I wonder though.....if you can just EXPORT an MLB player to your HDD..and NOT upload him the the Vault?.....and then import him back into your own roster if you like?
Guess that's something for release day.

      Knight,

Wow..that is awesome news on the custom league stuff. I'd love to redo some of the 1960's seasons when just 2 leagues pre-expansion!!

However, you said only online...so I can sign into sportsconnect and just start a game controlling 1 team and have the cpu control the other? I don't need to find an online player to connect with, correct?

That's something I was curious about too. It seems like a logical workaround.

        Thanks for the responses fellas.

...And a base roster is all I was concerned about. I won't have time for a franchise unless we get deployed again.

Correct...You can just have your own PRIVATE league...with just one HUMAN controlled team(YOU) and the rest CPU....and the nice thing is...you can toggle yourself to one of the CPU teams and put yours to CPU(thereby playing as different teams through the season if you like)....
One small caveat is...I don't think you can just choose any game on the schedule "at will" to play...you'll have to switch the user to do that I believe.
But...you do NOT need another player to play with the online league. For whatever(AWESOME) reason ....they decided to let you have a single player online league(probably to get a season started...then allow others to join if they like.
Another thing is...you can't let it sit idle for more than two weeks or it will be taken down.
You can see stats...standings and the front end looks a lot like a regular offline season.
It's going to be nice...that's for sure.
AND...you'll be able to post up your standings/stats and league info to the SCEA website for others to view. Kind of like a built in Dynasty Manager!

Just the fact that we can use custom rosters online is the big thing...so thanks for that SCEA!!!

Did any of the developers talk about the ability to view an online franchise via a web interface? Something like what NBA 2K11 offers on the 2K website? Is something like this even on their radar? I'd love to be able to check in on my franchise while I'm at work.

This is a quote from Knight in the Community members only thread:

"Also...the team has been reworking the pitch release points and the new models in conjunction with this have given the pitching animations a really nice feel. You can see the ball coming in more over the top now and it looks very good. This is an improvement for sure."

Does this mean pitch releases were still being worked on when you guys were there? I noticed in a CES vid with Beckett pitching to Rollins, that the release point didn't look quite right, like it wasn't the correct release point in relation to his arm angle. Is this what you were referring to in this quote? And is this still being worked on?

Yes I talked to Kolbe about it. The old site was just a place holder to work the kinks out so to speak.

The new one will include an expanded interface where you can view your leagues and stat tracking.

The new options will launch this March when the game ships. Nem may have more information if he talked to Kolbe more about it.

were there any changes to guess pitch? Any chance that the "hitter's eye" from the MVP series is represented in the game?

                  Thanks
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Yes, on the last day Ramone asked us to help him go through each teams starters and write down those that need to be corrected, and how they need to correct it (releasing too early, etc). It helped speed up the process a bit.

Then they were manually fixing each pitchers one at a time. The changes were quite remarkable and a definite upgrade for this series in a spot some felt they lacked in.

I do not believe so, it appeared to be the same. But none of us were really using it. Maybe someone else tried it in single player. Lots of coop was played. I am telling you, 4 friends in coop is so rewarding.

I figured this was where this was going and that is AWESOME!!!.....My next question, and I am sure you checked this out, is can you set the league how you want it if others are playing, like a MOM only league? If not that is cool too, but that is great you can play seasons how they used to and truly recreate past seasons how they were really set up. I see a lot people doing this, this year....but this just shows why the show is awesome.

                          Unfortunately...no manage only for online.
I didn't think there were too many like us....and I'll be happy just to "GM" most and "play" a few games for now.
I'll definitely get in Kolbe's head on expanding it to offline and include all modes of play...now that I see how it is set up.

Are there different glove styles for the various positions this year?

For example, some shortstops use something like this:
                            Others use something like this:

Is there trades within the leagues?...This sounds like a little bit of OOTP 11 a little bit.

If one guy is doing it....it's basically the same....but if you can assemble a good team....even if it is one guy doing the basic info...passing them to a guy who is doing ratings....then on to a guy doing faces on them....then one guy who will put it all together and do the levels/lineups and such...it should be much quicker.
Also....if it is just one guy doing them...I can now do the top 100 players...uploaded them and for those that don't want to wait for the entire set can now start when they want....or at any amount of players they want to wait for(as long as guys are uploading their players to the vault)
It will be a very nice addition.

Now...onto the addition this year that will allow us to have a "workaround" to create historical seasons.
I don't know if you've read Nem's write up on Online Leagues......but if you look at the set up for the league, it will translate into being able to create a custom league with just about any set up that the MLB has been in the past.
You start with 2 leagues(AL and NL)...you can edit the name
You are then given the ability to have 2/4/6 divisions(so if you choose 2...you will just have 1 division in each league...for say the 1927 season)..You can edit the names of these as well.
You can then choose the amount of teams(from 2-30)....so you choose 16 and there will be 8 in each division.
You can then choose the teams that will populate your leagues...and you can place them in any league or division you like(so let's say you are recreating 1975 when the Brewers were in the A.L......you can put them in the proper league division. No limitations....want to put the Yankees in the NL?....go ahead.)
You then choose the series length....1 or 3(obviously 3 for us)
You then choose how many series for the season(you can't get 154 games...but you get 156...or 162 for the top end)
You then choose how many days your season is(total...this is really for online leagues that want to play say 3 games a week...but stretched out over the entire real MLB season....so they would choose 162 days)....they may increase it past 162 days...and put days off in the schedule....but right now it's a block...more on that...
You can also set the schedule for the amount of series played within your division....and interleague.(you can choose 0 for when there was no interleague play)....the rest of the series not chosen will be distributed INTRA league. This is where the slight limitations come in....no custom schedule(maybe one day...but the devs say this is a HUGE undertaking)...and as of right now...it is a complete block of games...no days off.....so you see a complete block of 162 games broken up into 3 game series. They are either going to put in the ability to add in more days on the length of season(not games played...just days the calendar is) thus giving you days off...or build in rest after a certain amount of games(I guess right after that game is played)
You can choose to load custom sliders at one point in the league creation.
You can choose to load custom ROSTERS at one point in the league creation.
I didn't see the ability to choose DH/NO DH(like you can do now in franchise offline)...
You can just have one player in the league you created and make it private.
You must however play this game "online"....(with yourself)....even though all the other teams are CPU controlled teams.
One thing I forgot to check was setting the lineups/rotations for the CPU teams and if you can go in and change them as the commissioner. We may have to use what they see fit.
So as you can see...while not "perfect"...we are a HUGE step closer to having a true custom season creator...I think I can convince Kolbe to give us this same setup for offline mode for next year if I beg enough.
Just the fact that we can use custom rosters online is the big thing...so thanks for that SCEA!!!

                                Knight,
This sounds like a great tool and can make roster editing go alot quicker. My only concern is if there are too many "A" rated prospects what will happen to the franchise, especially if the 2013 glitch isn't hammered out.

Do you have any plans to limit the number of A and B prospects this year, similar to what was given in the past, for your OS roster?

We all know how everyone thinks "their team's" prospects should be an A.
