And something to remember about goals is that you only have to complete over 50% of your goals to make the manager happy. If you have 5, just pick 3 and concentrate on them. It stinks when you only have 4 because you still have to complete 3, but this strategy helps a lot.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I have a RTTS question.
In The Show 08, I noticed that if you had a pitcher and, for example, maxed out all his curveball stats (specifically break) that the pitch was not nearly as good and was noticeably different from when you created a pitcher and maxed out all his curveball stats. Has this changed?
This kept me from playing RTTS last year.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I got the game on Saturday and started my RTTS, got drafted by the Brewers, and about 15 games into spring training.
I'm a CF by the way.
I'm having a dysmal spring training, I'm hitting .285, no HR, 2 RBI's, 2 Runs, 2 2B and that is it. I either get a hit or a strikeout most of the time, and if you get 3 or more strikeouts your managers tends to get really upset...San Francisco 49ers

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Well, just started my RTTS career. I ended up playing 1B for the Orioles. I hit .297 wit 1 HR, 19 RBI, 12 Runs, 6 Doubles, 3 Walks, 8 SO. Not too bad. Signed a 2 year 97,000 contract (was offered 3, but didn't want to commit
).
Assigned to AA Bowie as the backup 1B. I see what everyone is talking about with the controls. Once I got used to the running a bit more, I didn't think it was as bad as some made it out to be, but it was very frustrating at first. Didn't realize that it was COMPLETELY manual after 1B and was picked off while taking a sip of my drink...lol. Having a bit of trouble diving with these running controls too, but I'm getting better.
Also, I have had an annoying issue where there are several plays (ranging 1-3 per game) where my guy seems to get locked about 3 feet from the bag and can't move until he catches the ball. Then I have to scramble to get him to first. Oh well.
Looking forward to this tiding me over a bit until Knight's rosters are done and I can dive into franchise mode.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
So it's been a bit of time since my last update.
I've put my MLB pitcher on a leave of absence for right now. I really wanted to try out creating a hitter, so that meant I needed to focus a little more time on him.
My pitcher is doing well though. Still #5 SP for the Mets in my Fourth Season. I'm finally getting to a point where I can make it through innings without giving up a hit. Come the 4th inning or so it's a given that I'm going to give up a hit. I haven't done a shutout in the majors yet, but do come away with 7 IP and 1 or 2 ER's. I'm pleased with that. I still need to get some of my attributes up first before I'm promoted to a higher spot in the roatation. My numbers are good enough, but they don't like my attributes.
As for my new hitter...
I created a Power hitting Lefty who plays leftfield an 3B although I've seen an occasional 1B. I started ST hot. I was hitting .400+ with a HR within the first week. But I quickly cooled off and ended with .200- and with only one HR. I thought I had a chance early on to get a starting nod in AA, but quickly realized I'm only worthly of a backup role. Sure enough that's what happened. I got drafted by the Rockies and am the backup LF. I'm 4/5 for organization rank and 5/65 for league rank.
My season started off bad, really bad. I started remember how some of you said even all-star was a struggle for hitting. I was hitting .125 avearge with half as many SO as AB. I decided I need to change my difficulty. It seemed to pay off.
I'm not into the month of May. I'm hitting .346 with 2 HR, 16 RBI. I just got promoted to starting LF in AA and it was about time. As a backup it seemed I was playing everyday either at LF or 3B. The managers think I'm talented enough for even AAA right now but don't want to move me up for the risk of a flop on my part. My contact and power are high 40's right now. Visin is as well. I have to work on fielding as my attributes are still at 'F', but that will come in AAA. I've come close to many HR's but all come up a bit short. But I'm leading the team with 2B because of. My guy is slow as heck so I might need to work on that just a bit.
I've given up on baserunning. I just let the computer sim it. I'm sorry, but the controls were just too fustrating for me. I had enough of it and figured my guy is not meant for baserunning anyway, so I'll just let the computer sim it for now. Maybe once I get better speed and such, then I'll turn it back on.
My guy is on a two year deal so I don't for see any trades this first year. I do see a call up to AAA coming later in the year, but I'm actually hoping not. I want to be able to work on my hitting more before I do.PSN: guitarchitect7

So, can we say that completing 50% = 100%?And something to remember about goals is that you only have to complete over 50% of your goals to make the manager happy. If you have 5, just pick 3 and concentrate on them. It stinks when you only have 4 because you still have to complete 3, but this strategy helps a lot.
As long as the manager responds with a happy comment, you have a better chance to be called up/start/etcComment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I also want to add that I think the manager's reaction is based on the quality of player you are. I've gone a couple months of not completing any goals and never gotten punishment for it.
It's only a theory.PSN: guitarchitect7

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
in Road to the Show,
what happens when your teammates bat? does it just skip to your next at bat or do you get to have like a dugout view of the game?

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
For those of you that are 2Bs or SSs, does the computer get a lot of steals on you. The cpu steals like crazy on me and it is rare if the catcher gets the ball to me in time. I know that if I don't cut towards the bag fast enough the catcher will lob the ball to second so not to overthrow me which gives the cpu an easy stolen base, but even when I get to the base real fast the runner is hardly ever thrown out. Do you guys see this too? I just wonder if my catcher sucks or if I'm just not getting to the bag in time.
