***. I'll even forgive the west coast bias in ranking the Marlins 27th. Though I have to say they did some serious justice to their batting stances. Everyone looks amazing. Awesome game, it plays so well with a massive amount of variety. I definitely feel there is a huge difference in pitchers this year. I beat the **** out of the Nats pitchers and then was completely shut down the next series against the Mets.

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Just played a 14 inning game where i won with a Walk Off 3-R HR from Scott Hairston. Around the 11th ,Matty said "And i believe we lost all of our East Coast Viewers as we are approaching midnight over here on the West Coast,3 am over in the East". Nothing special but i found that cool.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Had they not touched lighting or stadiums or uniforms or stances, I'd be fine because I do think the gameplay is much more polished.
So, in terms of gameplay, what exactly do you think is the same as last version?Last edited by slthree; 03-05-2009, 11:36 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I just got the game today. Played for 5 hours straight. Absolutely amazing game. Only issues I have so far is I am seeing to many wild pitches, and I am not hitting well at all. in 5 games I won 1, haven't scored more than 3 runs in a game. I also haven't hit a homerun. I assume once I get used to the hitting again I will start to score more.
Very impressed with the little improvements this year.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
since the game is absolutely amazing and incredible to look at this year...I can point out one thing i would LOVE to see them improve for 2010...
Homeruns.
Am I the only one that wants to see the player trot all the way around the bases? Its such a huge deal to crush one, particularly in a big game, I would love to have the opportunity to watch him soak it all in as he hits each bag. The homeruns are over in a flash in this game....and its interesting cuz they show the full animation of someone WALKING to first base, but not the full HR trot.
Id like to see the trot, home plate celebration, couple replays from different angles, pitcher reaction, etc.
we can always press x if we want to move on.
now back to playing!Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Yeah, this is the best baseball game I've ever played bar none. I've been sitting here in the hitting practice for almost two hours just using different hitter/pitcher matchups and pitch combinations. The hitting model is the best I've ever experiened. I'm going to wait for the next roster update to come before I start up a franchise, but my gosh is this game incredible. The graphics are absolutely PHENOMENAL. Every player face I've seen in the game has been spot on, and it appears that just about everyone has their own facial model as well as an accurate batting stance. There are some obvious missing/wrong signature styles, but they are few and far between and I'm sure the developers will update/add new sig styles when necessaryComment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I agree with improving HR celebrations. I wouldn't want it for each HR but for big ones, in the right spots, a better celebration is needed. I also agree with having replays from different angles, etc. I mean people who dont wanna see them can just skip them.ephemeralComment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I've played the hell out of this game since Tuesday. Simply put,it's the best sports game I've ever played. Hitting is much harder this year and the fielding is smooth as butter. GREAT JOB SCEA! Thanks!!NFL:Packers
MLB:Reds/Tigers
NHL:Red Wings
NCAA:Michigan Wolverines.
F-1: Ferrari.
It's been a while OS. Hope all are doing well!Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I don't think its unfair to call the game MLB 08.5. It just depends on what you consider a huge upgrade or not. I think '09 is better in many ways but I also think virtually every sports game is ___.5 the next year because of the one year dev cycles. Very few sports games can truly claim to be a big upgrade from one year to the next. It's just a matter of opinion.Comment
