      Batting Practice Bug People.

If you encounter this, keep playing your RTTS. You won't be able to do the batting training session for a while, but it ends up correcting itself later along your season.

I had this problem happen to me on May 18 in my RTTS which at the time put my RTTS thread on hold. Here's what happened:

The first time I noticed the problem, I noticed that my batting coach was talking to a "floating bat" moving around and my guy was just leaving the batting cages. The bat would move to the batter's box then it would cut away to the batting practice but nothing would happen. The pitcher just stood there and there was no one at home plate.

I then went and simmed to see if this problem continued to the next batting session, then sure enough, it did. However, I simmed it a little bit more and my guy got injured so I had to sim to the end of the season. The next season it was working fine.

However, I did not save that file and I reloaded my RTTS and continued playing. I skipped the May 18 batting practice because it was the bugged one, then I skipped the batting session after that, knowing that it was bugged from my experiment. The batting practice after that one went fine though, no bugs at all. I don't know what causes it, but just keep playing your RTTS.

By the way, don't just skip to bolded words in this post. If you did, READ it, if not, proceed on. I did save an extra backup file which I do for each week I play through. I alternate between save files when I reach each week checkpoint, saving on one after each game/day and then saving both after a week's worth of games (example, from May 3 to May 9). It might help prevent this, but I'm not totally sure yet.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

I created a starting pitcher's RTTS to get my mind off of hitting for a little bit because I was in a really bad slump, and I'm really liking it. I was drafted by the Royals, which I'm very cool with. I really like their uniforms and stadium, plus it's a nice young team, where hopefully when/if I eventually get the call to the bigs, I'll have a chance to shine.

I am 7-5 with a 3.25 ERA, 77 strikeouts in like 107 IP. Not too bad I guess. I made the All Star team, and I just had my best 3 game stretch so far, one of them was a complete game shutout, which I got 595 points for. Then 2 games later, I went 8.1 innings of shutout, 4 hit ball, and I gave up a double and a single to ruin the shutout and I got the hook. I still got the win though because we were up 4-1.

Then after those three games, my next game I went 4.1 innings, only giving up one run and they pulled me for whatever reason. I had runners on 2nd and 3rd, but 4.1 innings? I don't think my pitch count was that high, but I had been pitching alot of innings as of late.

I think I might try getting back at my hitting one later on tonight. I'm a RF in the Pirates' system, I've made a few posts in this thread about my progressions. I skip baserunning and fielding. Baserunning because my guy is slow as hell anyways, and fielding I just don't feel like doing. I'll do both when/if I get called up to the majors, though.

I was traded from the Brewers to the Marlins (both AA) about a month and a half into my first year. Best thing that could have happened to me, apparently. I started off my career really hot, but then had a cold streak that would make Corey Hart jealous. Lasted about a month, then was traded while I was still cold. But then not too long after the trade we played a series against my old team and I was red hot. Now I'm on a 15-game hitting streak.

Congrats on your hitting streak! Can't get enough of the RTTS feature... too much fun but hopefully I'll make it to the bigs sometime soon! Playing for the Cubs organization might make that tough for me.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

So I'm still in my first season. I picked it up after my first 2 starts in AA after a bunch of relief work. My ERA was 2.71 and I WAS(key word here) on fire. I failed my goals and my manager said that it was okay, just don't make a habit of it.

I then proceed to have two absolutely terrible outings, and some of my ratings were decresing. Some of it can be contributed to the horrible fielding, like the outfielder diving for the ball and it rolling all the way to the wall and since it's not an error the runs that score are earned. Then the infielders proceed to prolong 60% of the innings by making errors.

The next start I was determined to get back on track and I did. I had a shut out through 4, then I had little trouble. I gave up two solo home runs(I knew I shouldn't have listened to the suggestion). I ended up pitching 6 innings, 2 earned runs, and 4 K's.

