Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

i made it to the show in my 3rd season. 1 year for each level of ball so far. in AA i was around 12-9 with about a 3.30 era, then 7-5 in AAA, i got hurt for a couple months but still have about a 3.50 era. in the bigs im playing for the phillies who are loaded up. im the 5th starter behind cole hammels, rich harden, ben sheets and joe blanton. ive had a couple of great starts so far and i owe a lot of that to the defense. its so nice to not have balls thrown over the 1st basemans head and easy popups being dropped.
im rated as a 'b' overall with all 'b' rating except defense which is 'd'. mid-high 90's fastball, 12-6 curve and a slider.
i brushed a guy back in AAA and it was pretty funny. the next pitch he popped out and on his way back to the dugout we had a few words with each other! it was great, the play by play guys were like "oh, i guess he didnt like getting brushed back by the previous pitch and he has a few choice words for the pitcher".

Wow, after winning the AA championship and going 11-7 2.72 ERA, I was called up to the Astros! That's insane, an 18 year old skipping AAA and right to the big league bullpen.

        First game, I faired well

Second game, I got torched by Ryan Howard and Utley, getting a 20 ERA in that game.

Well that's a shame. How much was your pay increase from AA to "The Show"?

1st year drafted by the Rangers, went thru ST was decent at best sent to Frisco. Started as MRP for 3 games got a hold then got promoted to #5 starter. Started All-Star game for the South at 9-3(got a hit & a RBI in the All-Star game despite not batting since ST), finished season at 17-4 150+ K(177 I think) ~1.50 ERA 4 CG 4 SO never got called up and got eliminated from the playoffs before my start(Game 5? I though you went only 4 deep in playoffs at most not 5) Never got called up to AAA or 40 man roster but I've been called too good for my own good. Paid 30K.

2nd year didn't go to ST currently 11/16 in Org and 5th pitcher in AAA(OK). Currently 3-1 around 1.70 ERA. Paid 75K.

Well, after playing in the All-Star game the Brewers trade me to Phillie. The good thing is, their AA team is in first place. The bad is that they will keep me on AA for the playoff games instead of moving up to AAA.

Now, i'm first in the rotation for starting pitchers with a record of 9-3 with 3.17 ERA, 108 K's, 135 IP. but the pitching staff for the Phillies are too good. Even the ones in AAA are way too good. I have no idea why i was traded to a team that is stacked with very good to great pitchers.

Put up some hair-raising numbers for the Cards in Spring Training as a starter, and so now I'm the long relief guy for the AA Springfield Cardinals. Love it!

This is the first time I've played RTTS, and while I still very much enjoy it, I'm struggling in season 2 to make my CF a better hitter. I couldn't hit sand if I fell off a camel. I'm not sure the most productive use of training points so far, but I haven't really had a bunch to spend unless I SIM a few games and get some.

My fielding is pretty good. I can't steal anything though, I'm slower than molasses in winter...

                        Any thoughts?

What's with the red circle around the ball in flight? It doesn't help you catch the ball or anything since the ball is only really visible (at least in the outfield) for a second. Is it also there when you play the infield on a ground ball?

Or is this a development thing that they forgot to remove?

I made myself a little Grady Sizemore type center fielder, or at least that was my hope. Got drafted by the A's. Stunk most of Spring Training, started to hit a little only toward the end. Finished around .230 with a homer and no walks... hacking like crazy. Assigned to AA, backing up center and getting an occasional start in the corners. Hitting .333 so far, very early in limited play.

I also had that bug, or whatever you wanna call it, where my lefty throwing fielder was subbed in at 3rd and suddenly switched throwing arms.
