re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I've seen some really bad trades by the CPU.
F-Mart for Travis Miller
Madison Bumgardner for Leo Nunez
Buster Posey for Mike Pelfry
These trades wouldn't be as bad if A prospects weren't GUARANTEED all-stars.Note to self: BUY MADDEN 12*
*there are considerable franchise upgrades

re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I ended up having to start my franchise over, for some stupid reason I ended up deleting all of my work. Oh well, I was only in May so I can make that back up pretty quickly I hope.
Anyway I decided to take a different approach this time, instead of giving the Braves a complete makeover I thought I would take the more realistic approach and take the current Braves team into the season and then see what deals I needed to make to improve the team.
I did look around though to see what deals I could make prior to the '09 season that would give me my best shot to win the division without hurting the future to much. I tried to think about how it would affect the team I'm dealing with as well so this is what I came up with.
I sent Derek Lowe, Casey Kotchman, and Freddie Freeman to Detroit for Miguel Cabrera and two pitching prospects (one with a B potential and the other a C...both under 22 years old)
I figured with Tim Hudson on my roster I could use one of my starting pitchers in a trade and since Cabrera is signed for 7 years there was no sense in me holding on to Freeman. Detroit gets a very good starting pitcher, a 1st baseman to replace Cabrera and a really good 1st base prospect.
I don't know if Detroit would ever do this but it made a lot of sense from my perspective.
Outside of that trade though I'm not going to make any until I see how the season goes, I'll update my trading block as I go along and see what happens.
This might be more fun to play it this way than acquiring the Braun's, Hawpe's, and Tejada's of the world anyway....we'll see.Comment

re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
The best Trade I have ever made was a two fold trade. I am a Braves fan, and for some reason i cannot pitch with Mike Gonzalez. So i unloaded him, and this is how it went down:
Phillies get:
Mike Gonzalez, Gregor Blanco, B potential SS
Braves get:
Ryan Howard
then i turned right around and i did this trade:
Phillies get:
Casey Kotchman, C Potential RP
Braves Get:
Brad Lidge
I think i made out like a Bandit in this one. I was shocked to see them do both of these trades.Comment

re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
Before the start of my 2010 year (Blue Jays), I shipped Alex Rios to Pittsburgh for Nate McLouth straight up, and what an improvement (I disliked Rios and he was garbage, and in PIT he's also batting just barely above the Mendoza line haha. McLouth is hitting .283 with 13 HR, 29 RBI, 19 SB ). I signed Victor Martinez to a big contract but I ended up trading him to Florida for Hanley Ramirez since I didn't re-sign Scutaro, and because in my contract it says I need a 40/40 player. Wells is too slow, and I assumed they wanted me to do this with Rios, except Rios' so-called 'developing power' doesn't exist, in real life or in-game. Hanley is on-pace with 2 weeks to go before the All-Star break with 17 HR, 20 SB.
It wasn't a trade, but the biggest surprise for me was Josh Willingham, an off-season signing. I was going to use him as a platoon player and then just sub him for my under-durable rookie LF, but he's batting .311 with 23 HR (100th of his career) and 57 RBI.Comment

re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
In my first year with the Braves I was out of the race by All-Star break and decided to trade Glavine away for one last chance at the playoffs. I got two young pitchers that had B potential. I just knew he would retire. Then that off season he was there as a free agent. I thought about signing him but spent money on Matt Holiday. He (Glavine) went to the Indians for 2 seasons. Then around the end of May of his second season he (Glavine) was put on waivers and I picked him up. I used him in long relief.
By this time I had 1 of the guys I got in my rotation and the other was ready to call-up. I made it to the World Series but got beat 4-3 by the Yank's. Glavine had all three wins. It was a home run derby. I could not believe that I got 2 guys for him then he didn't retire and he still ended his career in Atlanta.Relax, it's just a video game!Comment

re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I'm still undecided about this trade I made (I estimated number ratings for each player on my team so that's where I got the overalls)
Royals (CPU) Get:
SP Jeff Samardzija - Around a 77 overall, 24 yrs old with B potential
RP Aaron Heilman - Around a 79 overall, 30 yrs old with B potential
1B/RF/LF Micah Hoffpauir - Around a 64 overall (Good hitter below average defense), 29 yrs old with C potential
Cubs (Me) Get:
2B/UTIL Mark Teahen - Around an 88 overall, 27 yrs old with B potential
We (the Cubs) have been looking at Teahen irl for a while now so I figured it was realistic, plus Fontenot went down in June for 2 months so I figured it was time to pull the trigger. I kinda fear that I didn't give up enough to get him and I tend to play a realistic franchise in terms of transactions. Any feedback would be appreciatedCubs

Anyway, that looks like a fair deal to me.

re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
Ya I've been eyeballing the ratings mainly, his offense is above average but I think it's his arm and fielding ability that make him that highly rated. He was a little less than Dempster who I pegged at around a 91 so 88 looked about where he was, but he is up there in rating none the less.
I'm pretty happy with this, the Royals plugged "The Shark" in their starting rotation so it gives them a pretty good pitcher with good upside at the bottom of their rotation. The move helps sure up their bullpen and they get a average/slightly above average left handed power bat in Hoffpauir (I edited his ratings so he has more power and less contact)Cubs
