Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

AA infielders better than MLB??? Maybe on your team. I've got the Keystone Cops in my infield. One play, the SS was going for a routine grounder, 3B ran in front of him, missed the ball, tripped up the SS and the ball hit the SS and went off against the wall and rebounded into left A routine double play grounder turned into a triple and 2 unearned runs scored. My SS jumps to the right on a line drive over his head to the left.
    How we're tied for first I can't possible understand. Fortunately, I'm 7-1 with a .95 era, 45 K's and 3 BB's in June.

No tweaking and no reloading or cheating.
All training pts put into H/9 and 4 seam velocity and control. At AA, I have almost pinpoint control with a 95 MPH 4 seamer. Circle Change and Sweeping curve go wherever they want though. Gonna tweak them next. I am, however, the worst hitter in professional baseball. Hitting is like .75 or some ridiculously low number. And that's using Guess Pitch on Rookie mode. I'll hit a fastball right down the middle, right back to the pitcher.

I am trying to what to do. Create someone based on my real height and weight (well weight would be a bit more) but if so I am looking at a 5'7" guy, so I would probably just play second since I am so short. Or create someone who is normal size ? I want to be a leadoff hitter, I know that. I want be a great defensive player with SPEED!

Still don't know what to do. Maybe I will do two, a pitcher and a 2nd/SS.

      I dunno too much!

        FML

Just had that crash and burn thing happen last night. Holy **** I am in shock Like I wasn't even mad, I mean I am but, I had read about it but I was kind of like "Oh, that won't happen to me." I played 4 years, EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. This needs to be patched ASAP once the guys get back from vacation. Judging by the way they've gone about things before and how good of a job that they've done with this game, I am confident they'll get it straightened out. I just hope my RTTS isn't doomed and I won't have to start all over.

For anyone who cares, it happened to me on September 14th, 2012. I think we're seeing a pattern here. I was on the Pirates for most of the season, but got sent down to AAA for a month and a half for some fine tuning. Got the September call back up, played until the 14th and then disaster struck. I hope this gets fixed, man. I've had so many cool moments in my career, even though I've spent less than a year in the Bigs. I jacked the FIRST PITCH I EVER SAW IN THE MAJORS for a 421 foot home run off of Jair Jurrjjens.

I've also heard this happens in franchise, too. So I'm hesitant to start that. I was going to wait for the opening day rosters, but then when this happened I was like "Okay, whatever I'll just start a franchise anyway I don't really care." And then I read that it has happened to some people in franchise. Grrr.

As it turned out I got called back up to AAA after my first advancement period.

It was kind of fun hitting in AA again though - I was hitting 475 with an OPS of around 1200 when I got called back up.

I've carried it over to AAA (hitting about 390 so far) so I'm hoping for the big call up soon.

Do they offer any exercises to increase your arm strength in the field or baserunning skills? You know, apart from going to the training window and investing points into the category? Something akin to batting practice?

Is there actually batting practice etc or just the "skill" thing, you don't actually go into batting practice to bump up your skill do you?

There's base running drills as well - you get 20 steal oppurtunities. They're pretty good for raising aggression and baserunning skills.

I haven't seen anything for the arm strength/accuracy though

Are you playing on PS2? If so, that's the problem. PS2 doesn't offer it.

Well, eff me. You've used up all of my expertise, 'cuz I don't have the PS3. Sorry, man. I'm sure someone else can help you though.

I'm an idiot, too -- I just now noticed your avatar. Man, I suck.

I've gotten batting practice PLENTY of times, but never seen the base running drills. Does your speed have to be at a certain level?

For me they just come up randomly. You'll be progressing along the schedule and suddenly an alert box will pop up asking you if want to participate in the drills. I've only had batting practice drills myself.
