Re: MLB 11 The Show Community Day Discussion Thread - Questions, Answers etc.
I was wondering if you could go into anymore detail in regards to the conversations about lag and smoothness of online play? Imo, this has been a pretty serious issue over the lifespan of this series on the PS3. They made decent strides last year, but I think most would agree that they experience much more lag with The Show than any of the other big sports titles.
The new additions to the online portion of the game sound great. Though they are somewhat diminished if the actual online gameplay is as hit and miss as it has been in the past.
Thanks.Now, more than everComment

Knight,
This sounds like a great tool and can make roster editing go alot quicker. My only concern is if there are too many "A" rated prospects what will happen to the franchise, especially if the 2013 glitch isn't hammered out.
Do you have any plans to limit the number of A and B prospects this year, similar to what was given in the past, for your OS roster?
We all know how everyone thinks "their team's" prospects should be an A.
I think there won't be a limit to the number of high potential players, since putting a cap may limit the number of "at-least solid" prospects. But then again, I could be wrong. Just be assured that whoever helps out, the rosters will inevitably be finished with realism in mind. I hope that helps.
Edit: This brings up an interesting question now for the potential rating for the created players. How will it be determined? Is it pre-assigned or can we rate it to a certain degree? Each potential grade has a range for ratings, such as A where it can range from a very solid player to one the best players in the league, and a B where it can range from a solid bench player or a solid starter who may occasionally make an All-Star team or 2, and so on. If we can assign it, people may be tempted as you have said to give everyone all A-potential ratings (as Knight has said before is possible), but it'd be a boon as you'd no longer have to shift players between teams.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 01-16-2011, 07:00 PM.Comment

BUT...keep in mind...with the ability to swap anyone out...with a player with a different potential.....there is the ability to "fix"anything that isn't as intended. Of course that will be a little extra work..but I think everyone will get on the same page and be good about it.
Some people are going to need to be objective when it comes to there contributions. I'm am willing to do the Padres set for the OS Rosters if I am needed, but in general the OS rosters have always been "fair" in terms of prospect potential distribution and consistent with all the minor league report publication entities. I'm not sure if the F/A issue in 2013 from last year's game still affected game modes after the rosters were corrected, but I have a feeling that because the original rosters came loaded with a bunch of A potential prospects, that it threw off not only the amount of trades that would occur during a season, but also affected free agency, as teams tend to pursue players with low ratings and high potentials.

...and yes....I will be opening a thread soon to get guys together to work on this. I see no reason we couldn't have this done in a week or two at the most if we get enough guys.

On that note...I will need about a day to set some ratings...on different potential players....at different rating levels, just to see how they play out with the new fielder ratings and even just to see if anything was tweaked that will change the way they play out seasons into a franchise....
I'll then relay the general ratings to guys to work off of....and we'll discuss tweaking if necessary.
The main thing is to get a few general info guys...a few team detailed/ratings guys and a few face guys.

This...without a doubt will have to be determined BEFORE anyone would work on a team.

You'll know the potential of the guy ahead of time....when you export him.

Is this for current rosters or is this including classic one's as well....I was going to start a thread in a little while for the classic rosters to try to drum all who are interested, but if you are going to do it then that good and fun too!Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Community Day Discussion Thread - Questions, Answers etc.
Knight - You mentioned in one of your write-ups in the Community Day Impressions thread that the menus have been revamped. Do they simply have new styles but essentially the same layout? Kind of like applying a new style sheet to a web site without actually moving anything around?
Or are the menus laid out differently at all now? If so, could you provide some examples from franchise mode (standings screen, stats screens, etc)?Comment

How do you know when you've created an amazing game? When people are asking about improvements to the mascots."Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes."Comment

- CD guys, Do you have wait for SCEA to give you the go ahead to post some more of the pics you had? While I really enjoyed the scoreboards, I would love to see some on the field shots and gameplay screens. Thanks as always...Comment
