So i had been thinking about the problem with the draft creating too many quality pitchers and how it should be fixed. Honestly I'd like to see the number of A potential pitchers stay the same, but too many become good pitchers. It seems like all prospects turn out good in the game. So basically I'd like to see two things. 1) injuries should matter! I want to see pitchers have Tommy John surgery and never make it back to form. There should be more examples of flash in the pan guys. (Willis, Wood, Prior) 2) The scouting department should be wrong a certain percentage of time so we get busts.
Someone had asked what this is doing to budgets. I'll post my excel sheet that shows what is happening because of all the quality pitchers. There are two tabs, one shows the budgets the other shows # of B quality and above players comparison from 2010 and 2016. The budgets are way way too high and you'll notice the average payroll goes from 88 mil in 2010 (almost dead on 2009's average was 89 mil) to 159 mil in 2016.
