I created a young stud reliver named Kenny Powers...LOL.. I signed a 3 year deal with the Rays, and I'm on legend and playing lights out, I created my guy as a closer, and my coach is a ***, I keep telling him I'm ready to close and he keep being stupid to me.

I'm on the AA team pitching lights out.

Well I didn't get the September callup that I wanted, but I did get an invite to Spring Training. About 3 weeks in, I'm batting under .100, and have not started a game yet. I've only been in pinch hitting situations. Load times are starting to get on my nerves.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

Well I had 3 more starts. So far so good. First start I was doing good. Gave up no runs but a bunch of hits. Still I was able to pitch out of trouble. Then this is the weird part. It was bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th and I was at bat. Grounded out so I'm thinking that they gonna let me keep pitching. I was at 68 pitches. 6th inning comes and I strike the guy out at 71 pitches. The next thing I know he's signaling the bullpen. I'm like WTF. I could understand if you yanked me at the bottom of the 5th to get some of those runs home but you wait till I strike out the first guy in the next inning and then pull me?

Of course I went to him and complain and he acknowledged that I was right. So next start I do pretty good, gave up 2 runs in the first but cruised through to 7th or so when I hit 100 pitches which was on my last out. Won both games. But my next start didn't go to well. Gave up 4 and got yanked in the 6th when I walked the leading hitter. I had to take that one on the chin. I missed my goals because my pitches were suffering. Had to allocate those points to control.

In season 1 i get stuck at AAA all season despite not being ready for it and playing terrible. I am a 3B for the Brewers organization and hit like .170 but i couldn't get them to send me down to AA

Year 2 i finally get to go to AA and have a nice year. I get some points and raise my ratings.

Year 3- i start at AAA and am just killing the ball. I get promoted to AAA and do a nice job there and finally get a call up to play for the main club in June. I hit .281 there with 8 homers and 30 RBIs.

Offseason- I decide to not renew with the Brewers but no one even offers me a contract despite having a decent rookie season. I get stuck reupping with them for a 1 year deal.

Year 4- I am on the Brewers right from the get go. I am hitting .303 with 13 homers and 44 RBIs in 75 games and try to use all my points on achievements goals but now i am benched. I am leading the team in batting average for the people that normally start. I requested a trade but i am too valuble, i asked to change positions but its a no go, etc but now i am stuck pinch hitting.

I like RTTS but stuff like this sure frustrating.

Just to update- after a month of pinch hitting- i got sent to AAA with a .310, 16 homers and 53 RBIs- WTF.

lol someone doesn't like you. I finally met my advancement goals and the manager says though I'm good enough for the majors I should wait a little longer. That's fine by me. I can continue lighting up AAA pitchers.

                STORY OF TRIUMPH BELOW

Okay, so in 3 RTTS' last year, I didn't get called up to the Bigs once. I got frustrated with all of them and I ended up retiring after a year or two because all my stuff was declining. I don't know why, but I am a better hitter in 09, even though I can recognize that 08 was easier. Anyway, on to my story.

So in my 4th year, I finally get invited to Spring Training. I did absolutely ****tacular, batting .157, 0 HR, and 3 RBI all in pinch hitting duty. Well, I guess that was good enough for the Pirates, who drafted me as an 18 year old 3 years ago, because they made me their backup Right Fielder, behind Eric Hinske. Opening day comes and goes, and the Braves took it 4-1 while I sat by and watched from the pine.

But in the second game of the year, at PNC Park, they called on me to pinch hit in a 6-0 (losing) game with a runner on in the 6th inning. My first major league at bat is against Jair Jurrjens. I'm thinking, "Okay, don't swing at the first pitch. Just gage him, let a couple go by so you don't make a dumb mistake like you did all Spring".

Here's the pitch, OOOH IT LOOKS GOOD, high and inside fastball, my favorite. **** taking, I'm swinging at this bitch. And that's the story of how in my first at bat, I took the VERY FIRST PITCH OF MY MAJOR LEAGUE CAREER, and deposited it 421 feet away from homeplate, into the cold, unforgiving Pittsburgh night, and cut the defecit to 6-2 (unfortunately for us, that's as far as we'd get).

I'm almost afraid to go and continue, because I feel like I'm going to end up going 0 for my next 20, but I was so excited when it came off the bat. I was like "HOLY **** DON'T EVEN TELL ME THAT THAT'S GONE". I saved like 3 different angles of it, and I'm going to try and put them on YouTube later. I'll post the videos here. Easily the highlight of my MLB The Show career. Now if I could just get these damn Pirates to start winning and get me a ring, if not, I'm headed home to Boston.

What might have been even worse was after that season i refused to sign with Milwaukee. Guess what? They were the only team to offer me a contract. I just don't understand why no one else offered me one. I don't have stellar ratings but i am better than like another 15 guys at 3B in the majors according to the game. At least they are starting me so far in season 5.

I'm hitting around .250 with 4 homers and 11 RBI in about 15 games at AA but I can't seem to complete the walk goals.

I played the entire spring training and walked once. ugghh..

                      Anybody?

I answered my own question last night. It's called....better pitch recognition LOL!! I have an OBP of around .352 in my last 8 games and my BA is 233. in that same span. Drew about 7 walks in 8 games. Thank goodness, cause my manager keeps puttin up OBP and walk goals that I might finally be able to accomplish. I have one game left to get my my OBP up to .360 to make him happy.

Milwaukee has your rights, just like in real life. You are stuck with them until you get 6 years MLB service time, or until they trade you.

I am thinking about being a SS, CF or a SP.

What area's should I work on first? This is my first time with the game so all of this is new to me.

Also when creating a guy it gives you different beard options. Does it change every few games? Like for a while I might have a full beard and then it might be just a goatee?

The areas you should work on are dependent on what position you're going to play. The game will give you some guidance. I can't comment on SP or SS, but as an outfielder your best bet will be to work on batting first, because better hitting will lead to more training points, which can then be distributed more evenly across all areas.

The multiple beard options let you 'stack' different beards on top of each other to give you more options. No alternating.

I see... so the beards don't change over season. Like for say, my first beard choice is a full beard and then the second beard choice is clean. I thought maybe it changed over the course of the season.

I can't seem to hit for nothing. Do you use the left stick or the right stick or both? I am a little confused on that area.
