Re: Played game today at Bestbuy (Plus Question)
Wondering if Padres 2B Matt Antonelli will be in any updates. He was a former top prospect who came up in 08 but wasn't in the majors at any point last season. I played and looked at Best Buy and he wasn't in there.Comment

Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!
Lol, no, that's not right at all.
Real Time Presentation (RTP), refers to the fact that everything you see is happening real time, aka no more prerendered cutscenes. The old Broadcast presentation included tons of cutscenes that, while very cool, sometimes were off because they were just cutscenes.
The new camera view this year IS called Broadcast, but it is in refence to something completely different... the view you see while fielding.
Also, for those of you going to Best Buy to play, you have to MANUALLY go into the options and CHANGE the game to RTP, as SCEA (for some odd reason), chose to leave their old presentation as the default.
There are two RTP choices as well: RTP w/Replay, and RTP. They are exactly what you think.Comment

Just got home from Best Buy where they had this. Man Kyle Blanks looks awesome in this game, he has the fro sticking out under his hat and helmet.
The pitching meter was a little different, i was using Mat Latos and I had to press X before it got to the mark unlike previous versions. Almost on its way back down I had to press it.Comment

- Just played it today with Real-time and replays. All broadcast elements are in. Official scoring, umpires, temperature and current conditions, and more. All dropped and scrolled from the score box up topComment

I went to Best Buy again earlier tonight, and the disc simply wasn't in the system. I asked three employees about of it, and all of them said they would ask someone. None of the three returned to me. At least the TV looked to be outputting 1080p this time as opposed to 480p.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Yeah, I have a feeling I'm not going to like that this year. I only tried it once, but it was an issue. I don't think they should do that simply to make it more "challenging" to hit the spot. That's like making you play Operation without touching the sides while they're shaking your arm vigorously.

Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!
I own both a PS3 and 360 system. My pre-order for the game was done weeks ago. Here is my honest opinion after playing the full version at Best Buy for about 45 minutes to an hour.
The game is solid although playing on Best Buy's TVs doesn't do the game's graphics justice. But in all honesty, the game felt too familiar to 09. Even with the real-time presentation on, I just wasn't say wow to myself.
After playing the 2K10 demo, I have really, really grown to enjoy both the pitching and hitting using the analog. When I switch between it and the Show's buttons, 2K10's system gives me more control and satisfaction, especially with the pitching. At first, I didn't like 2K10's pitching. But the more I practiced, the more I perfected the different gestures and really enjoyed the control and satisfaction of strike outs based upon my concentration to hit my spots.
I also like the stats layout in 2K10. I also believe that I will enjoy 2K10's dynamic commentary, something which I really enjoy in NBK 2K10. I literally am already bored with the commentary in the Show.
The Show's commentary can't compete with this year's 2K10s. Also with people like myself that enjoy the use of the analog for pitching and batting, the Show needs to provide an additional option to choose between the two such as what 2K10 has done this year.
I honestly believe the Show has lost some ground this year, but because it has been the King of Baseball for so many years, it's getting perhaps some overrated props based upon its history vs 2K10s history and its strong backing of PS3 followers.
I do believe the Show will be the more fine tuned game this year, especially graphics wise. But as far as feeling I'm paying $65.00 for a solid baseball game that will quench my thirst for something new, (dynamic commentary,up-to-date cumulative stats) and different (analog pitching/batting), I'm going to make the switch to MLB 2K10 this year.
I'm sure I will pick up the Show later down the line when the price drops, but the Kiosk experiment zapped any excitement I had to buy the Show this year right out of the gates based upon it feeling just to darn familiar to 09.
You actually took the exact words right out of my mouth. It's the exact way I felt after leaving at around 6pm. I dropped by Best Buy yesterday (Saturday), absolutely excited to play MLBtheShow10 seeing as how MLBtheShow09 was my absolute, absolute, absolute favorite game. I played about 10 games with TheShow10. Took a little over 3 hours (time flies). First game 9 innings, subsequent games with a mixture of 5 and 3 innings.
I really wanted to get an up close and personal taste of "real time presentation" vs. "broadcast presentation." I certainly did. I was fully ready to get blown away by the real-time presentation but unfortunately I have to admit that I was let down a little bit. It was not really what I had expected. Even though it's been said that it has no cutscenes or pre-rendered cutscenes (some transitions simply weren't as smooth or as solid as I would have hoped), and what I saw looks like I did encounter some pre-rendered cutscenes, and actually more cutscenes than I expected or would have preferred (yes, I made sure real-time presentation was selected in options.) It's still a very nice feature, but I simply wasn't blown away.
There were two different real-time modes: (1) real-time (2) real-time with replays. I do prefer real-time with replays.
This isn't a knock on you, as I'm sure you're not the only person who feels this way, but I don't see why people need to have something that feels new just for the sake of something that feels new. I'm not going to get into a Show/2K debate here, but I think that anyone that actually has a PS3 and purchases 2K10 is nuts. But again, that's just me, and I do realize that everyone has personal preferences which could make one game more appealing that the other.
But, it does appear that we will have 2 good baseball games to choose from this year, which is always a good thing.
The overall gameplay of TheShow10 felt very much like TheShow09. Since 09 is already a very solid title, I knew 10 would be the same and more. However, from the very first minute of play to the very last minute of play, it simply felt very much like 09.
Pitching in a bases loaded situation with the Oakland Athletics and striking out Alex Rodriguez to retire the side in TheShow10 was still very exciting though. The new pick-off system and seeing players frustrated and forcefully throwing their hardhat to the ground was pretty cool. Also seeing the catcher's mask come off was pretty cool too, however, I did notice that the catcher didn't attempt to retrieve his mask. Hopefully "catcher retrieving their mask" animation is either in or will be implemented for MLBtheShow11.Last edited by strawberryshortcake; 02-28-2010, 06:41 AM.Comment

If they had changed things up too much, I would have been pissed. If the game plays like 09, that's actually cool, because 09 plays like a dream.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

This is exactly what I was thinking. This is the first year we are forced to play it on some TV at a store instead of on our own optimized TV.Comment

Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!
Some of the comments that have been presented here shows me just how spoiled we've become because this game has been so good. I mean expectations seem very high to me. Afterall this is still a video game. All you can ask of a game is to get better year to year. But at some point the steps will be very small because you have reached a very high quality. And to some this may seem like nothing was done to the game, which in my estimation is BS. There was a lot done to this game this year, but the things done were the little things to advance the atsmophere of the game of baseball and to give the player the feel for being in a real game.
In my mind most of the hard work and foundation has been done to this game, so year to year we will see some new tweaking from year to year and it may or may not seem like much to some. But to say this game looks a lot like 09 is not a bad thing. I mean there are other games that seem to have made more whole sale changes to their game, but frankly maybe its because they had to because of what they were working from, from last year, but that game to if it improves from year to year will eventually hit the ceiling and you will see just small changes, all of this of course is IMO.Comment

Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!
Can someone explain how that's a bad thing, given that 09 is typically regarded as one of, if not the best baseball games ever?
If they had changed things up too much, I would have been pissed. If the game plays like 09, that's actually cool, because 09 plays like a dream.
With that said, I am in no way like that with The Show and am very excited for the game on Tuesday. Just thought I would give an idea of at least why some are saying this.#WeAreUKComment
