Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Hey Nem (or anyone) have you noticed on Legend that the CPU fielders seem naturally faster than your own guys? When I lowered CPU fielding speed down to 0 the game played great for me offensively.
But on defense it seemed like my guys were running in the mud.
So not sure if I should bump it back up which might cut down on my XBH but help me while in the field on defense.Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Errors, ability to pull the ball, the left and right stick seem more responsive when hitting, more walks for both sides, the animation where the ball ends up skipping into RF when thrown "around the horn" after and out seems to be gone, less epic 12-15 pitch at bats vs, CPU due to excessive foul balls...
And that's just after a few partial games to get sliders to the point where I'm starting to like them...
I'm just hoping that there's also a pickoff at first once in a while in this year's game, b/c I've yet to see that in previous versions...Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
I posted this in the roster thread...but I really really wonder if this has happened to anyone else, cause I really wanna play my game tonight LOL
So I set up my ps2 slim online, and d/l the update...now my menu selects itself during gameplay, and batters constantly show bunt...I've switched controllers and it didn't help...it looks like buttons are pressing themselves...anyone else have this? is there a fix? or do I delete the file and try again?Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Well, I officially stink at this game, lol.
2-9 with the Mets. Lost my last 6. Playing on All-Star with only a few slider tweaks.
My 3-4-5 batters have a combined 2 HR's and 10 RBIs. Ramon Castro, Ryan Church have more HR's than Wright; Reyes has him doubled.
Santana is 0-3 with an ERA over 7.
A couple of things:
-I think I'm going to turn API off. Too many times, they call for pitches right in the hot zones of the opponents. For example, in my last game against the Brewers, Braun hit a low-outside FB to LF for a HR. Next AB, the catcher calls for the same pitch, same location. I threw it, just to see what would happen and guess what? Braun jacked it for another HR.
-I had pitch speed down to 1. That was too low as I was swinging early at everything. I've raised it up to 3 but might go up another to 4. Only thing I don't like is that when you start raising pitch speed, it's harder to differentiate between fastballs, curves and changeups.
Do you think not playing part of Spring Training has an adverse affect on your team? I skipped ST b/c I had played over 10 exhibition games but man, my team is off to such a slow start it's killing me.
Still, despite the terrible record, I'm enjoying the game very much.Currently Playing:

Yeah...I turned off API a long time ago in The Show 08. I've been much better ever since.Well, I officially stink at this game, lol.

I never understood why someone would trust the CPU anyway.
As far as your season is going...just keep truckin', its a long haul and there is plenty of time left...
151 games left. Plenty of time.Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
One thing I dislike about fielding...sometimes a ball will be hit close enough for your infielder to get a glove on it but the game will default you as an outfielder and it will cause the ball to go right by an infielder who could have definitely made a play.Comment

I agree, I've had this happen a few times already(though not too many times), it's quite annoying when it happens.Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Okay so I am thinking about picking this up to supplement my baseball needs. Something about MLB 2k9 just is not satisfying me. Can someone just give me some impressions about this game. I have never played any in the series. What does this version do well. Does the ball after a homerun roll around, or does it disappear? How is the presentation? How is the mode where you make your player and take him through the minors, is it worth it? And most importantly, how is the gameplay?
Thanks so much guys.YNWAComment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Just bought the game today as I had to return my 2k9 rental and I am very impressed by how polished the gameplay is out of the box! Very entertaining and I was ecstatic to see that the fantasy draft logic is finally fixed and playable ala mvp! No more teams drafting 3 closers or using their top two picks on second basemen! The only negative is the graphics when you compare them to thed 360 and ps3.Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
I'm impressed with how well tuned this game is out of the box. Last game I struck out 7 times and walked 6 times which would have probably never happend in last years game. Pitching is just flat out fun this year...I actually fear hitters...I actually walk hitters. I'm playing on default Legend mode and everything just feels good. If I were to adjust anything...I might lower solid hits a little and the raise the error sliders.Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
There is collision detection on homeruns. Go into homerun derby and it will really show that off. Presentation is off the charts, you wont be disappointed in that. I dont play RTTS that much so I cant really comment on it. The gameplay is realistic...the pitcher/batter duel is great but the fielding leaves a lot to desire imo.Okay so I am thinking about picking this up to supplement my baseball needs.
