No. I'd love to leave the Pirates organization. Luckily, their farm teams are making the playoffs, so at least I'm getting some playoff bonuses.

So, with my pitcher, I threw my first CG in AAA. 5 hits, 4 K's. I'm in the top 5 in every major statistical category, and complete every goal I'm given, yet I still remain the #5 starter, with no call up.

As for my catcher, I finally caved after starting the season in the bigs, getting sent down to AAA, and then being sent down AGAIN to AA, and changed the difficulty to veteran. I was batting around .285 when I got sent back up to AAA. I have a feeling that I'll be getting a September call up, but who knows. I suck at hitting.

Well I started my RTTS as a SP on Monday. My guy, Reggie Stefani (as close to my name as I can get, take off the "i". Anyways, I stunk in spring training but have finally worked my way up to the fifth starter in AA in the Astros organization. I'm ranked dead last in the organization that is pitching rich according to the game. I doubt i'll stick with the Astros unless i continue to be the 19 year old phenom. I'll get my first start this evening. I currently have 3 pitches, 4 seam FB, Change, and a Curve. I think i'm going to add a Slider before my first start so I can start working on that. I'll post the results.

I really wish the manager AI in this mode wasn't so completely stupid. My SP carried my AA team to the playoffs with 6 straight wins, led the league in shutouts and complete games, then right before the playoffs start I get an email telling me I've been sent to the minors because of my constant failures (except I'm already in the minors..), followed by a note telling me I've been moved to the bullpen. Bleh.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

I am currently coming up on the All-Star break of season one in AA ball pitching for the Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros) playing on default legend.

I pitched fairly well in spring training and signed a one year deal for $30k.

I've got a 4 seamer, slider and changeup. Fastball hits 95-97 and slider has solid control. I throw the change maybe 4-5 times a game. Thinking about adding a fourth later in the season, but I am really liking the fastball/slider power setup.

I am now #5 in the rotation and sitting 3-0 with 46 innings pitched, 24 strikeouts,14 walks, 49 hits and an ERA of 2.03. My first game as a starter was a complete game 4 hit shutout. I am currently in the running for the All-Star game, but in a back up role.

Contrary to many people's RTTS experience (Mariners draftees) my team plays exceptional in the field and have given me solid run support. Even in 2 games I pitched poorly they staged late inning rallys to earn me a no-decision. Last night my left fielder gunned a guy at the plate to end an inning and the feeling from watching the cpu make a huge play to get you out of a jam is great.

I do the same unless I see its a fastball low and inside - then I let it rip.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

So I have a bit of a pickle right now.

I got traded to the Orioles organization and kicked some tail for the last 150 at bats of the season in AAA, hitting .330 with 10 SB and really turning a corner. I took over the starting job and ended up earning myself an invite to spring training.

Did well in the spring (.275 - 5 SB) and got a spot on the big league roster.

Good news - got a hit in my first at-bat in the bigs against some rookie pitcher for the Rangers.

Bad news - i'm basically a pinch runner that starts once every 7 to 10 days. Through the first month I only got 39 training points and i'm just not good enough to hit well in limited apperances.

The pickle is I'm in currently the number one SS in the organization. They're starting some 3B with one year left on his deal right now ahead of me at SS. So I'm in a position that if I can get sent down, play out the year as the starter in AAA, I'd be able to step into the starting position next season at 22.

So do I wait it out and risk riding the pine all year? Do I try and force a trade and possible end up in a bad situation? Or end up moving to be a pinch runner some place else?

Did anyone else negotiate more money when they got signed to a contract. I was offered 2 years at 60k, but negotiated up to 67K for 2 yrs. Just wondering. I started out mid 70's and he kept coming up and we finally got close in the middle.

I didn't try to negotiate the money, but I did drop the length offered down to a year to pull a Rod Tidwell and try to parlay a big season into a salary jump early in my career and give me the option of moving to a new team. I'll go for stability in my next contract.

I can't believe I'm about to type this, but I'm really disappointed in being called up to the majors.

I have a LF in the Blue Jays' organization. I've been doing well, but a couple injuries have caused me to only get about 350 at bats total in the first two season. I ended up riding the bench during the last month of my second season in triple A.

I figured I might have a shot being a starter in Triple A for my third season, but never did I expect not only to make the Blue Jays, but to be the every day starter! I'm currently the worst LF in the majors according to attributes.

I don't remember it ever being this easy before. I feel like I don't belong. Maybe I should just accept it and be happy. I know I don't want to be in the minors forever.

Consider urself lucky! But it makes since u are the worst LF in the game. Its not like u jumped to an All-Star already.

I don't think that forcing a trade is the best way to go, there is no guarantee that you go to a team with a crappy SS, you could get sent to Florida and be behind Hanley which would stink. If there is a way to get sent down to AAA and play everyday and then hope to take over the SS job for Baltimore the next year I say go that route.

I wish they would create a Top Prospects list for each team. It would be cool to know if my minor league teammates were ranked high or to even see if i make the list. They could do like a Top 15 or 20 and have it sponsored by Baseball America.

I made it to AAA (Nashville Sounds) to start the 2010 season. After not hitting any homeruns in AA my first year, I've hit two HRs in the first week of 2010.