The last game I played I was confident coming into the game, but that didn't last too long. My team finally gave me some runs(4), and I had to F it all up. I fly through the first inning, no problems. The second inning, I won't even give full detail but I gave up 7 runs while getting one out. My ERA is now at 3.94.

I then get a message from my manager after I fail another set of goals that says that this is the final warning or he'll alter my career path for good. I wish they had an option to tell the manager and to get some players that have at least some talent. I won't shed one tear if they trade me, anything to get me on a better team. But then I'll be expected to perform better

A side note about the goals, I hate how they tell me to improve bunting every single goal period, I haven't gotten 1 AB all year since I'm in the AL.

Depending on the detail of creating a player, I think it would be really cool to see someone do a Yu Darvish RTTS. I would, but I do not own a PS3. That alone should convince someone to do this. I own a 360, and I'm posting on the Show forums.

How does the Darvish RTTS sound? Any takers?

My hit streak ended at 21.

I'm a little frustrated right now. I was just on an awesome streak and I still had no where close to the training points needed to meet my goals, not to mention any spare points to put where I want them. Needed to improve my fielding, arm acc, and arm str. Ended up putting 750+ points into fielding and accuracy combined and didn't even touch strength.

Thank God I was hot or I would have been screwed. I guess I'll be waiting until spring ball now to put some points where I want them.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that you don't have training goals during the post-season, and that you get more (or less) points than usual.

In game 3 of my first post-season series (AA), my team trailing 0-2 in the series and up by 1 in the game, I had the opportunity to redeem an earlier strike-out. Bases loaded, 2 outs, I was asked to drive the run in. I turned 1 into 4 with my first grand slam. It was awesome.

I was disappointed to see you didn't get bonus points for hitting a grand slam - just the homerun and RBIs. Oh well, still an awesome game.

Same here ... streak ended at 21 last night. I am already on another 5 game. The reason my streak ended is because I am actually getting walks now (got 2 the game my streak ended). I had 0 walks until a few games ago, now I have 7 in 5 games.

And someone earlier in the thread said you need to get 50% of your goals completed to "pass" ... I got 3 out of 5, and my coach was disappointed, but he let it slide.

Does anyone else have the coach breathing down their back. 1st and 3rd, the steal sign was put on (I didn't know that meant suicide squeeze) ... I didn't run, lost 10 points, and the coach chewed me out. If I don't meet the in game goals like reach base safely or drive the run in, I get a nasty email after the game. I am #1 in avg, hits, triples #3 in doubles, #12 in RBI, #10 in runs ... Get off my BACK!

I want to say thanks for those discussing the Batting practice bug. I did not play last night, but will keep my eye out going forward. I know I did two sessions yesterday though and both accured that error, so fingers crossed that the next one straightens itself out. If'ts funny because I think my first glitch was around May 18th as well.

I'm currently the back up SS for the Blue Jays AAA team.
In my first year i had 160 ABs because of 2 serious injuries that cut short my first year. I finished .282/1/18 as a back up infielder. At the beginning of my first season i had a 9 game hit streak before suffering a fractured wrist and being put on the 60 day DL. When i returned i played about 10 more games and suffered a torn hamstring and landed back on the 60 day DL. This ultimately ended my season.
At the beginning of my second season i wasn't invited to ST but made it up to AAA as a back up SS. Throughout the season i have been starting around the infield and over the last month and half i have been performing well above expectations. I currently have a 26 game hit streak going. I am still the back up SS but that doesn't matter because i have started more games at 1st, 2nd and 3rd than i have at SS.
I am currently batting .342/0/20. I am up to the beginning of June 2010.

The 12-6 is wicked, but won't be effective unless you dump training points into it. 2-Seam fastball or Cutter ... same thing, you will need to dump points into the break or it will be just another 4 seam.

That being said ... 2-Seam fastballs are pretty darn sweet.

Would love to make Yu Darvish except for 2 things:

                                1. It is impossile to make an Asian looking player much less a Japanese/Iranian
                                2. Did I mention it's impossible to make an Asian? And I have tried. For 3 years. Being Asian myself...
