bohdi, I agree 100% on the crowd intensity.
that was the one SUPER SUPER improvement over last year.
I was shocked how awesome it was.

    unreal.
then again, the PS# cord had me directly in front of a 52 INCHER LOL

Couple of things, that stuck out to me. First, thanks to SCEA for adding fans in the RF standing room only section at Camden Yards. I felt like such a geek when as I was watching a guy play it with my GF beside me and they showed a cut scene of the 2B I saw a bunch more people standing around in the RF section. I was like "I made that happen, with my post on OS!" She wasn't impressed.

Second I know this isn't the final build, but in the baserunning window, the players didn't have their name or numbers on the back. Not that is an big deal, but it stood out me.

Having said that I only played one inning and can't wait to play the game on Tuesday.

Not sure what cosmetic issues you mean, but I posted earlier in this thread I was unimpressed with the graphics and it looked almost worse than 09 to me. BUT I got my retail copy today and can happily report it looks better than 09 and what I saw in the Best Buy kiosk.

I think it mostly had to do with being so close to the TV in Best Buy and the settings for contrast/sharpness being maxed out there.

I also would like to know where it was confirmed the BB version wasn't the final build.

It probably wasn't the final built...hell it didn't even have a CD label on the damn thing!

Yhea I noticed that right away too.

I also could not get the pickoff system to work at all. Just could not throw a pickoff, was only able to step off. But the controler I was using at the Schaumburg,IL Best Buy was just nasty, the start button was messed up so I wasn't able to mess around with any of the settings.

I have been at Best Buy the last 4 nights for over an hour each time. And somehow, she does not think I am insane. The employees do! But oh well.

so here are my many 2 cents on things that stood out to me:

                    • The lighting is amazing. Makes 09 look like a toy. Everything pops more, looks more realistic and has the feel for the time of day/night you are playing in.

                    • Playing a game against another guy there at Yankee Stadium, we watched as inning by inning the batter was further into the shadows as they creeped across home plate. The shadows cast by the clouds across the field were such a great touch.

                    • the customizable gloves, bats, shoes and gear all make a HUGE impact to individualize the players. Such a welcome feature.

                    • LOVE the livelier ball. Eating up infielders, CC took one off the shin, one batter went to the ground on one of his foot, and watching it ricochet off walls and dugouts (as players scatter) gives it such a realistic feel.

                    • The crowd was INTENSE. They got lively at the right moments, and were deafening with 2 outs and 2 strikes on a batter. The roll call and seeing Jeter acknowledge the crowd was great.

                    • Noticed some great improvements to stances and especially deliveries. Some are still the old clunky ones (Lackey comes to mind), but a lot got a major upgrade.

                    • Playoff atmosphere is probably one of the features I am most excited about, and was not disappointed by what I saw. The thundersticks in LA were LOUD and you could see a sea of red as the camera showed the replay of my guy striking out. Its not just cosmetic, as the distraction of the sticks and the increasing noise make concentrating more difficult. (or better depending on the home field advantage). The towels were well done, the cowbells in TB...all so great. Love the new playoff logos on the fields and also on replays. All in all, SO much better than 09. You feel like you are in the playoffs.

                    • One special note...the lighting in Tropicana Field is fantastic! This was my least favorite stadium to play at in 09 as everything felt lifeless and looked the most like a video game. Now it may be one of my favorites. It looks so much like a live broadcast with the lighting, reflections and all.

                    • The homerun derby was WAY more fun than I thought it would be. Watching the flight of the ball into the stands and fans go after them was great. Replays of the players admiring the shots are cool, but definitely will get repetitive and it would have been nice to see them alternate maybe between that and a replay of the homerun (which they dont show)

                    • Most stadiums look so much better, some more than others. I read that this was an earlier build, so there may be more to come, but as of now I noticed some parks like Fenway were lacking some important features (animated Citgo-type sign, manual scoreboard, new ads, etc). Saw some fireworks in appropriate parks, and they were well done!

                    • to wrap up...the game took a HUGE leap forward graphically. While gameplay does feel similar, I think its a shortcut to say it hasnt changed but its true that maybe only intense baseball fans will appreciate the difference....balls off the pitcher, taking the catcher or umpire out, hitting one off the shin, groundballs with "eyes" and bad bounces off of infielders, liners bouncing around the outfield wall so the runner stretches it into a double...all make major impacts on the game.

my one and only "complaint" is something that I noticed in my first game, then gave it a few more days of playing to see if it would really be an issue for me. It has to do with the RTP, which I totally understand is really a transitional feature this year, meaning they want to improve on it and make it more a part of next years game. When it shows up, it is breathtaking. TRULY looking like a broadcast and i was just standing there with this huge grin on my face. But its not that frequent (in the build I played) and the old cutscenes that flash to white first are still all over. The part where this really gets to me is on homeruns...where I really want to see RTP in action, meaning following the runner all around the bases and perhaps cutting to a replay of the homerun or the pitcher dejected...again, similar to a real broadcast. In big moments, to hit one out and see the screen cut to the white transition and then my batter jogging home is kind of a letdown.
                    - If you saw cut-scenes, you were not in real-time. You have to go into the menu and actually schange it to RTP. It defaults to broadcast presentation. When something happens in RTP, all you will see are different camera angles of the field while things are going on. Only break from from the field comes with replays

But thats about all I can really complain about. The game was amazing.

You were probably doing the same thing I was doing using the right trigger to try to make a pick-off, when in actuality the pick-off is controlled this year with the left trigger and the buttons depending on which bases u want to throw to. The right bumper is still the step-off the rubber button so that's why u were successful with that. Before I realized I was hitting the wrong button I would step-off with the right bumper then throw to the correct bases. Just watch the pick-off system video as they go over the controls in that video. After the day that I couldn't figure out the pick-off system I came home and watched the video so that the next time I would play I would be able to figure it out. But just to let u know, it wasn't broken. Hope that helps. Later

Sweet. I'm glad they got that in. Did you notice any other enhancements at Camden? Is the out-of-town scoreboard still outdated or is it now the shiny new LCD screen? And I heard the hotel didn't get added, is that true?

At least something was updated! It'll be nice to see fans in the standing room area.
