Re: MLB 10 THE SHOW FRANCHISE PROGRESS THREAD

Playing a Franchise with the Cubs. I play every 6th game, rotating so as to pitch each of the five starters.

Zambrano was injured in his second start, missed most of April and May, returned mid-June only to go down to injury again in his second start coming back from the injury. He's set to return at the end of August.

I picked up one pitcher from FA to replace Z - Noah Lowry - who was injured in late July.

Dereck Lee was injured in early May, out until late June. When he returned I worked a big trade for Pujols, who was injured in his first game as a Cub and was out until the end of July.

Marlon Byrd was hurt in the first week of play, out for the season.

    Nady missed June and July.

Theriot was hurt in May, returned in June, and then hurt again in mid-July, due back at the end of August.

Soriano was injured in June, out until late July.

Fukudome was injured in July, out until early September.

Ramirez has been hurt a few times, but only out a few days each time.

Wells missed 2 weeks, Lilly missed June, Dempster was out for most of July.

Guzman, hurt in real life and out for the season, has been healthy so far but isn't pitching well in simmed games (5.7 ERA).

Some of the guys I brought up or brought in to take the place of injured players were also hurt.

For example when Lee was first hurt I traded for Garko from the Mariners, who was promptly hurt (in his first game as a Cub) for the season.

Even though trades are manual, at some point the CPU traded two minor league pitchers for Scott Posednick, who was hurt (out for the season) in his first game as a Cub.

Signed Pedro Martinez and John Smoltz to try to shore up pitching - Pedro was hurt in his third start, out for the season, Smoltz hurt in his first inning of work, out for season.

Koyie Hill was injured in June, out until August. I brought up a catcher from AAA, who was hurt the first time he appeared, out for the season. When Hill returned in early August, Soto was injured (1-2 months). Signed a FA C who was hurt the third game he played (out for season).

Even I was hurt while riding my bike. A car swerved at me, the driver thought it would be funny, I went flying over the hood and jammed my finger when I hit the ground.

Sean Marshall was hurt picking up a start for Lilly - out for the season.

First week of May...playing ok ball. We are above .500 right now, but damn if Holliday and Ludwick aren't struggling. Bullpen is very shaky as well...losing at least a half dozen games thus far into a young season.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I'm 6-6 in my SF Franchise. My bright spots has been my starting pitching and my 2-5 hitters (Sanchez, Sandoval, Molina and Huff). My low-lights has been my relief pitching and my most of my outfielders bats. Derosa, Rowand and Lewis are all hitting under .225 at this point. Hopefully, they can get it together.

Sitting at 5-2 so far and tied with Colorado at the top of the NL West. Andre Ethier is really struggling and Casey Blake has proven to be terrible defensively at third so if it wasnt for his 3 HR's already then I might consider looking for a better option. In those 7 games Ive only hit 5 HR's and 3 are from Blake and the other 2 are from Kemp, Manny and Etheir have yet to hit a single one. On the pitching side of things Hiroki Kuroda has been an absolute stud having pitched 14 innings, struck out 18 and only given up 1 ER.

Re: MLB 10 THE SHOW FRANCHISE PROGRESS THREAD

I am starting mine tonight. I did a test one last week where I pretty much simmed the entire season, I played maybe 12 games. I was the White Sox and made it to the ALDS. It actually came down to a one game playoff between me and the Twins, which I won. I then lost 3-1 in the ALDS to the Rays.

I am going to do one now with the Red Sox. I am a big fan of Fenway and they are a really solid team. I am hoping to get the trophies for playoffs, CS, and WS where you play at least 82 of the regular season games. I will post updates once I get started.

I just got destroyed by the Tigers. It was my first universal all star game and let's just say Zito started. His stuff is so bad you can't be around the plate too much. I lost 12-2 I believe. I am now 5-3, and I believe 2 gb in the west.

