I have a quick question for the RTTS pitchers. How in the heck do you snag those hits that go right up the middle? It's so annoying to see the ball go right past me and my pitcher just watch them go by. Am i supposed to be hitting a button or is it a skill i have to up?

Keep those RTTS posts coming guys. I got mine in my sig, but maybe I'll return with a couple of blurbs in this thread once in a while.
I'll get the exact stats tonight. They aren't impressive.

I love the Missions uni's though.

So, I have no idea how this works, but after batting .200 in my first season of AAA, and batting under .200 in ST the following year, I made it to the majors. I'm the bench catcher for the Pirates, and while I'm not complaining, WTF?! This makes no sense at all...

The game goes by your overall not your stats. So when a new season starts, the top overalls end up in the Majors.

Playing a 3B in RTTS and was drafted by the Dodgers but 2 games before the AA all star break I was traded to the Marlins. Not to bad, in the Dodgers system I was 4 out of 6 3B. In the Marlins im 2 out of 4. So looks like I will have a better chance to make it to The Show. I also like how you get 250 skill points when you make the all star game roster, even tho I only came in to pinch hit.

I wish you would get more points for being a starter on the All-Star team. I was the starting pitcher (and I got the win) ... I only started because the two guys better than me got called up.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

Well I had an eventful evening...

When we last left off I believe I was the #5 SP for the Rangers AAA team. My contract was due up this year and I was only making 37K for a AAA starter. My overall rating wasn't as high as other pitchers, and my organizational rank was pretty low as well, but yet I seemed to be the best. Maybe I need to step from All-Star to Legend.

Anyway, I pitched a few more games at AAA and got another message that they would love to try me out in the majors but don't have room. Instead of requesting a trade, I request to be called up. Well a second later I'm the #5 SP for the Texas Rangers. My salary did jump a bit, but not a lot. I think around 370K for the remainder of the year.

My success continued but there still wasn't enough room for me on the team. Instead of requesting a trade, the Mets acquired me in a July trade. After looking at the standings, it was evident that the Mets were buying and I was added to make a run at the wild card.

The season goes on and we make the wild card spot. We first beat the Cubs, then the Phillies, and are now heading to the World Series. You won't believe who we're facing. The New York Mets versus the New York Yankees. No kidding. Since I'm #5 starting, but the Ace already went the last series, I'm due to pitch the fourth game. I sim ahead and find out we've swept the Yankees thus far and it's up to me to close series with a 4-0 series victory.

(And now for something completely different)
When your pitching in the playoffs, especially the World Series, you get extra bonus on points. Things that normally get you 25 points may now give you 30, etc. Of course you can get those points taken away just as easily.

                  (Now back to the show)
I managed to go 7.1 IP with 3 ER. Fortunately the 3ER wasn't enough as we already had a 6-0 lead heading into the 7th. Looks like I need to work on stamina and clutch pitching.

Well we got the win, I win a World Series my first year in the majors and walked way earning 330 points to spend on whatever I want.

My ratings are still low. Overall I'm still a C. Velocity has reached B, stamina B, control D, fielding F, potential A. So I got greedy and thought I would try the FA market. Thinking I'm a up and coming pitcher coming off a WS victory that maybe somone would be interested. I could't have been more wrong.

Simming through 99% of the offseason and I only got one offer, from the Mets. 4 years 1,712,000. I wasn't a fan of 4 years so I countered with a shorter offer for more money! They didn't like that but countered back with 4 years 2,040,000 in the MLB rotation. So now I start off around 480k my first year and get up to 600k my last year.

ST has just started so we'll see how that goes. I will be going into my fourth season and am now a regular starter with the Mets major league team. Although my ratings might not show it, my pitching does. I'm not a SO pitcher, but I force a lot of outs.

If it's like last year, all points earned in RTTS are doubled for postseason games.

I got like 5 more points than usual pitching in the AA All-Star game, do you get more points when you move from AA to AAA?

Just a little FYI. You can't become a free agent until you have 6 years of MLB service. After three you become eligible for arbitration (I think) But you will be property of the Mets for a while.

Ahhh, so that's why it was only the Mets offering him a deal....

Cool story though, guitararchitect7! I'm still in AA my 2nd year doing long relief, I really need to get up to a starting role soon or I'll go crazy. Didn't have time to play last night, but I will tonight!

Turns out, Doumit was injured. That's why I was playing in the majors. After a few games, I got sent back down to AAA, but they told me that I'll be staying on the 40-man roster, so who know what will happen.

No I did not see an increase. There did seem to be a increase in goals though.
