re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's late in the game)

    1. Have a hidden "baseball knowledge/intelligence" attribute for all players. The ones with a higher rating can potentially be hired as managers after they retire.

    2. Fix the names of created rookies so that the audio matches with the actual name.

    3. More randomness in the created rookies - currently most of them have the Generic 1 batting stance, no batting gloves (not realistic), low socks style, and no accessories.

    4. More options when creating players, such as situational accessories. This means that you can have the option of wearing different things depending on the weather or time of day the game is (2K had this).

    5. Have the announcers talk more. Currently they only comment on things that happen. Let them chatter away during an at bat about the player's history, background, trivial facts. I know this is a lot more work, but other sports games have this.

    6. Random movement. Currently, all batting stances, defensive moves, pitching windups, etc. are all pre-recorded movements, so everyone looks the same. In real life, there's a lot more randomness in movements. I know batting stances are very similar, but they're not always doing the same thing. If you create random movement and animation, it will bring a lot more life to the game.

    7. True 1080p

    8. More involved mound visits. I like the quick menu, but let the player have more options when choosing a mound visit. Some ideas: choose who to send out there (manager, pitching coach, trainer, etc - each one has a different effect on the pitcher). Choose what to do on the mound. Also have an option where you can just send the catcher to the mound to calm down the pitcher.

    9. When skipping a half or full inning during a game, don't automatically replace the pitcher. Sometimes I'm playing and I skip the bottom of the 8th so I can pitch in the top of the 9th, the computer automatically subs my pitcher while I'm trying to go for a shutout...annoying.

    10. A better pitching meter. I liked the one used in MLB 2K7 - it was an expanding target, and when it contracted, you had to press the button at the right point. If people don't like that, the classic meter can be an option. Also, the current meter is in a bad location and is too small when using the pitcher's view.

    11. When creating players, allow all audio names be available for first and last names (basically, no restriction on the audio names).

    12. People have said this already: collision detection!

    13. I don't know if this is just me, but it seems like when playing against the computer, they can pick you off really easily. In real life, pick offs are not that common, especially with good base runners. For some reason my base runners are caught napping a good 50% of the time. And this is only with an aggressive (1 tap) lead.

    14. The stealing system needs to be improved (maybe even baserunning). Take cues from MVP Baseball 05. There was no need in fidgeting with the thumb buttons. All base running/stealing was controlled with the shoulder buttons and directional pad. It's annoying when both the power swing and 3rd base runner buttons are the same, and similarly the bunt and 1st base runner buttons. I use the classic controls scheme, this might be different in the new scheme.

    15. In franchise mode, allow contract extensions. This is pretty self-explanatory. MVP Baseball had this. Basically, you can renegotiate a new contract at any time.

    16. Add the A minor league.

    17. The off-season contract negotiations are ok, but can be improved. When I offer a player a contract, I have no idea what he is thinking. Sometimes he'll just not sign it until months later. Have the players give feedback such as shorter terms, more money, etc.

    18. Fix the conditions for retirement. Some players who have the potential to set all time career records retire right before they get to that mark. For example, in one franchise mode, Manny Ramirez had 750 career home runs, but decides to retire at the age of 37 or 38. He can play one more season and try to get 12 more home runs to tie Bonds. Also, for some reason A-Rod retired early; I didn't notice until later, but from what people have been saying, it's probably because of the poor free agent market.

    19. Fix the camera during plays. Sometimes the camera doesn't pan properly, so while I'm running bases, I can't tell if I should advance or not because I can't tell where the ball is and/or if the fielder is going to get to the ball in time. This is not a huge issue, as it mostly happens on throwing errors. Example: I hit a grounder to the shortstop, he throws it high and past the 1st baseman, the ball bounces off the wall and goes into foul territory near right field. The camera doesn't show where the first baseman and right fielders are, so I can't tell if I should run to second or stay at first.

    20. It would help if there can be an option to have an indicator that tells you where a ball is going to be after it bounces off a wall. I know this is hard to tell in real life, but most MLB outfielders have good judgment when it comes to these things. Maybe more elite fielders can have a more accurate indicator. Example: If a ball is hit off the green monster, have an indicator of where the ball might go. A better fielder would have a more accurate indicator. This isn't just to make it easier on defense, but to make the game more realistic. Jason Bay, for example, can have a more accurate indicator because it's his home stadium.

    21. Allow the option to argue calls. The MVP system was great, the 2K7 system was ok. Also, allow batters to charge the mound. Consequently, let the commissioner issue fines and suspensions if things get too heated.

    22. Fix check swing appeals to 1st/3rd base coaches. It's very off, and they call strikes when it was obviously a check swing and vice versa. This might be an animation issue, but fix it so they are calling it right (at least most of the time).

This is all I can think of for now.

Do you have some info you can share?

