I don't know.. I played last years road to the show until like the day before 09 came out... so much fun. This year is just too damn hard. I feel like i'm just biding my time until the rosters are ready so i can start a franchise. Which kinda sucks cuz road to the show might be my favorite addition to a sports game ever... i just can't get into this year

Maybe you got burned out from playing it to death last year and the fact that you're starting all over probably isn't fun either. I say grind it out till you get your guy's career moving and maybe it'll start getting exciting to you like last year.

I found hitting very hard this year for RTTS. I know that I have to be patient and just rack in the points in contact and power, I can't expect to do much with those categories in the 50s.

.. But when I found out how to pitch in RTTS with the catcher view, that was it. I'm a SP in AA, going 6-6 2.65 ERA, and made the allstar team.

I'm having a lot more fun with the pitcher, but I'll go back to my hitter and just suffer the bad games until I get the ratings to a respectable level.

Yeah, I've given an IBB before and not gotten pulled, I think it was more along the lines of me giving up the walk and the CPU manager not distinguishing.

As far as getting pulled after 27 batters no matter what, I can't speak for 09' because I haven't been in that situation yet, but last year, I threw a couple of shutouts and definitely gave up hits or walks after the 27 batter mark.

For pitchers, do you need to upgrade H, K, BB and HR/9 to not give up tons of hits while actually pitching? I thought those were simulation-only stats. But I noticed my closer giving up quite a few BS hits on pitches thrown way outside the zone or some such.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

Well, i created a SP for my player. Was drafted by the Brewers and was sent down to their AA club (Stars). So here i'am with a 2 year contract making all their goals and still on the bench. I finially went to the coach an asked him to get me in the starting rotation, which he agreed to.

Now i'm trying to get into AAA..lol. Here are my stats playing on All-Star settings with default sliders.

Games Pitched: 32
Wins: 5
Loses: 1
ERA: 2.88
IP: 84.1
HR: 4
Hits: 82
Walks: 16
K's: 67

EDIT: What kills me is when your team drops fly balls or bobbles ground balls that would be outs, and you get a negative for that.

It got frustrating enough for me to where I just turned off errors completely via sliders. Mainly because my friend was watching me play and he used quite a few colorful words to describe how stupid it was that I was penalized for them screwing up constantly.

Though not being able to laugh at the absurdity of it...

What I've learned is to really pay attention to whats going on and try to get hits to my fielders strengths. For my squad I try to get the groundouts going away from the ss and more to 2nd and 1st as they seem better to handle them and try to get popouts to left field.

I've found that I have no luck no matter what kind of pitches i throw. The batters always manage to hit it to my craptacular fielders.

That how I am with lefties now. No more change-ups inside EVER! I've been getting killed by pitching there. Still happens every once in a while because I'm all over but never intentionally.

Oh and I'm getting to the point where I'm done with this "variable strike zone" BS. They never expand the strike zone and more often than not, I get squeezed on balls that are clearly 2/3 or all the way in the zone being called balles instead of strikes.

im lovin the pitcher rtts. last year i was always a batter. im 3rd in the rotation in the 1st month of AAA after playing a full year of AA. ive written before that i dont mind staying in the minors as long as i can rack up the points. often i wont complete all of my goals, i will usually leave 1 imcomplete so i wont get promoted too fast.

something ive noticed is that my catcher never calls for a pitch out of the strike zone. so i always press select to check out the batters hot/cold zones and pitch to his weaknesses, it seems to really pay off no matter if its in the zone or not.

question: my number changed when i was promoted to AAA, so i edited my player to my preferred number and saved but im still the wrong number. ive read about guys having to 'buy' a number if its been taken. how do you do this?

Can you have your cyberface for your RTTS player?

i've read that you can with the ps eye and toy but some sites were saying it was exclusive for the ps2