The absolute most irritating thing about this game is it's inability to easily save settings. I thought I played my two prior games on All-Star. Nope, they were on veteran.

Anyways, I think the draft is coming up. I'll prob look elsewhere than SP since Cain, Lincecum and Baumgarner are all A potentials. My team has nothing as far as power goes. Molina and DeRosa have spent time batting clean-up.

Good god I cannot hit on All-Star. I need to add some pop to this lineup quickly.

Well still in my tester chise and i traded for Mauer and Liriano for Buchholz, JD Drew and Mike Lowell. i know unrealistic but im not keeping this chise... dont judge me
I signed Jermaine Dye to replace Drew. I moved Victor to 1B and Youk to 3B and Beltre to the bench and trading block for a SP. Lester is out for 2-3 months with a broken pitching hand so i am needing pitching. He was tearing it up. 5-1 1.89 era and a 10 k/9 rating. and i only pitched 2 games with him and had 15 total K's in 14 IP. Its been really fun though, I miss lester. (he's my favorite P)

I am going to sign Dye, and option Ishakawa to AAA and release some Tony Pena RP, as well as add Zito to the trade block.

the only thing i worry about with Dye is his speed for defense.

Dye went yard in his first game to straight away center. He's legit protection for Sandoval and vice versa. I won a nail biter against the Twins 5-4 to post my first win on all-around all-star sliders.

I believe after my next game in Anaheim I have my draft. I don't think the Giants pick too high, so don't expect much.

I am doing a 29 game season with the Sox until the Rosters are set by mr. knight. I am 1-1 and happy despite having to be on Rookie for hitting and Veteran for pitching. Batting on Veteran was killing me (I am horrible).

Beckett got shelled v. the Padres at Fenway to open the season by giving up 6 runs in 2 innings. I was able to make it a game and ended up losing 9-6.

Game 2 has Lackey v. the Giants at AT&T park and I proceded to give up 3 runs in the first inning after getting 2 quick outs. I started to think I stink and need to lower pitching and realized my Dog could probably play better. I kept chipping away and ended up tying the game at 3 in the 7th when I had put in Ramirez to pitch. The 8th inning I was able to score 2 more and Oki and Pap closed it out for me. Satisfying win to say the least.

Still a tad concerned with so many singles 13 and 3 extra base hits. I know its Rookie level so I can expect lots of hits but maybe I will tinker with the sliders to reduce the contact, etc.

Re: MLB 10 THE SHOW FRANCHISE PROGRESS THREAD

The draft came sooner than I thought. I'm sitting 6-5. The funny thing is after I gave Dye $20M for 3 years to play RF, I ended up taking a RF in the first round. His name is Alphonso Collazo. He's 21, a b potential, but oozes power, something I want. I wanted an oafish bafoon who's goal is life is to sock dingers. He had by miles the biggest power bar in the draft it seems, and he hits to RF 42% of the time. Everything else besides his power seemed inadequate, but whatever. He doesn't offer any speed or defense Dye doesn't have, so his arrival will be based strictly on Dye's decline. I give him an ETA of opening day 2012. In the later rounds I added what seemed like little or no talent. In the second round I got a decent pitcher.

The top 5 went: SP, LF, SP, LF, RP. The first three didn't impress me at all, but picks 4 and 5 look like superstars. Both were A-potentials, with MLB ready ratings.

Zito is useless. I think opponents are honestly hitting over .500 against him.

I haven't looked much around the league, but at 6-5 I am 3 games behind Arizona who is 9-1, and I believe I am 1.5 games back in the wild card race.

Putzing around when I make Sandoval a 1B his OVR shoots right up. I think I am going to wait until I extend him to make that edit.

I am really getting a pretty good feel for this team, and my season. I really hope I can make a good run at the playoffs. The 29-game season mode is pretty intense though. Games are events, almost NFL-like.

Uber-ace Matt Cain takes the bump for me next at home against Oakland I believe.

                                Wish me luck.