Wish I could, but I'm not going to bother the devs as they are in full throttle. Seeing how they worked last year (when visiting the studio) I'm not about to butt in. They come here, listen to all the gripes/suggestions/bugs/glitches make their plan and go to work. I've had a quick conversation with Brian Ma a while back, but if I told you he'd have to kill me.

doesnt adding needless crap to franchise mode take valuable space away from other more imperitive gameplay addition.

-i want to see a new pitching interface. no displayed strikezone and no meter refined guess pitch etc.

-baserunning. i play in classic mode. and to me the new style is not good at all

As fantastic as MLB 09 is, I really can't think of many ways that it differed from 08, except I see Mr Met on the dugout, and am playing in citi field.

The most glaring issues in 08 were still there in 09, namely the throwing meter being broken, and no collision detection.

I wish less focus was spent on player individuality. I can't speak for everyone but I skip past batter walkups and stuff. And there's so many hundreds of players in the league that for all but a very small handful of them, I wouldn't be able to recognize their batting stance or pitching motion.

One thing I'd like to see is non-routine plays in the field actually feeling non routine. If there is a high popup in the middle of the day with the sun overhead, the game should switch to a sort of first person view, where the left analog controls the players feet, and the right analog controls the glove, and you have to press R3 to close your glove on the ball at the right time, or something.

I think there are a lot of great ideas in this thread. Highlight shows and editing potential would be great (editing potential more of a must though). I just hope to god that SCEA does not listen to the people clamoring for changes to the hitting system. I have never got more satisfaction, out of a videogame, then when hitting in '09'. It is difficult, frustrating and rewarding....everything hitting should be. If people are looking for an easier way to hit then there should be an easy hitting difficulty setting or something. Just PLEASE do not alter hitting next year! Pretty please?

When creating or editing a pitcher, an option for delivery speed would be great. I've seen some close deliveries but may be going to fast. Example, i can select Cliff Lee as a delivery but it set it to 50% so its the same motion just slower. Have increments of 50,75,and 125%. The last for guys who have the exact or close to same motion as another pitcher but execute it faster.

I like to see new commentary, maybe removing a guy and put Harold Renyolds in (i'm a fan of the guy)...Also idk if this have ever been brought up or done, but i'd like to see create-a-stance/delivery added to the game...feet placement/hand height/bat placement/bend the knees--also you could do numerous pitching motion....

Change the whole hit trajectory. It's the same hits over and over. Or just go back to The Show 08's hitting, that was the best.

All I would like is the ability to approve every trade made by the CPU and the ability to talk guys out of retirement.

re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's late in the game)

I haven't played 09, and haven't played 08 for a month since my ps3 got stolen. But I am so excited about a new ps3 and 2010. I have a few ideas for both franchise mode and RTTS.

                                Franchise:
                                • Stadium/City: Much like Madden and what has been said before. But I'd also like the ability to decide where the stadium is built in each city. Decide if you build in the heart of the city of move to a location a few miles out of town.
                                • Training/Day Off: I know this is in NCAA Football, but it would be nice to decided to have the players train for a few hours on a day off, or just travel and relax in the hotel. Maybe include the ability to run certain players in some drills like BP, shaggin some balls etc...
                                • Arbitration: Self-explanitary...
                                • Trades: Include trading of picks, and add ability to include more players. Also would be nice to see some players who are 'untouchable'. Like Pujols and Lincecum etc. Not like can never be traded. But maybe only can be traded if team is struggling, say 20-30 games under .500 or if they are in final year of contract and team is used up a heap of the budget. So only traded for financial relief.
                                RTTS:
                                • Animations: Instead of just imitating a current or past MLB player, be able to design your own custom swing, running style, flair, and home run trot. Maybe create your guy to be casual in the field and look super good, but may make some sloppy errors. Or give your guy a nice bat flick if he gets a hold of one, or something as he crosses the plate. Could even go to the stage of guys blowing kisses if hit a HR on mother's day etc.
                                • Bullpen: If you got a MRP or a CP you should need to get loose in the 'pen before coming into the game. Warm up your way. Maybe you players is extremely durable and only needs a few throws to get it going. Or maybe you need to get up for 15 pitches to get in the zone. For example you are just a lefty specialist playing against the Brewers. The game starts with the phone ringing and manager saying, "The Prince is up later 3rd this inning, make sure Morgan gets loose, he will be facing him."
You then start getting loose by throwing just fastballs to the catcher. The more and more you throw you unlock your pitches one by one. After that the ability of each improves to what your attributes are. Leave it to late and you might not be able to throw a splitter or it's not completely warm and it doesn't have speed/accuracy. Rush it to much and ready too early he will lose stamina and some velocity etc.. Just something like that to give you more influence in a game. Instead of just coming in completely warm everytime.
Sorry I didn't read through all of this thread. If I copied other peoples idea, I meant no harm. Would love to know what people think...
